I always have a great time at HPC. The only request is that they clean and update some of the vent fans. I was not affected, but several people in my party stated that it was extremely too smoky on one crowded night. For a regular smoker, I'm almost certain it was negligible, but that kind of thing might keep new smokers from returning.
This place is very friendly. The owners don't try and sell you anything you don't need. Ive come here quite a few times for personal items and for gifts and have had a pleasant experience each time. They have a TON of cigars and a ton of cigar accessories. They also have an outdoor private patio for smoking as well as a large indoor smoking area. Well worth the visit.
Great Down to Earth Cigar Lounge. Not fancy but has atmosphere with a great chill vibe. BYOB is a great option, but you need to spend at least $20 to go in the lounge. Also, their hours are too short on the weekend closes at midnight just about the time you starting really feeling the vibe.
Very nice place. Nice inside and patio space. Great selection of cigars. I found my new cigar lounge.
Great cigar selection, but the lounge is lacking. Unfinished drywall, poorly sealed windows, and generally feels run-down. If you are looking for a nice place to relax with a fine cigar, this isn't it. It feels more like an old smoking lounge in a bus station, though it has plenty of room to hold maybe 40 people. Although with that many it would be quite smokey in here.
Very nice shop. Good selection of quality brands. Friendly staff in a great location. My cigar was a bit dry but we are in Chicago.
It's pretty cool, they just need to open later & upgrade the bathroom & other things... also allow people to play Music!
This place is in a nice area and has a broad selection if cigars but this is the only cigar lounge I know of where you have to spend $20 to access the lounge. The lounge isn't even impressive! This is a quick stop joint to get a cigar to puff on the road. Not a great lounge if you are used to lounging in quality.
Nice place. Nice selection. I enjoy coming here. Would definitely recommend this spot.
Nice place to chill andwith varieties of cigars to choose from.
Best cigar joint in the chicagoland area!!! They get a slight point deducted for opening on time! lol
NEVER OPEN ON TIME!!! Disrespectfully late all the time! So if you think you going to shop before work or before you catch a flight or do Anything around 10am forget about it
Grab yourself a smoke and setback and bring your your drank
Nice atmosphere, good music and great cigars and hookahs...
Really great selection! Super friendly workers. Its a bit messy but definately a one stop shop. Tons of rare cigars as well.
Great place service is always great and so is the product
Great cigar lounge in the heart of Hyde Park. Women are welcome. Friendly patrons. Indoor and outdoor seating. Go during a Bears or Bulls game. Very nice and knowledgable staff.
My daughter gave me the most Wonderful Birthday Party @ Hyde Park Cigars!!! Enjoyed the ambiance, and comrodery!
Great selection, friendly staff, but hours are inconsistent! Door says open at 10, but it's really 11am!
They have a beautiful selection of cigars if you smoke it they probably got it and the people that work there are very warm and welcoming they make your first experience seem like you have been there before very laid-back cool place to visit
Something different to do in Hyde Park. You can smoke a cigar with friends or order hookah in a variety of flavors. I prefer to visit in the summer when there s outdoor seating... and more ventilation.
Have a nice selection of cigars but never open the time they have listed. Its sat 11:40 and they list opening hour at 10:00am. Its like this every week. Management needs to change the time they have listed since they are never open before noon... its really rude especially for patrons who travel a good distance to patronize here. Call before you head over here!
Extremely overpriced. While selection is expansive, it's not overly impressive. Staff not extremely knowledgeable beyond brand and strengths. The minimum $20 purchase rule to access to the lounge area is ridiculous. The addition of the hookahs has made the lounge area, normally extremely crowded, even worse. Very difficult to enjoy with the extreme noise levels. Music blasting from boom boxes creates an environment where yelling is almost mandatory to converse with the person next to you. Lounge area is dumpy. I suggest one spend the time, money, and energy driving to a different shop. I used to easily spend $300-$400 per month in this shop. Now I wouldn't purchase a book of matches and feel comfortable about it.
Nice place with a big selection of cigars. Graet hospitality and a nice room to smoke and relax
Great lounge, great selection of cigars, and great cigar aficionados.
More so an update but the rating for me has dropped to probably a 3.5 if could actually be truthful. Having been to this cigar lounge on more than a few occasions I ve noticed that lots of the cigars have mold on them my guess would be because the humidity is too high. Also another gripe would be that it s $20 a gentleman to enjoy your cigar in the rear in which no special amenities are included. All in all it is a decent spot to chill and have a cigar if you carefully inspect your cigar and are willing to spend above $20. It is byob and maybe that s their way of making sure they are compensated
They didn't have charcoal, but I didn't expect them too. So they met my expectations exactly.
Horrible. Bought cigars that fell apart. Customer Service SUCKS
As the owner of a cigar lounge I must admit they have a great SELECTION ......one of the best I have seen.
The cigar shop had been upgraded. The cigar lounge needs the same attention to upgrades. It had so much potential and its located in a nice convenient area in hyde park... close to shopping and restaurants.
Stopped in at 1pm for a lunch smoke..was told that there is a $20 min spent to use the lounge..told him the min spend starts at 4pm..he said it has changed. Left and probably will not return. I smoke 708s and can buy them for $8 at Tobacco Plus, at HP they charge $10 for the same cigar. They really need to get their pricing straight and get consistent with their lounge-use policy.
In the neighborhood on business and wanted to get a little information on my new found interest. The worker really hates his job and boss apparently. I barely got a hello. I was asking what's a good cigar for beginners and the response I got was what do you like? Well "what do women usually get?" They get everything. Ok....do you all rent the space out? "Yes." Ok.......well I guess I'll leave now WITHOUT purchasing anything. He seemed like I knocked on his door asking for money and was bothering him!
Hyde Park Cigars is my absolute favorite Chicago retailer for a premium selection of cigars. The staff have a sommelier s knowledge of all levels and grades of cigars. I m told a redesign of the venue is on the way and I can t wait to see it. I strongly encourage The beginner or experienced cigar connoisseur to pay this venue a visit!! Thank you for the experience Big Six and the #HydeParkCigar staff. Sincerely, -Attorney Te Smith SAGlaw, PC
They are a nice place but the place is expensive compared to many other cigars places
Under construction but great potential and a huge variety of cigars
Great BYOB cigar spot. Owners are knowledgeable, and have a huge array of cigars to choose from.
Dont get here qd much as I would like but its always a good time.
Service was great. Andy( clerk) had alot of knowledge
New to the cigar game but the place is great, decent customer service and a ton of accessories...
They need to do some work to the lounge area it need some ventilation and there should not be a certain amount you have to spend to get in the lounge area as long as you buy a cigar that should be enough.
Cool place to hang..A very bad place to have a party we could not turn the music up they rush use to clean up. Also you have to pay for parking and you have to buy a cigar for ten dollar and to enter the party.. Not a good experience.
This spot is a hidden gem for Brothers and Sisters of the Leaf. I've had almost everything they stock so there's no new discoveries for me but what they do carry is solid. The outdoor private patio is fantastic. It's got two flat screen tv's. It was great just lounging with other smokers savoring some great cigars. It's places like this that makes Hyde Park one of the coolest neighborhoods in Chicago.
Nice selection of cigars and good customer service!!!
Decent area in Hyde park to have a stick. Doesn't seem to be many other choices around that's probably why the cigars amongst other things are over priced. Interest to see what it looks like when the renovations are done.
New to the cigar game but like the place the people are nice and a nice place to have a stick with good people and friends i try to go 2 time a week
6/30/18 Novice to cigars. ~3rd time in shop. Have not smoked in lounge. Retail space not as stuffy as previous visits. Staff has always been helpful. 5% off for cash purchases.
I went for the 1st time for a paint and sip it was awesome. But the bathrooms were unclean the ceiling was horrible they need to remodel it looks horrible to be in hyde park.
Nice and friendly Staff. One of the best selections in town.
I went I to check the place out and the two workers seemed to have a real attitude for some reason. I would rather smoke outside in the heart of winter than to give them my money.
Very Nice environment.. Everyone is welcome ,even for new Cigar beginners or not . It's BYOB and outside food is welcome
The attendant did well helping me find good cigars in my price range for a bachelor party. Two issues: First, the attendant did have the quirk of thrusting cigars under my nose when he wanted me to see how good they smelt. He could be a little less aggressive. Second, the attendant always expressed his personal opinion when recommending cigars. It would be nice if he referenced more objective measures, like published reviews of cigars. Telling people how the cigar is priced relative to other cigars with similar reviews would be convincing. If you are not an expert in cigars, and I am not, then when the sales person simply gives you his opinion of how good a cigar is, you never know if he is just getting rid of bad inventory. On the whole I liked it. The new building is good.
The variety of foods that can be found here is impressive. Especially since the foods are fresh.
Great cigar selection. I highly recommend this place
I've never smoke a cigar in my life and it was ahmazing! I love the fact they have a Terrance in the back.
Very wide selection of cigars. But, being predominantly a pipe smoker, I was more interested in that sort of thing. Fairly small selection of tins and bulk tobacco, but at least a little bit of everything. I think it was safe to say I knew more about the pipes and tobacco than the fellow working at the time, but he was happy to let me browse and take a closer look at the pipe case. All in all, I'll shop here again.
If I could give 0 stars I would the little big eyebrow dude had an attitude when we were inquiring about pricing rude never looked up when speaking . Thanks
We we're newbies to this place coming from out of town to visit. We sat for almost an hour waiting to get served our hooka while watching the guy walked past an serve everyone else that came in after us. eventually we had to ask for a refund and went somewhere else.
After you get past the cloud of smoke the place is really nice good vibes I enjoyed being there
Very beautiful shop staff seemed good but they do over charge per box by double but you can knock the hustle
Great staff, wide variety and very knowledgeable of cigars and accessories.
Excellent cigar selection and plenty of indoor and outdoor lounge seating. Great pricing too. Momo is the man!
My Love and I were visiting from Columbus, OH. We are cigar enthusiasts so accustomed to the trends, culture and do's and don'ts of the lounges. No frills, no surprises. Just a regular cigar lounge.
Small shop but great selection of cigars . Only flaw no parking.
