Booked a table three weeks before visit. Just like it said on their website. No feedback, no feedback called. Visited today and received a nonchalant response with "we are fully booked tonight". Certainly good food, but incredibly poor treatment. Luckily there are other restaurants.

Even though the evening when Johan was not in the kitchen, the food produced .... it was very good ... oh good .... but the evening's chef as well as the waitress ... Judged Us in a way that you have to love !!! Everyone in the company works in a restaurant .... oh we just loved d tough loving ways that the guy met us with !!! All 5 were very satisfied .... oh we will come again !!! Well worth a visit !!!

Ok. I m 47 yrs old, been many places in the world, and this might be one of the top 5 places I have ever eaten. A server in Gothenburg at Gabriel s in the fish market recommended it since he knew the owner. We arrived and couldn t be seated because no reservation, but were allowed to sit at the bar. In hindsight we feel lucky for this because otherwise we would have missed the show from the kitchen. Two cooks (owners) doing magic. Initially treated with a piece of salmon like sushi wrapped in magical items. Wow, can t describe. Could have just eaten that all night and been fine. Then had a tasting of some white asparagus soup, again, magical. I ordered the cod with grilled veggies and wonderful mashed potatoes you only find in Sweden. The cod melted in my mouth like butter. Excellent! My wife ordered roasted duck with cream sauce, new potatoes and ratatouille (overly salted). I don t like duck but this was maybe the best I have ever tasted, and could be converted if I knew all duck could taste like this. We didn t get dessert but observed some amazing desserts coming out of the kitchen. A unique and amazing experience here. If you come to Marstrand it s not to be missed.

Very busy when we were there. The waiter forgot us several times .. several dishes were missing from the menu. Good food when it came ..

Very nice place with a big touch of French feeling. The owner Johan is a such a great person! We've spent more than 2 hours having really gret time with him. Very recomended spot to visit!

Cozy local, the food very good! Even though the entire room was filled, it did not feel noisy! Stay in place with my fiancee, for the best oysters of the trip, a very good entrecot and a very good cheese tray. The staff very pleasant and insecure in their recommendations. Thanks for a top night!

Very good food, nice staff. However, a small shortage of the Gin and Tonic range as well as the attendance of serving staff.

Bad treatment. Stood and waited for a table outside and once they see us, another party comes walking as they give the table before us, which was the last table. Was referred to other restaurants on the island.

By the time my husband and I got to the island of Marstrand last night, around 8:30 pm, everything was closed, even the restaurants that Google said were open. After entering Johan's Tavern, a few people sitting at the bar said they too were closed. The owner, Johan, called to check on one potential place, only to find out they too were closed. This was yesterday, September 2, apparently enough out of the high season for all Marstrand restaurants. Johan and another gentleman there gave us a free drink (red wine for me and a beer for my husband), as well as a "small appetizer," a shrimp toast kind of dish, that had a wonderful crunchy wafer bottom, topped with shrimp inside a creamy mixture. Total price - Zero Dollars! Johan was above-the-top helpful and saved us from a starving evening. We would definitely come back, and recommend his place ver highly.

Favorite restaurant at Marstrand. Cozy and wonderful environment.

Ate recently dinner at Johans Krog and in summary I was very happy. The halibut was exceptionally good. Likewise the beverage range. Let's be honest and say that not everything was perfect, even when it came to, for example, the service provided, but it was weighed up by an exuberantly friendly staff who quickly solved every problem even if it was caused by themselves. That together with a very genuine and also nice atmosphere makes me feel that I can happily give a five in grades after all. The price levels are not immediately low, but it is good value for money. If you only have one night at Marstrand, I would highly recommend that you eat your dinner here.
