Nurses have been getting attacked in the Kaweah Delta parking lot. Just recently, a student nurse was held at gunpoint as the robbers took her car. Keep in mind, there were NO security guards present. So Kaweah Delta, DO BETTER and hire more security guards to patrol the area because the safety of your workers should be your top priority.

This review is about the emergency department specifically. Their ER has been deplorable for many years. They misdiagnosed my appendicitis as gas and wanted to send me home (this was a couple of years before COVID). If I hadn t insisted on imaging they would have discharged me and my appendix would have ruptured inside me. This was after 10 hours in the waiting room doubled over and groaning with pain. Gas. There are so many stories out there about the emergency department just like mine. Horrendous wait times, incorrectly diagnosed medical conditions. We had a good experience delivering one of our children here.

I m honestly puzzled as to how this hospital is able to operate, beginning with really rude nurses in the ER and when it comes to dealing with medical procedures it almost feels like you have to wait an eternity for them just to figure out what it is. I went in for a strep throat infection I had difficulty talking and swallowing, I was expecting to be given an antibiotic shot and maybe some steroid to reduce the swelling and pain in my throat, I went in at 8am and got out at 6pm and not only that I was pumped with stuff that honestly didn t make a difference at all and I was kept there waiting for a long time for practically Tylenol I m still experiencing pain and the swelling is still there so def going elsewhere I advise to not attend this hospital.

my husband was at the ER on Tuesday, Kaweah talks about how important patients are to them, well maybe your RN Jessica needs further education on patient care. After spending 5 hrs in the ER waiting for further testing, I approached nurse Jessica about my husband not feeling well and him being diabetic, she came over checked his sugar level, which by then he was at 269, she said he is fine and can continue to wait. And then continue to tell me that he can wait for his turn or leave with no prescription, which the triage Dr had said she was sending with him. This is not the kind of person you want help from at an Er. very disappointing at the quality of care that we received.

I went into the ER on Tuesday. The nurse who was in charge of giving me medication made me feel very uncomfortable. She was complaining about sending out two positive COVID-19 tests to the county. She stated that she was not going to send them out and that the county could help itself. She was also talking about how she would love to be married to one of the physicians who, was talking to a patient. She asked me what my allergies to medications were. She then told me that breaking out into a burning and itching rash all over my body wasn't an allergic reaction but a normal one. I'm not sure what kind of training your nurses go through but it needs more work.

Just left the Labor and Delivery unit. Horrible nursing staff. As I was leaving one of the nurses came up to me and my mother to yell at us and tell us she was frustrated with us. Not only am I in active labor, we did nothing wrong. She told me I wasn t progressing so I asked for a second opinion. The second nurse corrected the first nurses mistake and gave me the right information that I needed. So my first nurse got super mad and went off on me and my mother. Even going to the lengths of saying my doctor makes mistakes and other nurses in the hospital make mistakes but she doesn t. Terrible service. I m upset that I have to return there to have my baby. Don t recommend.

I have never had the displeasure of being a patient at this hospital, so I have not had an opinion to the staff or procedures until now. My daughter went into preterm labor at nearly 5 months pregnant this past week and went into the ER with her husband. She was also most likely dehydrated from not being able to keep anything at all down for two days. Her husband informed them of her condition, and that she had been there 2 days prior after water breaking, and that she was most likely in active preterm labor. They did not allow her husband inside, but did not tell him why. More than an hour and a half later, they were told when they got her a bed, they would let him in. They neglected to tell them that if he took a COVID test and it was negative--he could be with her. She was left in a wheelchair in labor and in pain, without being checked on for the next 3 and a half hours ( total of about 5). She began bleeding heavily, and finally her husband and her contacted her provider and she also tried to fight to get her a bed before she had the heartache of losing her first baby in a wheelchair alone. They finally got her to a bed in time for her to deliver within minutes.
The saddest part is that they actually had beds available. I do not know if they had to close beds to make space for "social distancing" or what the problem was. If this was the case, this is very sad that patient care would come to this point of risking a patient's life to conform to state orders. Regardless of that point, they should have taken her up to labor and delivery . She had just been at the hospital with her water broken days prior. She was scared, alone, and neglected for way too long, and almost had to lose her baby in a wheelchair.
I have heard a lot of negative things about Kaweah Delta Hospital and the staff, and while I am sure that there are some very good doctors and nurses employed here, Whomever was working that day and assessing my daughter--is not one of them. The ER definitely needs more training on critical care and proper patient care.
