Houstonian Hotel Health Club and Spa Review

This was a fantastic place for our event. Facilities were nice and clean, staff was good and food was great.

Didnt enjoy this visit. The hotel is so outdated, including the bar and restaurant. Don't know why so expensive but not worth the money.

Awesome staff. Super location. Great renovations. We feel like royalty every time we stay. The spa is an extra nice perk!

Very historic, lovely quiet hotel, lovely grounds and course, stately feeling in restaurant and bar, quiet a nice gym.

Hotel staff was very professional bathrooms we're super clean love those hand towels. Very clean establishment only reason didn't give 5 because I didn't not actually stay in the rooms was there for a professional event.

Thanks guys for the special treat, did not get to stay long, however on my next stop will get involved.

We stayed at the Houstonian for one night during the week of Thanksgiving. You will notice how well maintained the grounds are during the drive to the hotel through the property. Upon arrival at the entrance to the hotel, you are greeted by the valet and given a choice to self park or have the valet park your vehicle. As...

Excellent service, amenities. Had two nights for meetings there and the staff was excellent as well. It still has an old world charm to it.

We stayed over the weekend and we were very impressed with the hotel staff. Rooms were nice and well-cleaned. Beds are not comfortable; seems mattresses are over due replacement. Too saggy. Staff was friendly . The restaurant and bar are exceptional and the food is good.

Place was nice and clean. Parking was tight.. Other than that nice hotel.

Wedding was so much fun. Bed was comfy! Bar in lobby fantastic.

Great workout facility and pools. Always good service.

The Houstonian Hotel is by far one of Houston's most tucked and preciously hidden gems (that description made it sound as if I were describing testicles..I'm not) With it's oak and wood ladened walls and pillars..not to mention the deer head sticking out of the wall, the Houstonian screams "Texas" in my opinion.

It's a bit older but is still breath taking. The best part is the drive in. As you round the corners and drive through the beautiful green terrain to the hotel is just gorgeous. So gorgeous that to this day I can't tell you what the front of the hotel looks like.

I visited Olivette for HRW 2014 and the food was good. The staff and service were top notch. Was at an event this past week and the power went out. No one freaked, I honestly didn't know the power went out until I went to the restroom and noticed neon green glow sticks everywhere. I just took one and walked back into the party!

The parking garage was pitch black too but we had glow sticks so we were fine. Smart and fast problem solving is what makes a business efficient. They know what they are doing at the Houstonian.

The facility is absolutely enormous. The hotel has almost any amenity that you can imagine and is staffed very well. They have a kids play area, so a, massive gym (about 10k square feet or so) and a full sized basketball court. They have small conference rooms and a grand ballroom that makes the Hustonian great for business or a wedding.

There are a few reasons that keep the Hustonian from getting a 5 star rating:

1) The room decor is very dated. My room looked and smelled like I went through a portal and came out in the 70s

2) The hotel is about 20 minutes from downtown Houston. A decent effort has to be made to get into the city

3) The lobby bar closes around 11pm

4) Bottles of water were difficult to get and not regularly provided in the room

Overall, the Hustonian is a really good hotel. The room quality really affected my rating.

I was at the hotel for a corporate event. Everything was well organized. There were multiple events going on at different halls which made the arrival lobby a bit crowded

I came for a wedding reception. Assume the appetizers and buffet were in house. Lovely grounds, elegant interior. Nice to get a peek inside the world of the elite. Staff were gracious and friendly, not snooty. Hope to visit the spa some day for a special treat.

Stayed after my wedding. Wonderful accomadations, and very friendly staff.

Go there, have a great time, enjoy great company with great drinks, and then cry in the fetal position after you look at your bank account the next morning.

Everyone is super friendly and it is an amazing hotel

It's the place to get away in town. Nestled in the forest, it's quiet and you can lose yourself on the walking trails or relax in the amazing pool. The best part is the bed...best sleep ever.

Eh. Fair. The grounds are beautiful, but the hotel is dated. The service is also slow and lackluster, but don't worry everything (food, drink, etc.) is completely overpriced! The turn down service was a very nice perk, though. Helped make the experience go from poor to fair.

Difficult to get into. There too much walking, especially for elderly people. As much as I paid to stay there, they did want to give me a rollout bed and I thought that was really ridiculous. There was no indoor pool. I rent rooms for my daughtes and myself for their birthday and they wanted to swim, but they had to walk to another section where the pool was outside and it was too cool and dark out for them to get in. I know it's suppose to be an upscale Hotel, but not having a pool inside is ridiculous. That was my first and last visit.

The service I recived at the Trellis Spa was fantastic. The environment is very relaxing and completely relaxed.

I travel to Houston frequently, this is by far the best hotel I've stayed in to date. Tons of charm and every amenity you could imagine.

This place is pretty overrated. Lost our reservation. Wouldn't help. Pretty horrible experience.

Never stayed at the hotel. But my husband and I go every year on Valentine's Day for breakfast. I absolutely love the banana stuffed French toast. We've been there 11 years straight.

We had an event here. It's an ok venue, a little out dated but not bad. Food is ok.

I'm sure the hotel and spa are fine, they're well established but my god the people who work/patronize this place may well be the worst drivers in all of Houston. There is serious construction going on and that only makes it worse, I've seen them make left turns from the right turn lane, no signal, block entire intersections obliviously, and 95% of the people going here can't even bother to use their turn signals, it's a wonder no one has been killed. They need an officer out there, and one who will issue tickets to motorists who are clearly in violation of traffic laws, the level of carelessness and dangerous driving is completely out of hand. I plan to contact HPD and report this intersection as a hazard to other drivers..

Beautiful hotel & grounds - Impeccable service, from management to spa staff to valet to housekeeping - could not even touch a door handle before it was opened.

The room is a room. Nothing special. But, the bathroom was very small. I've stayed on cruise ships with larger bathrooms. The spa, pool and exercise area were wonderful.

Very disappointed in the Houstonian and it's deceptive advertising practices. Online was a published pricing for the "Spaaah Package" which includes a hotel stay and massage and other items for $386. When I called to book this for my wife the concierge stated that this was not the correct pricing. And that this was just for the room. This however is not true. I was quoted a hotel stay over the phone for the requested date at $260. So which is it? $260 or $386? This leads me to believe that a massage package was available, but the Houstonian wouldn't honor it. Even the concierge mentioned that many customers had called book this to find out that pricing was incorrect.

Will not be doing business with the Houstonian and will be reporting this deceptive practice to the FTC.

Patrick was an excellent massage therapist. My mother had a different therapist and also really enjoyed her first professional massage!

Best gym in Houston! Best pools in Houston! Best pool temperatures in Houston year round . Best yoga instructors . They have several brands ( manufacturers) of machines instead of one brand which is uncommon for a fitness club. Tons of free weights. Into cardio? It s like a candy store of machines to jump on. This is myFavorite place to workout on my boxing skills because of their assortment of heavy bags,light bags, speed bags. Really cool Boxing studio in the basement area. The steam rooms are awesome. But no @45deg chilled eucalyptus scented hand towels for after your work out (sad face). There are many other activities that I don t do that s on my list of things . They have really the best indoor tennis and outdoor courts I ve played on and the Pilates studios are just overall amazing. And if your into group spinning this is the place! Wow! Some serious people here! Amazing place for the kiddos with an amazing tubular jungle to crawl around in . Love the squash courts underground but haven t tried the rock climbing wall yet. The staff are amazing! I applaud them for hiring disabled individuals . PS! I have seen the new remodeling plans and I am so excited to see this happening ( Just don t raise the monthly dues) lol.

Very classy hotel which they have managed to situate in the Galleria area in its own forest along the Buffalo Bayou. I was there at a company meeting and dinner.
