I have come here for years...A more personal level of service then I get form the "big box" garden centers.
I bought a maple tree and some gopher traps at J & L today.
I called ahead to see if they had the tree I wanted, and they were as helpful and courteous on the phone as they were in person.
They have a large selection of plants when most nurseries are letting their stock empty out for the season.
I live 25 miles away and there are nurseries much closer to me, but J & L is my only nursery now. See ya next spring!
This is one of those rare local businesses that has survived corporate competition. This is for a good reason. They are friendly, knowledgable, and they give suckers to your two-year-old. Stop by for anything you need in the yard. They can help.
I have been going to J & L for 15 years. They have core staff members that are very helpful and know a ton about what they stock. Their summer staff that rotates each year will do their best, but in my opinion, they may be better suited to lift stuff into your car rather than give you garden advice.
Their product line is the "normal" stuff. I hope that they put more of the new plants into their line-up over the next few summers, because right now, I have to buy the really new/ eye-popping plants from the web or mail-in.

The plants a high quality and so is the staff! They are super knowledgeable and will help you find whatever you need. They know exactly what grows well here and if they aren't sure there are numerous experts on staff they will track down. We buy almost all our plants here, the ones we haven't are on the rare occasion they are out of stock and they recommended another nursery that they knew had them. Amazing service we love doing business with them.
I live in Ogden and wish you were closer because it seems when I can't find something I'm looking for around here, I call you and you have it. Love your store.
They have an incredibly patient and helpful staff. I always do in with a load of questions and they are always willing to spend as much time with me as I need. They seem to have plenty of staff through the summer even with all of the traffic they get at times. I just saw this summer that they have a ton of free classes for gardening, lawn care, etc. that I really want to check out.
I've been coming here for years and prefer J&L to other garden centers. We've bought top soil for our garden, sand for pavers, starter plants, and seeds. Great prices, friendly service.
I have been a customer since 1975 and have always enjoyed the personable, professional attention from their sales/office staff. They have also been wonderful to work with our school/students on various projects.
