I have lived in Kent for 9 years and have always had positive interactions with the Kent police department. They are way more responsive than I would expect, are friendly, and professional. Every time I have needed to call for emergency or non emergency issues, they respond quickly and resolve the issue if they can. I feel a lot safer knowing these guys and gals are out there! Thanks for all you are doing and I hope you know how much your hard work is appreciated!!!

I had car problems in Kent and a very kind & helpful Kent Police Officer stopped by to see if I needed any help. He played around with my car and found out the battery was dead, so he jumped my car. Thank you Kent Police Department for your excellent customer service and help!

KPD doesn't alway get the support and respect it deserves. These officers put their lives on the line to protect our rights. I just had a lost item returned to me by an officer and deep down, I felt really bad that he had to drive here but at the same time, couldn't have been prouder of him for going above and beyond. I will always have the utmost respect for all law enforcement officers, and never let the actions of one individual alter my perspective.

The Kent Police have somewhat improved on their policing I give you that. The be aggressive tactic that is implemented in the area of Kent though... um uh... this isn t Compton, it s Kent! (Protect & Serve). Other than the overzealous policing strategy, they do a good enough job. Give credit when credit is due. 3 stars!

P.S - You don t have to treat every potential person as a criminal... your be aggressive tactics are silly.

Nice enough people. But when my car was stolen they had already caught it in a traffic stop because the driver had warrants and she just sped off. They didn t bother pursuing it despite the fact I had reported it stolen and it wasn t found until two days later in ellensburg by the Washington state patrol who actually did their jobs and brought me back my car. Police gotta step it up with bringing people to justice. And our mayors and city council members need to give them more freedom to do just that.

Harrassed and intimidated by a KPD officer at the ShoWare center last night to the point I did not feel comfortable staying for the show I waiting so long to see. When asked what the problem was he stated he was just nearby and heard the situation even after the manager stated there was no problem and I wa shops to be there he did not move from my view of the show and stared me down as if he wanted to engage in a staring contest. Totally unprofessional and trying to instigate a problem or get a rise out of me. Sorry sir there would be no Sandra Bland ing me! His partner tapped his shoulder as my partner approached (a large black man) so I already know how it was about to go. We simply left the show we were registered and ticketed for to avoid the confrontation they were looking for.

Pretty serious issue dealing with my wife. Diagnosed PTSD I called because she demonstrated signs of suicidal behavior. The officers who showed up were Kilner, Yagi, Stansfied. They weren't providing me with enough information. They did do their job and she is safe going to a hospital. I wasn't informed about anything other than. "she said she thought about suicide and the ambulance would be arriving shortly. They put her in the ambulance. I sat outside my lake merdian apartment complex watching not getting emotional and once she was in the ambulance. The officers just got in their vehicles and drove off. I was right in front of them and they didn't tell me or inform me on anything about the situation. Once she was in the ambulance. Stunned as i have been through this with my mom 1 year ago and I feel very disrespected and morally and ethically wronged by the way they did not involve me. Lake Merdian apartment complex in the past has not even gotten a response unit out when dealing with domestic abuse issues concerning neighbors. I feel like living in an apartment complex from my experiences now, twice, and from workers in this complex a woman being abused by her boyfriend which statistically speaking has a high rate of injury, pyschological issues, death, and overall traumatic effects on countless parties involved. For some reason are not being treated equally by officers, in my opinion based on location and the fact its apartments. I just don't feel like its professional and its really unfair. I got a fist bump after i went to shake his hand and then they took off.

Last night was a physically and emotionally draining night. After months of struggling to find help for my mother in law who has been suffering from dementia, it ultimately came down to needing to get the police involved just to get her medical care. The officer that arrived to assist us, A. Stafford, was amazing. We truly believe that this officer's forthrightness and determination to do what was in the best interest of our mother ultimately saved her life and we are truly grateful to her.

I lived in and out of Kent for the last 30 years. I don't care much for the changes in the people that have moved here. Lots more crime due to all the section 8 housing all over. But the Kent Police handle business. They hire the best officers from anywhere. I have lived in many other cities and never cared too much for many other departments. The most respectable officers i've ever seen. This department does an excellent job at protecting the citizens when called upon. Pierce County PD is the second best department in Washington. Whoever trains the officers at the Kent Police department, you're doing a great job. Just had to give a quick shout out to this department for their outstanding work.

Officers I've encountered for this specific department were nothing but rude and unethical. These officers need a serious attitude adjustment or get a new job doing something else bc you don't help anyone you just bully people. I had gotten into a car accident and almost died , luckily I was saved by a stop light pole from tumbling down a hill with a car with broken airbags . Officers arrived and treated me SO horribly and to top it off I was in a state of shock from near death experience and they made my experience so much worse. You call yourself officers ? You're a disgrace to your country

Today I was caught in Kent traffic. I was making a left turn when the two cars in front of me stopped and we're caught in the intersection. I got caught sitting on the crosswalk hanging less than a foot over, I was not blocking traffic in any way and there were no pedestrians to be seen. While I understand stopping on a crosswalk is illegal I was pinned.

A Kent police officer was taking a left in front of me and his answer to the problem was to stop in front of me, hit his lights and bleep his siren. He gave me a horrible look and screamed "No". As he completed his turn he continued to give me a crappy look and when he was at my window I said I'm sorry pointing at the two cars actually in the intersection i"I got stuck" no exaggeration he screamed "I don't care" and drove off.

First off I'm 53 years old and shouldn't be talked to like a 5 year old.
Secondly if it was that important he should have stopped and ticketed me.

We have all been trapped like this at one time or another. Most likely he has at some time as well.

All that said I was raised to respect the police and the job they do. I have had little to no interaction with the police iny life and have been concerned about all the bad press the police get. If this is an indicator of what we pay these people for I'm afraid I'm going to have to switch sides on this issue.

My only advice to the Kent police department is this.
If you don't want to be treated like jerks maybe you shouldn't act like jerks.

They refuse to take and of my calls seriously. It's like they forget that are public servants and we don't know our rights. Maybe they only help certain people. Because I know I've never been given adequate help or response. Even the Sargent refused.

Unfortunately you have no choice in who your police department is so it does not matter how few stars they receive. Your only option is to leave town. I'm Black and called the police on my Caucasian neighbor and told them he stalked me, threatened me, assaulted me and broke out one of my apartment windows. You know what the police did? NOTHING!! If you checked there would be no record that he did anything even though he confessed?!? When I asked 'Why there was no report?' I heard nothing but crickets. I guess now we know why White-on-Black crime in Kent is likely non-existent.

I called 911 after a close encounter with a an individual who threatened to harm me, gave a description to the dispatcher and was immediately contacted by an Officer via phone. He was kind, understanding and reassuring. Having been a part of the profession almost 15 years ago in a different state, I have in-depth knowledge of the types of Officers who represent the vast majority of those in the field, and this Officer was one of them. I firmly believe all but a select few are just like him, and that statement comes from six years of experience. The overwhelming majority of negative reviews and complaints come from those who have bad interactions that are the direct result of their own unprofessional or illegal conduct. I wish to commend the Kent Police Department for employing professionals eager to assist the law abiding public as this was not my first positive interaction with a representative of the agency.

I came in to get my CPL renewed and the staff was super nice. Before leaving I had asked for a badge Sticker for my daughter and was provided one then was told under the Christmas tree was some gifts that she can choose from. My daughter left happily that she got a gift. Thank you to the Kent Police Department for all that you do.

I have had so many interactions with multiple police departments in the PNW area, due to my job. I certainly can say Kent PD officers are one of the bests in the region. The majority of the officers are professional, competent, polite, and respectful (Especially younger and newer officers.) Within the last 6 years that I've been living in Kent, I have never had (or seen) an issue with Kent PD employees.
