Kayak Shack Review

My experience was amazing id was 4 of us using 2 kayaks. They were so friendly and very instructional, I don t understand why people are giving this place 1 star just because you have to go up the river like stop being so lazy the experience is worth the workout and once you get up you can always float back. Anyway this kayak shack was awesome and the kayaks are in good condition. good job kayak shack

Great rental place, friendly, if you have reservation you will be in and out very quick.

Had the greatest time with my family today! The staffs were super friendly and communicative. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend everyone coming here! The price were cheaper than other shops and we got to see a manatee on top of that!

These local business owners are nothing but good people. They are very friendly & completely honest. My sister & I were planning on going to Rodgers park to lay out on the beach, but we ended up choosing something a little more fun instead. I had heard great things about this shop, but i was even more impressed when we called out of the blue and they said head on over. I really loved the whole experience. We are planning on making it a monthly thing over the summer.

My family and I had a blast out on the river! Thank you so much Amber and John!!! They we're the sweetest people and very informative about the river and how to have a great time! The shack is so cute! The bug spray you sell there has been a life saver as well this week. If you want a great, fun, relaxing activity to do, look no further we'll be back again for sure. This place is wonderful. My husband and I rented one of their properties to celebrate our 30 year wedding anniversary. The property is adorable. It came with kayaks, perfect for our adventures to weeki wachee springs and just chillin in the water. The river is the prettiest water I have ever been on. Amber, the owner is awesome! She is extremely friendly and helpful. This was a wonderful experience for our important celebration (and in compliance with social distancing ) I hope to be back soon with our son and his family. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

Excellent river to kayak. We went kayaking later in the day and it began to rain while we were on the river, which was fun until we returned to the kayak shack. The shack was locked and shut down for the day with our car keys locked inside! And there was no answer on the phone for the owner. It took us about 30 minutes to find someone to open the shack so we could get our keys. We had to threaten to break a window to get our keys out to get help. Moral of the story: don't leave your car keys inside the shack (which they recommend) and hope it doesn't rain while you are kayaking because the staff will close up shop and leave you stranded.

Best place to go for kayaking. Water is so clear. You can see fishes through transparent water. Whole kayak trial is 5 miles and it takes about 2-3 hrs.

From the weeki wachii kayak, you generally need to make a reservation. I have a friend who just wanted to pay to launch and they told her she needed a reservation.
From what I was told by the kayak rental across from Rogers Park( bottom of spring)Very nice ppl and operation), the official operation at the top, will be changing their route to just paddle 1/2 way and then paddle back, eliminating the need for shuttles. They currently employ a police officer to manage the waters. Seriously, too many tourists at one time on the water. Often loud and ruining the nature experience.
The current is often very strong there and not so easy to paddle the whole way upstream during the tidal ( changing tides) waves.
There's a guy with a houseboat that sells soda, snacks, hotdogs, etc nearer to bottom, so bring a little $ if you didn't bring enough water or snacks. Nice option :)

Everything was extremely smooth and the staff was friendly!
We arrived 15 minutes early and our tandem kayak was already ready to go! Once we signed a waiver we were off exploring the Weeki Wachee river! There is a part of the river (if you go far enough) that is pristine-- wilderness on both sides. This was my favorite part, other than seeing the manatees of course!

Kayaking the river was fantastic. Renting the kayak was a whole different story. We dealt with one of the owners. She was disrespectful and lacked common curiosity. Yelling constantly at patons about where to go and what to do. She never smiled once. Many of the patrons there were visibly disturbed by her last of customer service. I overheard someone describe their experience as very red neck. I felt she was just plain rude.
