Booked the king suite room at a major discount on agoda. The room was great with ample space. Hotel slippers were given when requested. Overall, good hotel with great location. But come on, $5 for a cheap disposable toothbrush?

I was searching for a hotel and came across Ivy Boutique Hotel in Chicago. The price was reasonable but the website was vague as to which fitness facility it was affiliated with and how close it was to the hotel. This is important to us as we wanted to use the facilities but also didn't want to have to cab to them (the gym mentioned in the other reviews in 2018 and earlier is now closed). I sent an e-mail at 120 PM yesterday and did not hear back. I followed up again this morning and finally heard back, but the hotel desk refused to honour the hotel price from the day before. Had they responded in a timely manner, I would have been able to book that price - the price was still valid the last time that I looked that day, at 5 PM. The woman who I was e-mailing, Lejla, blamed this on a "glitch" in the system; however, had she responded within a couple hours as what should have happened, I would have been able to book that price. The new price is more than 2x the price that I saw yesterday.
Given the situation, the price should absolutely be honoured, as this was an issue on their end. I responded to her last e-mail and never heard back - talk about poor customer service.

Visited this hotel for a birthday celebration on the rooftop. The night was perfect. Great ambiance. The drinks were a little watered down so not sure who was the bartender 8/25/18 but we need alcohol in the drinks please lol. Other than that, everything was clean and enjoyable.

Rooms were very nice and the suite was worth the upgrade. Unfortunately the rooftop bar was unavailable the night we stayed due to a private event. This would have been nice to know prior to booking the room.

The outside of the hotel does not do justice to the beautiful and modern interior. The room was tastefully decorated with artwork. When we first arrived, the room was cold and we tried turning it up, but they had to manually turn it on from the front desk. It is still winter, so it took some time for it to kick in. We also had to request the robes, as they were not already in the room. The bathroom was amazing, sparkling clean. The rainforest shower was AWESOME! It also came with a handheld wand. It s big enough to fit two people.
The bed was really low to the ground and it had a wooden bed frame that stuck out further than the bed. Although there was rubber corner covers, I hit my leg AND my foot on it. Truly painful. The pillows were soft and firm and the mattress was comfortable. Unfortunately, after staying out late, the alarm clock went off at 6am!! (I did not set it!)
The staff person that checked us in was friendly and accommodating. She quickly worked to solve the problems. Housekeeping was also friendly. There was one staff person that didn t speak at all or greet us despite looking us straight in the face!
Overall, a wonderful stay, but it does have its drawbacks.

the most BEAUTIFUL hotel I ever been to.

the most BEAUTIFUL hotel I ever been to.
they were so polite and kind to us and we were a very young couple that were out of our element.
they were always making sure our room was clean and always quick room service.
I loved the tub in the room and it was sooo quite you could not hear the traffic even though IVY is located in the middle of Downtown.
I would recommend this hotel anytime.
it has great location and everything around it is walking distance especially the navy pier. it was a 10 min walk to get there.
if you go to ivy for the first time in Chicago you will definitely fall in love with Chicago and IVY Boutique.
it was worth every penny spent!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 days (Sept 13-16 2014)to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I've got to say, we will stay here again! The staff were very friendly! Free wifi in the room (7th floor). We went to Giordanos and bought some frozen deep dish pizzas to take home and they kept them in their freezer for us. So here's my review,
Staff= excellent!
Room=awesome!! (Bathroom shower freekin awesome!!!)
Rooftop bar= very quite, but we enjoyed!
Walking distance to mag mile (2blocks)
Overall I rate this a 'must stay here if your looking to romance the lady!

I booked here somewhat hesitantly after seeing a few pictures online that made the guest rooms appear small, but it was outweighed by the excellent location. Boy was I pleasantly surprised when we checked into our spacious, stylish and incredibly comfortable queen room. Not only was the room well-appointed, but the staff was professional, courteous, and went the extra mile in suggesting alternative rooftop terraces when they told us their terrace wad closed for the season. Best of all, I had one of the best nights of sleep I can remember and I am notoriously picky about mattresses. There's no doubt we'll be back on our next visit! Location, price, amenities, all exceeded expectations.

My wife and I were looking for a romantic place to stay downtown and found the Ivy. Overall the experience was good. I would say if you are looking for a place that leaves you alone this is great, we felt like we were the only ones there the entire time, even the staff seemed trained to not engage or interact with guest. Room was clean, and large. I think maybe if you want a street view ask for one, otherwise you might get the alley... a couple feet from office windows, they could see us and we could see them, awkward.

I don t usually give 3 stars. Pros: rooms are huge and modern, nice location. Cons: no 24h front desk and late check in staffs are friendly but not professional at all. They should train all the night staffs to be professional. Also, not enough towels in the bathroom. But as I said rooms are huge and comfy which is great.

The staff (guy) at check in was very rude.

Nice stay for the price. Location is excellent, within walking distance to many restaurants, Michigan Ave, and my doctors office. Rooms are in need of paint touch ups. The water temperature was never reliable. There was a strong odor of marijuana throughout the hotel. Having a fridge to store groceries for my long stay was a plus.

Hotel is nice but housekeeping are thieves stealing your money claiming false smoking fee and other charges after you check out. Beware of the thieves for some odd reason they're stealing customers money and if you look through all their reviews this is not by far the first complaint about housekeeping charging wrongfully and for no reason!

I stayed here for my honeymoon. I have tried to get in touch with the general manager. At one point in time I was told they didnt have one. I was charged a $250 smoking fee. I can't smoke, I'm allergic and also have ovarian cancer. Even the nice lady whom I spoke with said she never smelled smoke in my room. They have footage of my husband going outside several times to smoke. The lack of customer service makes me sick. While the hotel was seemingly nice, the lack of cleaning irks me. Check in the corners of the tub, under your bed. I feel like that fee was just an attempt to get money.

Love this place, outstanding service from the staff, very clean updated rooms . Great rooftop patio. It s rare I ve stayed at a place and have this much good to say. The general manager always made sure we were happy. She runs the place very professionally. I would recommend to friends and family. Reasonable priced compared to other hotels in the area. Located in the middle of all the downtown action.

We normally stay here when visiting Chicago. But, this last visit was a disaster. Couldn t get towels and rags until the next morning. Centipedes were in the room. Air conditioner would not work. It was so hot the floors felt heated. I think we were over the boiler room or something!. Ice cream melted because we had to hunt down utensils because room service forgot them. Buffalo wings were horrible. And valet is down at this time, the front desk clerk didn t have any suggestions for parking. The worst stay. I didn t expect this from the ivy.

I really like this hotel. The location is perfect, just two blocks from the miracle mile. The only thing is it's expensive already and everything is going to require a tip (if you don't wanna seem cheap) including the delivery of tiny ice buckets to your room. The valet service was prompt but again, very expensive. The room was comfy and clean and overall I enjoyed the 2 night stay, but I'll probably save this one for very special occasions only.

Horrible experience. Checked in only to be told that tv s in hotel didn't work. I literally had called and made reservation an hour earlier, would have appreciated them telling me before taking my money. Got in shower next morning and my girlfriend noticed there was only one towel in bathroom, which she had used. She called front desk and asked that they send a towel immediately, since I was in shower without a towel available. Towel never came. Front desk told my girlfriend SHE should track down housekeeping. Later, around 9 am we took a walk, and returned to find us locked out of room, they checked us out before we checked out. When I DID check out I asked to speak to manager, they said manager would call me....still waiting

Had to keep going downstairs to get ice. They do not automatically clean your room or replenish your towels. You call them and tell them when to do it. It was a pretty hotel and the room was nice but I would never pay full price to stay there.

This is the worst hotel!!! I was just threaten by the GM James who doesn't think the safety of his guests are important. I had water leaking all over the floor of my room, called for assistance and they told me to wait until the am. Over week now and I have yet to get this resolved. This hotel is negligent and does not have proper management at all. This don't keep their word and do nothing to ensure their guests actual were safe during their stay.

The hotel has a nice charm. The rooftop bar is also great. We enjoyed some cocktails with an amazing city view. Amenities in the bedroom really took the place from a 5 to a 3. The main blanket had a duvet cover that is torn in half. The blanket inside was completely exposed and we didn t realize until the next day. It s gross. They also did not have a fitted sheet, they just covered the mattress with a thin flat sheet. As you move around at night the mattress becomes exposed, so gross to wake up on a bare matress with stains. Our vanity didn t drain- at all. I avoided using it. Front desk staff seemed annoyed at all times. Overall I wouldn t stay here again.

Beautiful hotel. Central location. Close to everything. Room was spacious and modern. Bathroom was incredible. The rooftop bar is very nice. The cocktails were delicious and our bartender, ofelia,
was fantastic. She was attentive and personable. We will definitely be back just to see her :) I definitely recommend this hotel.

Paper thin walls. Was up until 5am. Young people smoking weed and playing LOUD music from the time I walked in at 7pm until 5am. Called the front desk 5 times! They were nonchalant. The morning front desk staff was pleasant and professional, however. She gave me a complimentary late check out so that I could sleep. According to her, staff can phone the police and have unruly guests escorted out after the guests ignore repeated attempts from front desk staff to keep quiet. Know I know...Everything else was great. Loved the soaking bathtub!

The bed was phenomenally uncomfortable and the only bedding on it was a grubby comforter with some sort of strange cover partly over it but not completely so I was able to see how old and worn it was. I guess because of COVID they aren't providing sheets? Also the floor was dirty by the desk and all the furniture, including the bed, is mere inches off the ground so definitely don't stay here if you suffer from back issues.

My daughter booked an executive suite for two nigh...

My daughter booked an executive suite for two nights to celebrate my Mother's Day. There were four of us: me, my husband, daughter and her friend. We checked in on Sunday, May 13 and checked out on Tuesday, May 15 . The reason for the two nights was because I was scheduled for outpatient surgery on Monday at Northwestern Hospital two blocks away and she wanted to make sure we would make it on time for my outpatient 7:00 a.m surgical appointment.

Everything went fine until it started to rain on Monday. By Monday night during one of the NBA playoff games, we lost complete power to all three televisions. However, cable service started going out Sunday night before the rain. The Cable system was through Direct TV.

After calling the hotel desk, speaking to the clerk (Dana) AND her manager, we were given no consideration. I asked if my daughter could be given some concessions on her bill. We were told no discounts are allowed. I also asked if there was another room we could stay in because everyone was really eager to see the Warriors/Rockets game. We were told cable service was disrupted throughout the hotel. We even asked if there was another hotel we could stay at (there are plenty in this area), whose cable service was not disrupted and was told we would have to do the calling (each hotel) ourselves. The bottom line is nothing was offered for our inconvenience, no discount coupon to apply to our next visit (if we choose to return, which we won't), nor was there a cocktail offered or complimentary meal offered to make up for the loss of cable service leading to no television for the rest of Monday night and part of Tuesday.

The message we received from this experience was that customer satisfaction (when problems occur) is not important and that we did not matter. With so many hotels in this Streeterville area, and with Ivy Boutique Hotel competing with a host of others, especially the chains (Embassy Suite, Hyatt, etc) this is a very negative approach to customer satisfaction and can seriously impact their business.

The manager obviously did not care about us and failed to realize that hotel guests are the reason for the business. We will never return to the Ivy Boutique Hotel.

I was very disappointed with all the random hanging out of other individuals in front of the hotel entrance and in the lobby. I was also very irritated that the front desk phone was busy all night. We paid good money for an over night stay and over all I was not pleased. It was a lot of traffic in and out of the hotel. We will not return!!!!
