I always have a great time at HPC. The only request is that they clean and update some of the vent fans. I was not affected, but several people in my party stated that it was extremely too smoky on one crowded night. For a regular smoker, I'm almost certain it was negligible, but that kind of thing might keep new smokers from returning.

This place is very friendly. The owners don't try and sell you anything you don't need. Ive come here quite a few times for personal items and for gifts and have had a pleasant experience each time. They have a TON of cigars and a ton of cigar accessories. They also have an outdoor private patio for smoking as well as a large indoor smoking area. Well worth the visit.

Great Down to Earth Cigar Lounge. Not fancy but has atmosphere with a great chill vibe. BYOB is a great option, but you need to spend at least $20 to go in the lounge. Also, their hours are too short on the weekend closes at midnight just about the time you starting really feeling the vibe.

Great cigar selection, but the lounge is lacking. Unfinished drywall, poorly sealed windows, and generally feels run-down. If you are looking for a nice place to relax with a fine cigar, this isn't it. It feels more like an old smoking lounge in a bus station, though it has plenty of room to hold maybe 40 people. Although with that many it would be quite smokey in here.

This place is in a nice area and has a broad selection if cigars but this is the only cigar lounge I know of where you have to spend $20 to access the lounge. The lounge isn't even impressive! This is a quick stop joint to get a cigar to puff on the road. Not a great lounge if you are used to lounging in quality.

Have a nice selection of cigars but never open the time they have listed. Its sat 11:40 and they list opening hour at 10:00am. Its like this every week. Management needs to change the time they have listed since they are never open before noon... its really rude especially for patrons who travel a good distance to patronize here. Call before you head over here!

Extremely overpriced. While selection is expansive, it's not overly impressive. Staff not extremely knowledgeable beyond brand and strengths. The minimum $20 purchase rule to access to the lounge area is ridiculous. The addition of the hookahs has made the lounge area, normally extremely crowded, even worse. Very difficult to enjoy with the extreme noise levels. Music blasting from boom boxes creates an environment where yelling is almost mandatory to converse with the person next to you. Lounge area is dumpy. I suggest one spend the time, money, and energy driving to a different shop. I used to easily spend $300-$400 per month in this shop. Now I wouldn't purchase a book of matches and feel comfortable about it.

More so an update but the rating for me has dropped to probably a 3.5 if could actually be truthful. Having been to this cigar lounge on more than a few occasions I ve noticed that lots of the cigars have mold on them my guess would be because the humidity is too high. Also another gripe would be that it s $20 a gentleman to enjoy your cigar in the rear in which no special amenities are included. All in all it is a decent spot to chill and have a cigar if you carefully inspect your cigar and are willing to spend above $20. It is byob and maybe that s their way of making sure they are compensated

Stopped in at 1pm for a lunch smoke..was told that there is a $20 min spent to use the lounge..told him the min spend starts at 4pm..he said it has changed. Left and probably will not return. I smoke 708s and can buy them for $8 at Tobacco Plus, at HP they charge $10 for the same cigar. They really need to get their pricing straight and get consistent with their lounge-use policy.

In the neighborhood on business and wanted to get a little information on my new found interest. The worker really hates his job and boss apparently. I barely got a hello. I was asking what's a good cigar for beginners and the response I got was what do you like? Well "what do women usually get?" They get everything. Ok....do you all rent the space out? "Yes." Ok.......well I guess I'll leave now WITHOUT purchasing anything. He seemed like I knocked on his door asking for money and was bothering him!

Hyde Park Cigars is my absolute favorite Chicago retailer for a premium selection of cigars. The staff have a sommelier s knowledge of all levels and grades of cigars. I m told a redesign of the venue is on the way and I can t wait to see it. I strongly encourage The beginner or experienced cigar connoisseur to pay this venue a visit!! Thank you for the experience Big Six and the #HydeParkCigar staff. Sincerely, -Attorney Te Smith SAGlaw, PC

This spot is a hidden gem for Brothers and Sisters of the Leaf. I've had almost everything they stock so there's no new discoveries for me but what they do carry is solid. The outdoor private patio is fantastic. It's got two flat screen tv's. It was great just lounging with other smokers savoring some great cigars. It's places like this that makes Hyde Park one of the coolest neighborhoods in Chicago.

The attendant did well helping me find good cigars in my price range for a bachelor party. Two issues: First, the attendant did have the quirk of thrusting cigars under my nose when he wanted me to see how good they smelt. He could be a little less aggressive. Second, the attendant always expressed his personal opinion when recommending cigars. It would be nice if he referenced more objective measures, like published reviews of cigars. Telling people how the cigar is priced relative to other cigars with similar reviews would be convincing. If you are not an expert in cigars, and I am not, then when the sales person simply gives you his opinion of how good a cigar is, you never know if he is just getting rid of bad inventory. On the whole I liked it. The new building is good.

Very wide selection of cigars. But, being predominantly a pipe smoker, I was more interested in that sort of thing. Fairly small selection of tins and bulk tobacco, but at least a little bit of everything. I think it was safe to say I knew more about the pipes and tobacco than the fellow working at the time, but he was happy to let me browse and take a closer look at the pipe case. All in all, I'll shop here again.

We we're newbies to this place coming from out of town to visit. We sat for almost an hour waiting to get served our hooka while watching the guy walked past an serve everyone else that came in after us. eventually we had to ask for a refund and went somewhere else.
