House of Chai Review

Worst restaurant I have been to so far. After seeing pictures of the meals, I was highly disappointed. My lamb shank was undercooked causing me to fall ill in the following days, in result I had to quarantine and miss time off of work because of this. The mash and gravy that came with this was extremely plain and unseasoned. Very unsanitary - sticky tables and dirty floor, particularly unpleased with the lack of cleanliness because of covid. I could hear staff arguing and the wait time was extremely slow, this created a very unpleasant atmosphere. Will definitely NOT be returning to this restaurant. Waste of money.

Avoid!! Order took over an hour. There was more oil in the eggs than the whole of Saudi, which ruined the entire dish. Horrible taste and rubbery bits of egg.

If you are happy eating RAW EGGS on a Shakshuka then by all means eat at this place. When we complained we were told that this is the Moroccon style of a Shakshuka which is apparently meant to be be very undercooked that the white bit of the egg is not white it is clear.
Horrified and disgusted, a waste of money. Sent the dish back as I don't tend to eat raw eggs and the manager did not even have the courtesy to come and ask or offer any other alternative.

Avoid at all cost's, we went for a friend's birthday thinking she would enjoy it for a birthday breakfast but it was awful! The shakshuka was raw eggs, when we complained we was told this is the Moroccan version of the shakshuka (we didn't ask for a Moroccan version), when we sent the dish back saying we don't eat raw eggs, the manager or any other member of staff did not even have the courtesy to come and ask what the problem was or offer any other alternative, the service was absolutely appalling.
A complete waste of money and time.

One of the best breakfasts that I have had. So good that we went twice during our weekend stay in Manchester. I got the veggie breakfast and my boyfriend got the smashed avocado. Both excellent drinks - the coffee is beautiful and the staff are so friendly. 100% recommend. we asked to move and the staff were so helpful and happy to accommodate!

100s of reviews and this is hands down probably the best one. I am genuinely being neutral here. I haven't written a review in a while but felt the need to write this. The food was cooked to perfection. We all really enjoyed the evening. Can't wait to go again.

We had the desi breakfast, but it has to be by far the worst we've had, just full of oil and a horrible aftertaste, couldn't even finish the parantas. The only reason for the 3 stars is because the French toast was really nice, not quite fereral or moose coffee standard but a good third place.

such slow service, waited 50mins for food and eventually walked out as still no sign and said qould have to wait longer. Staff were lovely but come on this atrocious, they said would be a delay as were quite busy. No word of a lie there was me and my friend, a couple and a family of around 8! Thats not busy!!!

Turned up today after booking a table online on their website and the place was closed!!!
I don't understand why they have a full on open booking system on the website when they don't have provisions for outdoor seating. I rang the place whilst outside and they didn't answer first time round. Second time they answered and said they had no seating and when asked why they have an active booking system they seemed abit blase about it. No apology. Probably won't bother visiting again

Disgusted and disappointed would.only begin to describe how I feel when I think about this restaurant, especially having seen some of the rave reviews with pictures of well presented food. However, this does nothing to temper my feelings in light of my order and dealing with this restaurant.

Virtually everything about my order was wrong or not as advertised, the delivery of the food when it arrived was appalling and then the interactions with the staff.

I ordered a Full English, which was all the description given on their Just Eat page, the Smashed Avocado with Poached Eggs, a Mango Crush and a can of Pepsi. The Full English contained only 2x Eggs, 2x Sausages, 2x Slices of Toast and a Tomato.

Clearly not a Full English and was caped in chilli powder. The Eggs for the Avocado were half raw half hard boiled and not in any way poached. The whites were stiff and over cooked with the centres still opaque and jellified which had covered the rest of the dish.

I got Baked Beans that had Coriander, Lemon slice and Chilli Powder in and a Mojito instead of the Mango Crush, in fact the only drinks and things that came as described was the can of Pepsi.

The delivery driver called me and told me to come outside to the car to collect the food when he arrived but as I had company I couldn't do this and it was a battle to get him to leave it at the door covid an all.

When I called to the manager to complain I got nothing but abuse from the manager with no offer of appeasement and refused to come and collect the order and issue a refund however, after a swift investigation by Just Eat they were found to be at fault and my money refunded in full.

Had the descriptions of their food have had a little detail rather than plain titles then I would have know or deduced what to expect and would have ordered from somewhere else. Sure to say wont be ordering from here again unless theirs major changes and an apology.
