My daughter with severe trauma & PTSD traveled by Uber for her first apptmt. She just graduated from college and has taken charge in being proactive for her mental health. She called to let them know that she d be a few minutes late. Mary, the receptionist, said it was fine. When she got there, my daughter was told that she could not be seen and Anna the therapist walked her over to where my daughter had to pay. She would not take her for the remaining 50 minutes of her apptmt! What kind of therapists are they!?! As a business owner, I always give clients the remainder of their scheduled time. I understand that sometimes, things are out of our control. The kicker is that Mary asked her if she d like to reschedule! I would rate no stars, but one is required to share experience. So disgusted! And thank you to Mary & Anna for your contributions to my daughter s anxiety attack! Kudos to you
If you need LGBT, couples, family, trauma, or eating disorder counseling, check them out. They operate on a sliding scale and they will work with you if you cannot afford usual fees for therapy
I think this place is smoothly straddling the line between scam and service. This review contains some really important information to know about this place before you sign on with them.
I called ICP to initiate intake. After two phone discussions, they sent me an email of important things to note before my appointment, along with an attached packet, which was referenced in the following way: "In preparation for your intake appointment, please print out the attached materials single-sided, fill them out in their entirety, and bring to your intake appointment."
The morning before my afternoon appointment, I printed the packet to fill it out and bring it, expecting, as the email indicated, that it would just be a lot of personal information to fill out.
Contained in the packet, literally tucked away on the ninth page, in fine-print on a form asking about scheduling, I learn that ICP requires once a week minimum sessions. Ok, that's normal-ish, I think to myself. But on another page, is the following statement: "All sessions are charged, except when your therapist is on vacation or you take an approved leave of absence. You are allowed a two-week vacation per year for which you will not be charged." Now my red flags are up- two weeks vacation? Approved leave? Is this employment or therapy?
And further, something to sign off on: "I understand that if I cancel a session and if a makeup session is not possible, I am responsible for payment of the canceled session." I very much understand last minute cancellation fees. However, canceling a session with reasonable notice and paying for it anyway seemed ridiculous to me.
Furious that such an important scheduling/payment structure is just quietly lurking within a packet that was introduced as something to fill out, I call to say that I'm no longer interested, and very disappointed about the lack of transparency and clarity. I was still charged the $60 intake fee because I canceled within 24 hours [the one piece of information they DO make abundantly clear- of course]. So as I said, it straddles that line- sure I was aware of the charge for cancelling last minute, but crucial information is withheld until you go to fill out a packet, which, very reasonably, someone might do within the day before their appointment.
I had to sit through the lecture on the phone about reading the packet earlier than the day of my appointment, which as a grown person, I did not need. However, if this institution is interested in clarity, transparency, and legitimacy, might I recommend a LOT more honesty and attention drawn to such a highly strict and unusual mandatory weekly payment? Two phone calls and an email provides plenty of opportunities to share this information. Unless, perhaps, this institution is NOT interested in more transparency or legitimacy, as I currently suspect.
My friend recommend this place to me. I tried several times to make an appointment for intake session. I can understand that if you're not able to serve more people or have other difficulties. You can just let me know honestly. Always answer phone calls with an impatient tone. Then just leave me wait forever. Never call back as they said.
