The spare ribs are cooked so much that they are hard and not soft and chewy.Never had rice with carrots and peas in it.This should be mentioned in the advertisement.The service and atmosphere was great.I guess I just won't order this from were again.Never have issue from place in Johnstown.Thank you for guiding me to other places.
I tried ordering online through their website but there were no descriptions of the menu items and the website itself was clunky. I ordered sweet and sour pork, steamed white rice, and steamed dumplings. They said they couldn't add fried egg to the rice, and 25% of the pork and all of the vegetables were so tough I couldn't eat them. Everything tasted good and they have large portions but part was inedible. The staff was very nice and I received my order quickly.
House of Chen is one of the best places to get good quality Chinese food for the price and portion. They deliver on Friday and Saturday from 5:00 to 8:30, and at the moment are only doing takeout. They're working to open up for dine in next month which is great. The service there is polite, prompt, and they make you feel like family. I would recommend it to everyone and anyone who is looking for great Chinese food.
The food is good quality making for enjoyable meals when the craving for Chinese food hits. I eat here once a month like clockwork.
Honestly my favorite chinese restaurant. Every time I go the food is so good. I've only gotten take-out but the servings are substantial and the value is great. I love the fried noodle things they put in with the seaseme chicken (not pictured) and they have the best lo mein. Definitely try it if you have the chance
Was one of the best chinese restaurants I've been to. Service was great and the food was amazing. My husband had the pepper chicken and was very happy, and I had the Mongolian Beef (happy face) I look forward to going back to try more of their food.
Our family has been eating here since I was a kid. I was back in town visiting this weekend and was thrilled to see that they were open for takeout. The food was great and it was fun to share a childhood memory with my son. Please continue to support this local institution during a very difficult for all the area restaurants.

So glad house of Chen is now back open for takeout. They cook some of the best food you ll find in Calhoun county. I ve ate Chinese all around an I ve never had any that compares to this. The beef lo mein is absolutely perfect. All of the fried stuff like egg rolls and crab angles are the most perfect golden brown not too hard not too soft. I ve ate here for years an will continue to. Best take out in Calhoun county period. Your gonna love their food.
We've been eating there since the early 80's . Don actually worked there when he was in high school. At one time it was the first Chinese in this area, they have some of the best food. They are the best and very affordable. We get eggs rolls. Crab angles they are wonderful.we love the soup. And we eat chic an broccoli every time but my husband has seamed it all and says its all good. Service is great. Mow its only pick up or deliver because of covid . call your order in an it will be ready when you get there.
Advertising delivery yet they don't deliver and when u call and even ask they are rude and say no and hang up. Got to the restaurant and had to go back to my car and call in the order then wait. Food had no flavor and way too much trouble for what cost almost fifty bucks just for two people. Not worth the trouble I promise
