We were looking for a local place to buy some lamb chops to cook at home and found Howard's. This place is a golden slice of homely goodness. The staff is friendly and helpful and their selections are of top quality. Their prepared sides in the back of the store are delicious. Their prices are fair for the quantity and quality of raw and prepared meals and ingredients. When looking for specialty cuts for a special ocation, please come here first. Looking forward to many more visits at Howard's.

I received very kind and professional service. My son brought me here to pick up some needed miscellaneous items after flying in from Columbia SC, and a very long travel day. I will only be here for a week but I will return before I leave. They made me feel at home.

I ve been coming here since a kid and they never disappoint. Every time I go, they always have the freshest salmon, whether sashimi style or their cooked teriyaki (which says in itself how they sell top quality). Not to mention their prepared dishes are amazing.

5 stars all the way!! Great store with all that you need. The were very clean, the shelves were neatly arranged and tagged perfectly. All in all a pleasure to shop here. Recommended!!

shelves are half empty, overpriced...i got a chicken cutlet for 7$ and it tasked sour (expired) ...Gross.... they had jewlery in the same place as mustard and gift wrapping table? Seriously a overpriced bodega in the bronx like someone said lol looks like the owner doesnt care and it shows

Don't listen to these reviews, Howard's is pretty awful. Everything there is highly overpriced and some of the stuff they sell is so old. I bought some vegetables there today and they were disgusting and stale. The only reason I go there is because I live right across the street and it's convenient. But if you have the option to go to some other place like Publix, DON'T go to Howard's! And the staff is also pretty unfriendly.

I met Chris , he was very friendly. They are open until 8 p.m.

They have some good items, (definitely try a piece of the key lime bread pudding), but they lack some essentials, and I always get the feeling, especially from the owner, that if you don't look like you're a middle-aged lower-upper class suburbanite, they are waiting on you to leave. I generally enjoy when staff ignores me when I'm shopping instead of bugging me, it's different when they are looking through you

The place is always needing to be restocked, and the guy that I m assuming is Howard seems to disdain having to interact with customers. I ve been there probably 10 times, maybe a dozen, and I always feel vaguely unwelcome. I feel like because I m a normal guy that comes in jeans and a T-shirt and have a tattoo sleeve on one arm, the staff look down on people that aren t loyal snooty customers. The one time I bought meat there, it was not good quality.

But if you absolutely need some butter or aluminum foil or whatever, it will do.

Some foods are high priced but some are fairly priced and well worth it! Many of the prepared foods are cooked in house and are yummy. Highly recommend you try it for yourself. Their baked goods and salads are great too. Prime meats in butcher shop!

Oh my. What a nice store. So clean and they carry an assortment of items.

Mom mom loves this place. The have home-style cooking. Plus are super friendly and cater to you health needs. Plus, they deliver to my mom's house for free. When she has a lot going on or is sick, we are very thankful for Howard's.

She likes mashed potatoes, soups, sandwiches and spinach pies are her favorite.

Howard's market continues to be the best neighborhood market having wide range of goods and prepared foods.

Today, My wife an I were able to finally locate Antibacterial gel, it wasn't priced so I asked Howard Junior for the price while he was unpacking the box. His response was "I will not sell this to you because you don't shop consistently in my store." He was also price Gauging as well Antibacterial wipes $16.95! Howard was adamant and went to grab the previously purchased cleaning products from me and return my money, it got heated. Do not shop there. Howard and Howard's Market are Thieves! More than usual!

Prices are too high, shelves are empty, products do not have prices...shelves are also dirty. The cake at the bakery is always dry.

The reviews for this place vary drastically and I think I understand why.

Howard s prepared food is really good. There is a lot of deli-style food and the selection is enormous. The bakery, with delicious cakes and pies, is off the charts.

But if you go there expecting to do some groceries, you ll be disappointed. There isn t a lot of selection and the produce isn t always in the best shape.

Service can be a little spotty. Sometimes the deli staff is busy prepping food and doesn t see waiting customers.

Go in for the prepared foods and you won t be let down.

Fabulous deli and prepared foods here, it is a great find especially since we just moved in across the street!!!

Small independent grocer. Basic selection. Shelves didn't seem full, appearing to need to be stocked and organized.

I leave Howard's every time thinking why did I just shop here and pay a dollar to $2 more for less customer service in what essentially is an upscale Bodega. I don't think I've ever seen the cashier smile once. The prepared foods is probably what keeps the doors open. But anything that they didn't prepare they repackaged and marked up. Ive just never been in a store with so many empty shelves. Considering its tucked into the back of the neighborhood thats its saving Grace

I am grateful that Howard's Market has been such a lifesaver during this pandemic. It always feels like home! Mask, sanitizers, paper towels, toilet paper, etc...all we need is a step away. The delicious food, friendly service....and I've noticed new items too! Even Beyond Burgers:))!! And of course Tony's special shrimp burgers are my favorite!

Howards has everything. Major supermarkets are out of things but not Howards, amazingly he has everything.

Loved it, we just stopped in to check it out. My husband is retired Army we appreciated the atmosphere.

Don't shop there if you're not rich, or you will get treated differently.

Pretty average. I'm told that most of their business is from catering which would explain why the retail shelves seem to just hold minimal products.

Howard's is like it always is Excellent. Customer for 20 year's now never disappointed.

The cashier guy so rude I don't know if it because I'm black because I went with my patient that I work for when she came to pay this basted was so nice to her

I'm not sure about the employees, as they've always been pleasant and helpful. I don't need more than that from an employee at a market of which I shop for food. I'm not looking for friends in a market. I am looking for good, fair priced food. THIS IS WHERE I GO TO GET GOOD PREPARED FOOD!!!!! AT A VERY GOOD PRICE!!!!!!
The person who applied for the position (below), but didn't get it, sounds like a disgruntled & retaliative person.
If I keep my eye on the ball & just shop there for the food & the price, then I am bound to be a happy customer.

Maybe Howard is jaded...who cares. I don't need to be his friend or even like him, to recognize that the food in his market is DELICIOUS & Fair priced!!!!!

A lot of hard to find items as well as regular groceries. Very friendly. Was looking for organic kosher wine, but they didn't have any. Still made some nice purchases. It has a nice feel to it as well

I had a great experience at this location today. The staff was impeccable. There was someone in each department eager to help me with a smile. Amazing customer service! It s hard to have an entire store on the same page. I applaud you.

Great seafood. Prepared food good. Good selection fruits ,vegetables, dairy products and bakery. MEN who work behind counter in fresh meat and seafood very helpful and pleasant. Man at check out not pleasant, rude. Dark skinned man at deli ,very friendly .

Nice atmosphere at this place, the friendly staff made the place lively. Their products range covers a wider scope and are neatly arranged, the pricing is also very affordable. Highly recommend.

I go there every day with my friend only because it's next to our house and they never restock once they went 2 months without restocking sodas I know that because we always get Pepsi and 2 months went by and they finally put in some of that the prices are high as hell I mean it cost $8-15 for two people for a drink and snacks like the cashiers are nice for the most part but there is this one rude girl like for example once there was a hugeee line and when it was our turn I accidentally forgot something that was 2 ft away and she sent ur back to the end making us wait 10 min for no reason but the other cashiers are alright

The person who got me my macaroni and the person who rung me up were both very nice I had accidentally gave the person who rung me up 10 cents less that what I owed and she said it was ok very nicely laid out market and clean as well would definitely recommend going to check it out

Been going here for 20 years. It has gone downhill. Difficult to even get service for the bakery area. Shelves are so poorly stocked it reminds of a bodega in the Bronx.

So I m writing this review for the sole purpose of informing guests of what I had encountered the other night when I ran in to purchase a couple things last minute right before they closed.
Now I will say that I have been a long-time customer of Howard s for years I have never had an issue aside from sometimes flies swarming around the prepared food which unfortunately happens in a lot of restaurants when it s sitting out so I m not chastising them for that; however, In lieu of this pandemic that we are facing I felt it my responsibility and somewhat of an urgency to make this known to customers who are shopping there currently that s what I witnessed the other night in terms of sanitation practices was absolutely unacceptable.
First off I grabbed something from the bakery no problem at all the lady had her mask on everything was fine. I then proceeded to take a quick peek over at the deli counter and decided to purchase an item. I literally could not believe what I was witnessing. The man behind the counter not only had his mask down around his neck as he is grabbing my food out of the case breathing all over it, and then decides to put his mask on after he s already packaged up my food. And to add insult to injury another girl who I can only assume is in her early 20s late teens ALSO had her mask around her neck talking on her cell phone constantly walking next to me and past me to the point where I had to literally go down other isles to avoid her. I was so disturbed but I did not want to make a scene so I left my item at the register and walked out the door.
No I understand that this probably happened because it was late at night and it was right before they closed but I don t care these are unprecedented times and every other establishment has strict stringent rules in place and for good reason. I don t care if it s before closing time or whether somebody personally feels that they are not sick it is not their job to determine that it is disrespectful and unacceptable and completely unsanitary and putting tons of people at risk at their complete lack of respect and disregard for other people safety to the point where I felt it was necessary that I write this review. Therefore I would highly recommend if you are purchasing any food from Howards please please make sure that you are cooking it to such a degree that it is not something you are just heating up very quickly, for your own safety. There is absolutely no reason that things like this should be taking place this is a management issue clearly that needs to be addressed and I will address it with the restaurant but I just wanted to let anyone know that may see this To pick and choose very carefully where you choose to purchase your
food, as there are many other options Who are following the strict guidelines in place.
And once again I would like to add that I have never before had a problem or an issue with this place this is simply a sanitation issue it s very close to home and I think it needs to be addressed. So I hope this was helpful to anyone who may have needed to know this.

The selection is a little small but the products are very high quality. The staff is exceptionally friendly and it really has a community feel that you really don't get in other grocery stores.

We recently utilized Howard's for catering. I was pleasantly surprised Howard was answering the phone and took care of me personally. We were out of the "normal" delivery area, however waived the delivery charge. Our order changed several times, and their team was flexible and understanding.

The food was made to order with no issues, delivered on time, and exceeded my expectations. The food was made to order and fresh. Did not appear to be frozen food reheated, which was a refreshing change.

If you are looking for quality food, reasonability priced, and exceptional service, I would recommend Howards!
