I agree with many of the comments and reviews on Google about Westerbekes customer service being nonexistent. I have tried for 3 days now to get a hold of somebody in Parts, left messages and still no one has returned my call. It s pretty frustrating when you own a $7000 generator and there s no one available to help me order parts or answer questions. When you do get through to the operator the standard response is always to look up your local Westerbeke dealer In your area. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in my purchase of a Westerbeke. I would encourage anyone looking for a new generator not to buy Westerbeke.

I purchased items back in March of 2020. 3 items were back ordered and I was told 2-3 weeks. Pandemic hits and it's understandable they are still back ordered. I check back in May, they say mid - June. Still nothing. They charged me for these items and are not providing the product. This is completely illegal. I just called and left a vm, and emailed them to refund my money that they basically stole.
The worst experience I have ever had with any retail company. For anyone looking to buy westerbeke products or need replacement parts. I highly suggest to avoid them all together. If you need parts, good luck.

$685 for an alternator for a m3-20b and it s only 11 years old. Everyone on the phone is rude and seem uncaring. The prices for parts are insane and one could say this is price gouging How can they justify this price?

I purchased a Westerbeke Diesel 5.5kw Generator with a 5 year warranty. Had it installed and serviced at Westerbeke authorized shops less than a year ago. . It failed before it had 13 operating hours on it. The owners manual says the initial break in period is 50 hours. The Westerbeke authorized repair shop I had look at it told me the repair this unit needed is often not covered by warranty so i will need to pay for the repair and possibly be refunded some or all of the cost depending on Westerbeke's decision about the warranty.
Other than the two and a half weeks it took to get the repairs made, and having to pay then wait to find out if warranty will cover the repair. Been waiting two months and I've been told they're going to honor the warranty- but I've not received the funds yet, Westerbeke's customer service could use some improvement. I saw a reply from Westerbeke to my initial review and they asked me for my contact information as they would like to resolve my issue. I sent them my contact info but never heard back.

I just popped up the website and saw the negative reviews and need to share my own experience. We own a 1998 houseboat on Dale Hollow Lake and the Genset is a Westerbeke 12.5 BTG - 1998 Model. I just rolled over 10,000 hours and so far, I have only changed engine oil, governor oil, belts, fuel lift pump, and performed tune-ups (including plugs, wires, dist, cap, and rotor). Parts are readily available and several mechanics around the lake can give advice on these popular and tough gensets.

No customer service at all!! I ordered parts on 12/18/2019. Received confirmation email the next day, said parts would be shipped out within 24 hours. I paid for two day shipping. I have not received my parts yet. Finally talked to them this morning 01/02/2020. Was told they were closed from the 18th of December until the 2nd of January. I should have been informed in my confirmation email that the parts order would not be processed until the 2nd . Knowing that some of my parts were not available and would not start the process until they returned in Jan. I understand they close to retool the shop but there should be some kind of customer service for this world wide operation.

This is a shell of a company being run into the ground by the son of the founder. Dealing with them for the last 9 years has been absolute hell on me and my business. Product support for parts is a joke. Customer service is non-existent. Parts orders for in stock items take around 3-4 weeks to get through their convoluted system of dealer networks since not all dealers can order direct through them (stupid). Parts that have to come from the Westerbeke factory take well over two months. I still have simple replacement parts like hoses and gaskets on order from early January. As of 2018 they stopped offering any propulsion engines and only have a few over priced, poorly designed Generators. Do yourself a tremendous favor and buy a Northern Lights generator.
