One of the best museums in the country. Always awesome.

A great small art center with the best price....free

Yesterday Lisa and Molly at the front desk greeted us like old friends. They gave us guidance on the Art Center and folk art sites beyond. In fact, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The exhibits were delightful and intriguing. Don't miss seeing all the bathrooms. Lunch on the patio was tasty and fun.

I always enjoy myself at this center. The exhibits are always interesting.

What a treasure Sheboygan has in the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. I took my mom and we had such a beautiful and inspiring time! I love all of the outsider artists, especially Loy Bowlin(it was his dentures on display and if you don t have a transcendent experience upon witnessing them you have no soul). Be sure to visit each of the restrooms! The front desk staff was extremely warm and helpful. I ll be back soon!

We are so lucky to have a top notch arts center in Sheboygan. Not only are the architecture and bathrooms amazing, but to have contemporary artists in our area is huge.

Beautiful and fun. A bit of a snobbish feel though talking to some of the individuals who frequent the establishment.

I chalk it up to wrong place, wrong time as they had closed up a significant portion of the galleries on exhibit, but the rest of the area was beautiful. The portraits of American sculptural artists/unique homes is incredibly unique.

Free and fun and inspiring and the food at the cafe was great

Our group had a personalized tour and art project. The children decorated art journals and they had a great time!

I had the best time here! I cannot wait to go back. The cafe has great food so you dont even have to leave. It's a bit pricey, but it's really good and convenient. Go when the monarchs are outside!

Excellent experience! Beautiful contemporary artwork

Went to a wedding here. The art was kind of cool. The security personnel were rude as can be. Learn some respect and remember there is a nice way to ask the first time.

It's a beautiful art museum that has local and worldly art displays. There are also art room activities for you to sign up and pay for. Amazing experience, my classroom of 5 year olds enjoyed themselves!

I just visited the free craft area and had a great time even with young children in tow.

I love that we have an art center in Sheboygan, however I feel it could be improved. I was scolded for moving a chair to sit down in, which is a common practice at most art centers so I was surprised. Also, the exhibits don't circulate a lot and most of it is student artwork.

So fortunate to have such an amazing place bringing awesome art, music and much more to Sheboygan. Truly a gem!

A wonderful art collection but the part my granddaughter loves is the creation area.

John Michael Kohler Arts Center they have a little park across the street also they have music and they have a vendor vehicles and a lot of people hang out. Good day to spend and listen to some music an artwork and all the other activities that go on through the year

Interesting, frequently changing exhibits and free admission make the JMKAC worth checking out. Free screenings of independent movies and culture shows are also excellent.

Thanks to donations they do have free admission to most parts, and art classes....summer concerts, etc.. They also have a gorgeous gift shop and a small coffee shop. I love their outdoor garden. Hey I love everything about the ambiance created by JMKAC!

I really loved the wide variety in art types and the cafe and gift shop was an added bonus.

Great Art exhibits, obviously. But also hosts community theatre. Saw a performance of Frozen Jr. by Dare to Dream Theatre (under 18). Great time, show and venue!

I need to express my EXTREME anger and disappointment with the staff of Sheboygan John Michael Kohler Art Center. This morning a coworker and I took 7 participants from our special needs day service program to the arts center for an outing. We were immediately greeted by the woman at the desk with a cold tone asking us which one of us was in charge, who we were, how many n where we were from. It wasn t the questions, since it s common to keep track of visitors, it was the TONE. Within in seconds, n a few steps inside, we were stopped by a young lady running up behind us, quite harshly stating be sure to stay AT LEAST ONE FOOT away from all displays! Within another 2 steps we were met head on by a man who repeated the exact same words to us, just as harshly!! Just in case we weren t smart enough to get it the first time. Within a minute of our arrival we were surrounded by a minimum of 4 visible staff, and 1 kinda hiding. We we told by the man, and I quote, I will remain right with you to INSURE that you keep at least a foot from the displays . He also promptly put himself in our participants face n space to keep him away from something on the wall, which he was plenty far away from. (I wish that participant would have been a hitter cuz you never get in anyone s face!!!)
To all the staff at SHEBOYGAN JOHN MICHAEL KOHLER ART CENTER you are closed mined, rude, and totally unprofessional!!! I will make it my goal to let people know of how your center treated our group of special needs people. No excuse of what is in there, or how it s laid out for space for a wheelchair excuses your attitudes towards us!!! It was unacceptable n UNEXCUSABLE!!! There was plenty of space for the 7 of us to walk around n enjoy the art if we had been given the opportunity!!!! Instead your staff treated us as if we were beneath acceptance causing us to leave not even 10 minutes after arriving!!!
You may not feel we re good enough to walk through your center but the truth is, YOUR art center isn t good enough for us!!!!

Always a treat. Excellent installations. I'm looking forward to The Preserve opening so we can see even more of the collection.

My all-time favorite museum, a true gem of central Wisconsin. The exhibits are constantly rotating and perennially thought-provoking; JMKAC has a way of selecting artists who garner national acclaim for their intelligent and powerful work. The museum's also just the right size to not feel overwhelmed. There are a variety of high-quality events, including the excellent Midsummer Festival of the Arts, classes that engage the local community, and performances, that truly enhance the culture of Sheboygan. If you happen to be in Milwaukee, I would absolutely recommend the drive to see this incredible and quirky place.

A great stop, no admission but have to pay for parking. Gift shop is expensive but has some neat things.

A lot more than art gose in here, check out the website to see what music is playing or events for cooking or dance. A much needed attraction to Sheboygan.

Hands down my FAVORITE place to visit, beautiful thought provoking art in a warm and welcoming environment!

Art fair had a lot of diverse artists, items and price points

A beautiful building filled with interesting folk art. The gift shop has something special for all ages. I was able to surprise my friend with a quick stop in the bathroom. She had no idea that it is an artwork itself. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going back in the Spring.

Astonishingly good! Unique perspective on "art environments," not found in any of the great museums of the world like the Art Institute or the Uffizi. A real gem!

One thing to check before going is which artists are being exhibited when you go. They seem to have about twenty major artists' collections, and since they want to display each artist's work as a whole, i.e., as an art environment, they can't show all of them at one time. The one that I was hoping to see was not on when I went, so I am going to have to come back another time. Still, five stars.

JMKAC is a gem in this community. They do a wonderful job of bringing art and artists to the community enriching countless lives, especially children. My only complaint, and I can't quite explain it, is that it doesn't feel as accessible as some other venues. There is an air of snobbishness or exclusivity that I feel, but cannot prove.
