Disturbing experience with the Director, Mrs Franken
Had a really unpleasant experience with the director and founder of the institute, Ms Franken.
We did a zoom call together with my son with her and late in the interview she mentioned that the language teacher was Flemish (we were inquiring about Dutch B), i then asked for an interview with that teacher to be able to make the assessment if this would be the right teacher, as Flemish can be a bit different than Dutch and there is the accent aspect, aside the general things like could Julian and the teacher get along, teaching style and so on. I made a small joke to her about the Belgian language.
She then said we would just need to complete the registration form and only then we would be able to talk to the language teacher. I told her i wanted to speak to the teacher before, but she insisted and i eventually agreed, after she pushed the teacher hard and told me she spoke perfectly Dutch, just with a minor Belgian accent.
After sending in the form she directly sent me a mail to confirm the registration and pointed out i agreed to the terms and conditions (it wasn't something automatically generated, she wrote it herself).
I felt already tricked, but it got worse.
There was a problem with the mailbox of my son (maxed out) and they tried to contact him a few times, i then supplied them with another e-mail address and they made the appointment.
In the mean time ms Franken reached out to the school and started complaining about us to the school, that we were very late with the application, that Julian had bad communication, that i rescheduled the appointment a few times (which she agreed to) and generally the tone was very superior.
She embarrassed us while complimenting the counterpart Teacher at my son's school about how professional she was.
Very disappointing behaviour and almost child like communication from the side of Mrs Franken, who appears to be also the sole founder of the institute (checked on Chamber of Commerce).
She then also went on to include several team members including the Flemish teacher and informed her that i had made a joke about the Belgian language and took it out of context, as to kind of 'create a reason why to not working with us' as clients, create a dent in my character ... so she could save face in front of her colleagues while remaining her ego streak.
In the end she mailed us saying she was "cancelling our registration", which she tricked us into in the first place, and also ... "she wouldn't charge us any fees", AS IF we were going to pay anything for this farce.
The service at IBID Eduction could be described as very unprofessional and very money driven, would not recommend to anyone.
Me and my son felt really disrespected as well and embarrassed in front of the school.
Another institute we approached was offering us a free trial lesson right from the beginning and that already felt more welcoming and professional.
