Where is the place that I've ever been to in my life for a show. Tribal seed was playing now you're a legal marijuana state for recreational use I am a marijuana patient and caregiver and you took my weed away from me or try to but that didn't happen I will never go to a show at your f****** place the House of Blues should be the house of sober losers because what's the point of going to a music show when you can't even smoke a bone but you can drink all you want and fight all you want worst place in the world never go there first though I regret everything about that place I wish I never spent a f******dime there
Decent venue directly across the street from Fenway.
Staff were courteous and drinks were surprisingly reasonable for a concert hall.
Can't see the stage from either upper level unless you are against the rails. If you aren't in that front row forget about it! People are sloppy and spilling their drinks or dropping them altogether over the railings to concert goers below. The sound quality is poor at best. Place is dirty feeling cob webs hangings down from the ceilings. Not set up well for concerts at all, better suited to be a dance club.
Great, cozy venue for concerts and professional boxing matches.
We go here often for concerts. Nice venue with a decent beer selection and lots of options for cocktails. That said the lines can be a bit of a pain to get in and the parking can be murder if there is a baseball game so consider taking public transit if you are not a local. Sound quality for bands seems to vary quite a bit. We have gone to some shows and it was good and some shows and...not so much. It is basically a big box so depending on the type of music it can vary a bit. All in all not bad and not too big.
Great music venue I'm a great location! It's easily accessible by public transit, located conveniently near a large variety of restaurants, and even has a few parking garages nearby which, while expensive, are still reasonable for Boston, and are a great option for when you're going to a show that you know will get out too late to take the T. My only real complaint about the place is their annoying "cut the line" policy that allows people who show up right before doors open to get in before the people who've stood outside all day, as long as they order some french fries or something from the restaurant. Luckily, they've proven to be willing to suspend this "promotion" if the headliner requests that they don't do it....so if the act you're seeing values their diehards being in the front row, you might get lucky! All in all, a great place to see a show. Looks great inside and has lots of different options for tickets, if you're not the kind of person who likes GA Floor spots.
Great venue. Best place to see live music in Boston. Great service.
I enjoyed the show here drinks was way 2 much and tasted horrible
Food was okay, stage was small and no seating too many obstuctions
Viewing from the two floors above is a bit difficult. The food and beer is good. The music however is phenomenal. The two bands I ve seen are brilliant and the sound quality is exceptional. Just arrive early if you want to see the stage properly
House of Rules. Basically the Disney land of concert venues. Unless you are taking a child to see their favorite band, there is no reason to ever visit this place.
Security is more stringent than an international airport. I even saw them taking Bic lighters - absolute joke.
Took about 10 mins to order a drink, super pricey (kind of expected) but corn hole was fun!!
Great venue! There is no bad spot. Super intimate. One of the best places to see your favorite artist! Was just there to see Snoop Dogg and Warren G. Have been in the past for other artists! Great time!
Always great artists. Worth it to arrive at doors to get a standing room spot up front.
Great venue for a rock concert, Pixies were on point
Good venue BUT avoid mezzanine. Your view will likely be obstructed.
it's a good place to go to a concert my second time there something going to check out their restaurant and bar to eat &
drink
Excellent place to see big name musician's in a smaller more intimate setting!
Loved everything about our visit. Sat at the bar and enjoyed friendly, prompt service. Atmosphere is great. Will definitely return for a visit whenever I'm back in Boston
Lots of fun, live the new look from the old orphuem
Best venue around. My favorite place to see a show. Intimate and punk rock.
great seats. Parking sucks when there is a baseball game. I don't follow sports, and I'm not from the area.
Good venue, didn't improve on the axis/Avalon that used to occupy the space
Had tickets in the mezzanine for the first time and the experience was dreadful. HOB has great sound on the floor but upstairs is another story. The sightlines are beyond ridiculous - people are crouching down on the floor to stare through a slatted railing to try and see the stage. I am above average height and could not find a spot ANYWHERE in the mezzanine with clear sight of the stage. We left after a short while experiencing the futility of trying to enjoy the fantastic show happening on stage. I will never buy tickets in the mezzanine again and neither should you.
i was barrier and VIP for the show so i didn't have to deal with crowd all the much and security was beyond helpful when problems occurred, leaving the venue was easy. Over all it was an amazing venue in my opinion!
Went to see ghost had floor tickets...had a great time. Good place to see a show. I was apprehensive but I will definitely go there again.
Took a long time to get in, but the facility was great and clean. Even landed some rail space to lean on up near the stage
Nice small venue. Get there early to grab a good spot on the floor!
Artist was amazing, staff were cool. Biggest bummer was two dummies standing in the "no standing area" and no one did anything about it (neither staff who walked by them nor other audience people). It was frustrating as I was pretty incapable of doing anything myself (as throwing my drink cup seemed extreme). They were there the entire show and I was the only person in my immediate area that couldn't move and adjust. Not cool.
Great venue for concerts. They usually host more indie music, but also some bigger acts. I think you can also host private events at House of Blues. Majority of it is standing room (floor tickets or matinee tickets) with some seating and tables on the upper floors. The venue has a great atmosphere.
Great venue. The renovations from a few years ago make so that every seat or standing area gives you a great view of the stage.
Drinks are pricey but the shows are always on point. The venue is clean and safe, and the staff is very aware if anything goes awry.
Security is pretty strict, but it's easy to get a good view of the stage if you're willing to wander a little
The sound is good. The venue is pretty big and most of if is standing only. If you're on the mezzanines be prepared to fight for a view. Bars and bathrooms bars and bathrooms are everywhere. It reminds me of going to a show at a stadium.
Lots of bars and seating, but hard to see from the third balcony. Plenty of bathroom stalls!
One of my favorite concert venues. Mostly general admission so you can get up close to see your favorite bands.
Okay venue for big touring bands. No place to sit, which sucks.
Awesome lineups. The bartender is a super fast in this usually not too much of a line to get a drink the way it's set up with the three bars is perfect I love the standing tickets I think it's cool that you can walk up to the front if you'd like the venue small enough where you can see the artist performing like right up close which is amazing tickets are fairly priced and I think the venue all around is amazing and definitely is highly recommended
It can provide for a more intimate space between performer and audience, but if the mezzanines (particularly 3rd floor) are a bit obnoxious in their design and should be much more discounted, given the contusions one has to twist themselves into if they don't want to show up 3 hours early to claim their space.
Definately experienced rude staff harassing people about every little thing. I got in line went under the belt cause my boyfriend was in the line getting our coats. One of the staff was going off on me saying "No No your not supposed to do that."It was my first time going there enjoyed the performance but some staff were very rude.
attended a Roots concert for the 2nd time and they were incredible! they tore it it for almost 3 hrs. Seating was awesome, sound system was great and everyone just had a great time.
Pricey and watered down booze. But the show was excellent
Fun place to hear live music. Every time I've been there, it's set up with almost no seating; so you stand for most of the concert. (Which is fine by me, but if you're expecting a place to sit you will be disappointed.) It is spacious and spread out over three floors and has a decent sound system.
Obviously an iconic venue for Boston, be aware of the seating you are getting, and how packed the show you are going to will be. Floor is best experience, in my opinion, you can wander in and out of the pit and there's plenty of room on the sides to stand. If you get mezzanine, be aware that it's imperative to get there early to claim a railing spot for the best view, or you can sit way up top in theater seating. Plan accordingly, but this is a great venue for sounds quality and accomodations of every type of show.
Saw Young the Giant there. Great show. The place is amazing. Can't wait to go back.
I'm short and it's hard to see but that's my own problem. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Great small venue, got upper mezzanine tickets and had no issues seeing the stage from the rail, if the show had been sold out I'm not sure that would have been as true if we couldn't be to the rail.
Many good acts here, but don't bother with standing on 2nd floor if you want the live music experience.
Intimate venu. I recommend buying seats on the third floor, as viewing from the first and second can be obstructed. Foundation room can be added to your purchase, its the vip area, but this does not let you access the vip viewing area... which was the only reason i bought it. So I was disappointed. But it does give u access to a private bar, bathroom, and restaurant on the second floor.
We couldn't see the show from upstairs. Show up early if you don't have floor tickets
Great venue. Very well organized and efficient. It was clear that the show we went to (Gryffin) was not their first rodeo. We had balcony tickets and it was a great way to enjoy the show without the hassle of being on the floor. Drinks were a little expensive ($9 for a tall boy), but that is to be expected at a show! Will definitely be looking into other shows coming to the venue.
If I could give this venue 0 stars, I would. We went to HOB to see Joe Russo's Almost Dead. The first night, our friends arrived 20 min after doors opened, waited for 2 hours to get in, missed half of the show. The second night, the staff basically cavity searched everyone, and were incredibly rude. To top it off, in the middle of the show, my friend and I used the bathroom and a staff member came in and watched us when we came out of the stalls, and pulled aside my (25 year old) friend - accused her of drinking (there's 6 bars inside this venue) and being on drugs because she "bumped into the wall when she walked out"...and then took her wristband and put X's on her hands so she couldn't drink anymore. She was pretty damn sober when this happened, so she was VERY humiliated. That staff member then followed us around for the rest of the night. We had been looking forward to these events for MONTHS. Needless to say, we will never be back. What a joke of a venue.
Definitely don't get tickets for standing room in the mezzanine. Not the best sound up there, nor is there a good view.
Security is very attentive, thanks for saving me from some crazy drunk guy
I like this venue because you can see from any angle and affordable.
Had an awesome time watching the Roots and the DJ they had in the VIP lounge was great too
Staff was, for the most, part nice enough but terribly unorganized and gave poor information. After the show was hectic with wrong or poor information from the staff and little to no signs pointing to band merch and horrible directions where to line up for it. We were redirected three times where the line was, losing our spot each time until the line was too long to stand in before the subway would stop running. Venue is very hard to see the stage with a full house on top of it.
Super cool venue, slightly annoying there's no longer a smoking section outside.
