Kemper House took such wonderful care of my mother. Their dedicated staff were compassionate and very well trained. this is a terrible disease and I am so thankful I found Kemper House!
This is a place where you place trust in others to care for a loved one. Since Covid limited visitation, it was difficult to evaluate how well Kemper was caring for my mother. This necessitated one extra star over what our experiences would have given Kemper. What we did see during visitation was an elderly lady who was not well kept, but she was escorted and in a wheelchair. Mom is a huge fall risk. On a subsequent visit, there was no wheelchair or constant escort. She had multiple bruises on her head, one of which looked very bad. When asked if mom should have been in a wheelchair, I was told, "I don't know. I would have to ask the nurse.". So, mom may have needed a wheelchair but was walked down the hall. Not a critical situation in this case, but one example of the lack of communication and professionalism that we witnessed at Kemper Strongsville. How can aides not know the requirements for each patient's care? What if it was mandated by a doctor that my mom was to be transported in a wheelchair.. or any other doctor recommendation for that matter? "I don't know" is inexcusable, especially for a resident who cannot communicate well. It's these individual resident details where Kemper fails.
I'm glad the decision was made to leave Kemper. They also apparently have no ability to differentiate between resident's property and Kemper's. Again, the details are too much for them to keep track of. I only hope that they handled the details of moms medications without issue. Disorganized, uninformed. No longer trusted.
My mom was in the care of Kemper House for nearly 2 years as she ended her battle with dementia/alzheimers. Our family was very pleased with the care she received. They train their staff very well and they are always striving to improve the care they provide. If you're looking for a home for our aging loved one who suffers from memory loss, please do yourself a favor and visit this one first. My mom was at 2 other long-term care facilities before we were able to get her in Kemper and the experience at those were horrible. We can't say enough good things about the staff at Kemper. They are the best.
Applied there for nursing job. Rude. Couldn't wait for me to leave. They missed out on a wonderful nurse with 45 yrs experience. So sorry I can't love and care for your family member
I have a friend that works here and SHE LOVES IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a wonderful place highly recommended for your loved ones!!!
