Beautiful place, great service but received discrimination... myself and two Maori friends stayed in the owners cottage (second time I have stayed here). It was a lovely stay, but the day before we were due to leave the manager Kerry came into our room and was snooping around. We caught him red faced and he subsequently aggressively demanded payment there and then.. which normally would be covered after our stay. So after paying the bill we decided to leave and it was clear they felt they made a mistake.. The reason I say discrimination is that the Maori chef was sent to support the manager as to be more racially suited... very sad that our stay was so tainted and feel like something deeper was at play

A fabulous experience. My husband and I were celebrating 50 years together.

Not happy. This is what I booked:
"This villa features a kitchenette, lounge area, and en suite bathroom with shower and/or bath. bed." - this is stated on my booking confirmation.
What we got was a very small room tacked on the end of a villa; no kitchenette or lounge area; no table - we had to eat off our knees.
The room had a musty smell.

Worth double what my new man payed for it! Absolutely gorgeous for a romantic weekend away out of Sydney. The food is to die for, and I used to run a restaurant.

We have been to Huka Lodge twice and going back again this year. We have experienced different luxury lodges in Australia and New Zealand, no doubt Huka Lodge is the finest, the property is beautiful and all the guests are treated like royalty. Loved the amazing fine dining experience created by Frog chef and the team. It was really lovely that one of the team member Dennis Hay remembered us and gave us a very warm welcome during our second visit.

It's the only luxury resort that I've ever been to where you can fly fish from the dinner table :) make sure to request the private table by the water

Magical world class venue and food. We had a chalet in the river but our hosts had the 4 bedroom cottage with private pool and spa. The dinner and breakfast were outstanding and the service impeccable.
