On our visit there were some activities laid on for kids, the best part of which was an actor playing the role of Keats, wandering round the house talking to visitors. I think this really helped to bring the place alive. My daughter and her friend loved asking him questions, which I did my best to steer toward the intelligent, although inevitably it occasionally veered off into the charmingly inane world of 6 year old children. I couldn't help but be amused by listening to the girls discussing with the great poet who they were going to be inviting to their birthday parties and so on.

The garden is a haven of peace and tranquility. It was quiet when I visited, just the sound of birdsong. Sit in this garden and imagine Keats writing his "Ode to a Nightingale" for this is where it happened, as he listen to this bird calling forth.
The house is full of interest and charts his brief but inspired life. There is a good looped film giving an overview of his life in the basement floor and in one of the upstairs rooms you can listen to some of his poetry. His life and death masks are on display as well as various memorabilia and his original handwritten manuscript of his last work "Ode to Autumn", perhaps there's some personal significance in this title as he was already quite ill.

The beautiful house where Keats resided for a brief time period was turned into a superb museum. It felt like stepping back in time as you went through the different rooms exploring Keats life through the manuscripts and artefacts laid out. To make it more interactive each room had prompts to do some sort of activity in the room to immerse yourself in the world that Keats lived in, which was great for all ages to learn and have a laugh.

The home of English poet, John Keats. A beautiful house with garden with a nearby library. A very beautiful big garden with lots of flowers and I'm sure Keats must have enjoyed the birds singing in spring.

Beautiful and fascinating time capsule in Hampstead. Much of the house's features has been preserved dating back to the early 19th century making it feel surreal to be walking around the very rooms where the esteemed young poet once lived and worked. There are three floors to explore, the volunteers are tremendously knowledgeable, and Keats House is only moments away from the Hampstead Heath. If you're in the area, this is a recommended visit.
