Love this winery, the view, the wine and the price! Can t complain about it!
I visited Joseph Phelps Vineyards with some girlfriends for a weekend girls trip and this was by far our favorite stop of the weekend. The backdrop during the tasting were the vines on their rolling hills. It was stunning and complimented well by the friendly and welcoming staff. Meredith was our host and my favorite thing she did was to tell us what foods she would pair each wine with. I've had a craving for mushroom risotto since! It was truly delightful and stunningly beautiful. A MUST when visiting NV!
Enjoyed the experience very much. There s no such a rush sense from our host. Actually, Nicholas was fantastic! If you get a chance to go there, highly recommend Nicholas.
First class winery visit experience all the way with fantastic view of the vineyard and excellent service by the staff. Sitting outside on the patio on a nice and quiet on a weekday afternoon. Life can't get better than this.
Beautiful property and great wine. Property boasts amazing views around the main tasting area. Outdoor patio is open during COVID. Appointment is required for a tasting. Highly recommend.
Had a wine dinner back home at our club and the regional manager facilitated a visit for me. I could only do the standard canned tasting of selected wines but it did include quarter Moon PN which turned out to be my fave, despite a heavy stewed fruit note it was very enjoyable. Backus was really tannic , undrinkable young(5-7+) compared with the too smooth and truly unremarkable Insignia - made in huge lots for $300, not my style, but I admit very consistent style, just not mine, much prefer highs and lows more daring wines. I arrived early, but the tasting was extremely orchestrated. Facilities and site are just lovely.
So all my years living in NorCal and 150+ Napa visits, just this year I first had Joe Phelps wines. They ve always been a bit too much of a restaurant-client sort of wine and very expensive especially considering 16,000 cases a year.
The standard tasting is a bit canned and probably fine for someone already a fan, I was disappointed that I didn t get access to the other choices, there s a lot of very good wines in Napa, I didn t as a wine geek get much out of this visit, nothing to make me single out much past the beautiful architecture and a previously unknown to me RRV PN that was lovely, but iconic Insignia just isn t my palate.
A spectacular property. Nancy was personable and knowledgeable. Insignia on the veranda, what more can I say. Thank you one and all.
Beautiful winery inside and out. The wines are excellent and the food is wonderful. Worth every effort to visit.
