It is now 12 years since I left INSA Lyon, Telecom department, and still as happy to have made this school whose very good reputation I have regularly measured in the business world. A good diversified teaching team, a great openness to the world of research and a good openness to that of the company. What is more, a real effort to open up to the international market, which I have been able to take advantage of. I have also seen the campus improve in terms of the quality of the premises and accessibility by public transport, which is now very easy, and I think that we must continue in this direction to modernize the campus and to connect it with + in + on the city. Continue like that ! :)

Each year the UDDJ "A Doua de Jazz" festival is held for the close friends. I participated in its creation in 1993 for the photo part. This is the only festival organized 100% by students in France. The 26th edition is no exception to the rule. As always the programming is high level. The concert venues are on or near the INSA campus. The festival pass is very affordable.
I will add photos that is not missing. It's just beautiful to see that the adventure continues.

The French National Academy of Applied Sciences Lyon is one of France's leading institutions of higher education and research (Grande cole).
With a campus near Lyon, it is easily accessible from the city center and Central Station. The expansive grounds are fully equipped with a variety of research, educational and exercise facilities and buildings.
Our school is considered one of the highest level universities in Europe for the training of engineers and researchers, and is very popular with students, companies and researchers.
One of the characteristics of our school is not only the demand for a high level of science and technology but also the demand for the active acquisition of humanities, soft skills and exercise.
Another feature is internationality. Our school is one of the most active universities in France to accept foreign students and researchers. We are also active in exchanges with Japan, conducting joint research projects with Tohoku University, the University of Tokyo, Kobe University, etc., and exchanging international and double degree students.
The strength of our school is that various factors such as academic level, research level, humanities level, proximity to the city, and diversity of students are in harmony.

Great public engineering school, created in 1957, recruiting mainly post-baccalaureate (70% of the outgoing promo approximately). INSA Lyon is part of the network of INSA (with Toulouse, Renne, Rouen and Strasbourg).
INSA Lyon trains more than 800 engineers a year and has a total of 4800 students (in integrated preparation, engineering and PhD).
The engineering cycle offers 12 specialized departments (computer science, telecom, mechanical, energy and environmental, civil engineering ...).
Numerous laboratories and partnerships (CNRS), make INSA the second school in term of research CA, with more than 14M per year.
The Associative Life is very developed and very rich: more than 100 associations, sports, cultural, humanitarian and others animate the campus.
The most famous: The 24 Hours of INSA, Karnaval Humanitarian, the festival A Doua Jazz.
INSA Lyon's Student Office is one of the largest in France, in size and budget.

A big step backwards, if one is used to the German education system.
You work all day long but often have the feeling that you have not learned anything in the evening.
Due to the compulsory attendance and the lack of choices, the feeling arises that one does not learn for later life, but only for his graduation.
From the equipment ago some things are very topical, for example the computer rooms or the CNC milling, other like the software infrastructure which lags far behind the state of the art.
The cafeteria is not for nothing the nickname "Beurk". The dormitories are basically ok, in any case for the first months to get along, but are too expensive.
On the other hand, I feel really good about the campus campus: there are 9 tennis courts, a swimming pool, rugby and football pitches and, in addition to compulsory physical education classes, various performance groups in a variety of sports.

Badly kept campus. I came here on Erasmus from University College Dublin, hoping to find good services to live up to the name that this campus bears. However, until a few weeks ago, grass was unkept and a lot of litter lying around (still the case)
The campus is currently a huge construction site, with footpaths being used by construction machinery to circulate. Many buildings also close at 6, so studying late together with a group of friends is not often possible, especially if you have a small room like me.
Also, the fact that you are forced to "lose your room keys" during weekdays (and within specific times) is not convenient. In fact, there are no open buildings during the weekend so if like me you lose your keys on a Saturday morning, you're stuck outside the door until at least Monday morning unless you've friends who let you sleep in their room for the weekend.... Not great!
Also, in Informatique (Computer science), there are no sockets in lecture theaters. How are people supposed to do programming and try out things the lecturer is explaining to the class without a socket?
Unfortunately, supports for students are lacking.
