Johnstons Of Elgin, Hawick Review

This shop is in part of the factory building with displays of the company's history around the walls with various descriptions of the origins and usage of wools from alpaca to Marino sheep.
As a shopping experience the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the merchandise is very extensive. Jackets and shirts for men. Skirts, scarves and shawls for women, gloves, socks and hats for all.
There's also an on site cafe for the weary shopper, overall a good experience and I hate shopping!

We had an interesting guide tour at Johnstone of Elgin (in the Borders)

Lovely place, wonderful food, and very welcoming staff.

Very nice knitwear and tweeds made in the factory and a nice cafe, I recommend the scones.

Highest quality I've seen in Scotland but scarcely a bargain hunter's paradise. Cafe is really nice.

A good reminder of the heritage of Hawick. Lovely shop (cashmere is expensive) and a cafe serving teas, coffee, cakes and lunches at moderate prices. The food is good. They also sell wine and beers in small bottles to go with your lunch. Apparently there are factory tours but I have not done this.

We visited Johnstons in Hawick to have lunch. There is parking at the back of Johnstons you can also park outside. I dont think there are any restrictions on the parking time and it's free. Johnstons sell beautiful clothing for men women and babies. Absolutely beautiful cashmere. Johnstons is bright and airy and has a lovely cafe inside where you can eat lunch. They offer a selection of home cooked food and a fantastic selection of home made cakes. The food is lovely. The place is immaculate it's a great place to eat and shop. The staff are lovely and the service is great.

The cashmere products are good as well as the price. We reached there near closing time but the lady reopened the gate for us for extrue time. BTW, the town is beautiful.

Lovely place to go for a cuppa or coffee, meals as well

The mill tour was informative and very well done - I am certainly more likely to buy Johnston's products as a consequence of what I have seen and heard

Top quality Scottish cashmere and some really fabulous deals in the pre Xmas sale.
Came away with far more than planned as always. Christmas shopping done!

Thought it would be more based on how Cashmere is gathered and woven, but it was mainly goods to purchase. I know Cashmere is expensive but their prices are over the top.

Really loved the tour of the working facilities and there were some affordable merchandise available!!

We had a group of disabled people there for coffee and scones - as usual the staff in the shop and cafe were friendly/helpful - moving furniture for access- patient while getting orders sorted - made it a pleasant morning!

Food not great. Given knifes to eat cakes with and were surprised when we requested forks.

Expensive clothes, but the Cafe is spacious, child friendly and good value.

We went for afternoon tea as a treat and what a treat it was, sandwiches made fresh, hot sausage rolls and quiche, small bites of their legendary traybakes and a scone, fresh cream and jam, would highly recommend it....

Bought a beautiful jumper for me and husband, then lunch in their cafe. Helpful staff well kept store, a must for quality cashmere and other clothing from children to adults, don't miss a visit.

Great quality products produced using traditional methods by skilled local workers. It won't be the cheapest option but you pay for great quality.

Had a lovely lunch looked after well also bought a coat in shop and staff couldnot do enough to help would recommed to my friends and family

Although cashmere is a luxury, the Cafe / Restaurant is a bonus. We had "sandwiches", which were enormous, full of good produce and excellent value for money.
There were lots of cakes, but we were too full to try them.
Coffee is probably reasonably priced for Hawick, but very cheap in UK terms!
Will definitely go back.

Fab coffee shop and retial shop selling high quality knitwear and tweed would recommend a visit also u can tour the factory and see the making of their famous knitwear bus tours also ery welcome couldnt find more welcoming staff

Attended the sale, resited this year in the Shop/Coffee shop area! Much smaller than usual but bargains still to be had! Topped up daily, I understand.

This store has a great range of Quality Products boosted by the friendly staff that will go out of their way to help.

The thing about Johnstons is the clothing is simply sumptuous and of you're not paying attention as you select items you will be paying dearly for your shopping. But quality costs and I very much doubt you could find better quality anywhere else on the planet. There is a very nice cafeteria in which to contemplate your purchasing strategy or recover, as you find appropriate. And if you are in any doubt as to the quality of the materials produced here then may I recommend the guided tour by which members of the staff will happily reveal the magic, industry and history of one of Scotland's premiere woollens companies.

Bit difficult to find as we were on foot. Was worth the walk only had a sandwich but it was well presented and tasty. Would go again.

Some absolutely beautiful items for sale in the shop. As well as full price items, there were quite a few which were marked down. There weren't many people there when we visited but there were social distancing signs in the shop and plenty hand sanitizers to use. Face coverings are to be worn whilst inside.

Lovely food, friendly helpful service. Great place to have lunch. Have loved each visit here and left stuffed and happy. My better half loves the Wicked Hot Chocolate and enjoys every visit. Recommended!

Beautiful cashmere garments. Highest quality with prices to match but some bargains. Wife managed to find a half-price cashmere jacket. Factory trips which help to explain why quality is so high. Nice cafe with good selection and specials.

Really worth a visit. Woollen garments are very expensive - but the look, feel, and quality are superb. Enjoyed lunch in the cafe, which was good value.

Lovely lunch of pesto and mozzarella panini with crisps and salad and a pot of tea...at a reasonable cost would highly recommend...
