Lithia Honda of Ames did not refill the oil in my car! My girlfriend took our car in for routine service as part of the oil changes for life we purchased when we first bought our car. She ran the car 1200 miles after the oil change before we checked the oil level and found that the car had no oil in it!! The service manager at lithia told me it is not uncommon for cars with 140k on them to burn that much oil in that short amount of time. The car didn't burn oil ever in it's life prior to this and sell doesn't seem to burn why now. The lack of oil did however cause an engine tick. He is giving me the run around and does not care that his mechanics caused irreparable damage to my engine!! Lithia has offered nothing for compensation except to insinuate that this is my fault. I would warn anyone against doing any kind of business with this company. How would anyone trust them? It's a good thing they didn't rotate my tires or the wheels would likely have fallen off. Buyer beware!!

We were searching for a car for our daughter who couldn't afford much, Percy was the salesman who "helped" us. He honestly acted like we were wasting his time. He couldn't have cared less. We went to Toyota instead and were treated like we were buying a high end car.

Had a great purchasing experience! We were looking for a specific model, color, and trim level and were able to find it on Honda of Ames's website. We called one minute prior to closing on a Friday night and Dan Lowe answered the phone and helped us out late into the evening. Dan offered a great price and helped us add all the accessories we wanted. He also helped secure great financing terms. We traveled 200+ miles just to do business with Dan and Honda of Ames. I'm a very happy customer!

I worked with Jeff Lisle on purchasing my new Civic Si and he earned a customer for LIFE. Very friendly and informative every step of the way. His walk-through of the car had me feeling right at home before I left. If you're in the market for a Honda, ask for Jeff Lisle.

I bought a car from here back in February and I absolutely love it. However if there is one thing I can tell you it's that a warranty with this dealership is a must! I took my used car from here on a road trip and as we got ready to come home the transmission died. When I first bought the car, the salesman promised me that every car here has undergone all of the maintenance needed to keep it functional and reliable. When I had my car looked at in Chicago, I was told that the reason for my transmission dying was due to lack of maintenance on the vehicle. Do not trust them when they say that their used vehicles are maintained. Luckily for me, I had a warranty that covered the $6400 bill. I was very pleased with this dealership until this happened. No car should blow a transmission at 90k miles, and no car should blow a transmission two months after you buy it. If you must buy a car from here, get a warranty!

awful experience. first off, I needed to get a loan & had previously had a loan through Green State Credit Union which Honda works with. I wanted to stick with that bank, which i specified from the beginning. I found a car & was told to wait to hear back on credit. I waited over 2 hours for Eric to tell me that he talked to multiple credit unions & that we would have to wait till the next day to get things done with Greenstate. He questioned why i had him look at multiple banks if i only wanted Greenstate. I told him that i specified with Tammy prior. I waited 2 hours because i then was told to come back the next day. I had to make another trip from Ankeny to Ames. I decided a few months down the road that i didnt like my car and wanted to trade in. I looked at Honda Of Des Moines and after doing a car fax check on the car from Ames, i was told that my value went down 5,000 due to an accident reported on the car from the previous owner. I was NEVER disclosed this information. I asked to speak to management MULTIPLE TIMES and was NEVER contacted by management directly. I left voicemails and continued to check in with someone to be contacted. I was given the choice to trade in my car and then get something else. issue with that is i wasnt finding anything, was limited in price due to having to pay my loan off, and was LIED TO that i could NOT trade in at any other dealer due to the issue being through Honda Of Ames. Luckily, Karl Chevorlet in Ankeny was AMAZING. GO to them, not Honda Of Ames

Do not trust these people to register your vehicle. They will offer to do it for you, as if they are doing it for your convenience. They registered my tags to expire the month of my birthday. I purchased the vehicle a month before my birthday. This resulted in me paying $825 for a month of registration. Take the time to register your own vehicle, to make sure it is done correctly. They are snakes. They aren't doing you any favors; they just want your money.
