This is a decent 2yr college. Can be hard to find a good professor who teaches and makes sure students understand material being taught and not make you feel you've wasted money. But when a good professor here it's worth it. Although, the good professors don't last long here. Financial aid can be a hassle. Campus is well kept.
Great education at an affordable price vs. 4 year schools
Was a former student here, years ago. Good school for the serious student looking to learn, and grow in their chosen field. Staff and students were friendly, and outgoing. Extracurricular activities were fun, exciting, and conducive to a learning environment. Great alternative to some 4 year institutions. Or a great start to a four-year institute (by transfer).
I love my Community College . I went for Business Management but changed for a degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. They have save awesome teachers.
I have been using their Chester campus library for a few weeks (all summer weeks, semester class is not in session) to study for my graduate school exam. There is always plenty of QUIET seating, handy outlets, and decent summer hours (8-8 M,T,W,Th). It is honestly the best hidden gem in Chester if you're serious about studying/testing done.
It's a good college at a fair location. Keep in mind that this is a community college and not a four year college. It isn't going to carry the same weight as a true four year college, both with the degrees that it provides and the teaching level administered. The college is clean enough and they are doing some work to being up some of the buildings more to standard. The Midlothian campus is better, but this one presents a prime location being directly off the highway.
They have several computer labs and every teacher I've had has been fair and engaged with students to an acceptable degree (academically). The VA expert nice woman who knows her job well. As a veteran she helped me and my roommate out greatly with setting up the GI Bill and she did all our paperwork quickly and efficiently.
Cashier Deborah in Lumber was awesome! Noone else could tell me where they moved my weird item. She looked it up and sent me to Hardware. Will in Hardware was extremely helpful. Just so professional! These two renewed my faith in Lowes. Thanks to them both.
This is a great affordable college and they have two campuses in two different county in RVA so makes it convenience for almost everyone. There are great professors and also horrible ones but thankfully you can pick the good ones. The financial and admission offices are friendly and helpful. During the Pandemic the offices functioned poorly but thanks lord it s back to normal a bit.
