I chose Hugs-n-Hearts based off of community reviews and word of mouth throughout town. But I must say, I couldn't be more disappointed. I continuously saw teachers on their cell phones, not paying any attention to the students safety and well being. TV's are constantly being used as a distraction to the children, instead of teachers engaging in activities. Other things I have been told are they claim their teachers have certain degrees but they do NOT. This center prides themselves o on teacher longevity but I witnessed an uncaring atmosphere. Personally, I would not recommend this center to anyone who wishes to experience quality care and education for their children.

You won t find a staff that has more compassion and love for kids than the staff here at Hugs and Hearts. We ve had two of our kids here for two years now and couldn t be happier with the experience our kids have had. The growth they ve made socially and academically is clear and measurable.

Both of my children attended hugs: one for 2.5 years and the other one for 3 years. The purpose of my review it to recommend that when contemplating sending your children 10 hours a day, I would suggest an interview of multiple teachers is a must. My oldest son had very good teachers and an enjoyable experience. My youngest had a very upsetting experience with a specific teacher and the owner that recommended he be placed in a preschool for special needs because of him showing signs of ADHD at age 3! They chose to deliver the ADHD recommendation over the phone. They also never let us know they were cutting his recesses short to give him 1 on 1 tutoring, which was very upsetting to my child and us. After multiple ADHD discussions w/ our pediatrician and child counselor, we realized that the acting out was due to a teacher conflict and classroom environment stress. We found out later that all children were permitted to choose project stations, however a few children were not permitted to choose stations if certain friends were at the same station they wanted to choose- it was a RULE, all year long. The teacher was consistently singling out certain students as having behavioral problems and creating tension in the classroom. Unfortunately the owner, Pam, chose to side with her teacher and not hold her teacher accountable for any of these mis-steps. Pam then recommended our child attend a special needs preschool 3 days a week and Hugs the other days. When I asked how many other students she was recommending this type of special needs program, she said a little over 25% of the pre-k class was being recommended! It seemed too high, so I researched the special needs preschool recommendation process, which by the way, is a recommendation form completed by the child's current preschool, in this case Hugs. I withdrew both children that week. It has been almost 2 years since we removed the children from HUGS and still no sign of ADHD or any learning disability, now at age 5. Our child has continually excelled and become a happier, more confident child. He is reading and writing words at age 5! Taking him out of the hugs program was the most difficult and THE best choice we could have ever made. Never trust a program that is recommending special needs well before professionals would even recommend an evaluation. Only licensed professional (not even licensed teachers) can determined the child is a candidate for a learning disability. Think twice before you choose this program.
