Very friendly to deal with and our Account Manager James Richardson is always on hand to help. Their rental insurance policy for Landlords is also very good. A nice professional company that offer a range of good services.

Great company to deal with for referencing. They were extremely helpful throughout the process and also very polite and friendly. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they worked so quickly to ensure a smooth process. Thankyou so much HomeLet!!
BEWARE of Homelet. My son, just finishing his PhD, asked me to be guarantor for him for a short term let, and in order to do so the landlord asked Homelet to provide a reference concerning my finances. Homelet wanted all my personal details including online bank statements. They pried into all my business and I felt financially violated. My bank warned me not send my statements as they contain financially sensitive transactions but Homelet insisted that I do so. To hurry things up, they even asked me to send them by email - which is clearly not secure. After I had received my reference, I asked Homelet to remove all my documents from their database, but they refused saying that they will keep them for six years! They did not inform me that they were going to do so until after I had sent what they wanted. Not only do I not trust them, but I would warn everyone not to touch this company with a barge pole. Profit is their bottom line and they don't seem to have the slightest interest in the welfare of people. I complained about their holding my data, but surprise surprise, they refused to remove it. They pressured me. They wanted information that my bank warned me not to send and they seem to be very careless about the security of my financial data. Dr P. C.
I am a landlord and I bought rental protection plan through the estate agent. We are nearly end of August and I'm still waiting for March rent cover. They were very happy to send bailiff to tenent to collecting Goods straightaway. Very bad organisation and they won't answer any question. I would not recommend to any landlord. Update on September. As I emailed homelet as they requested more than two weeks ago and no respond or any action. It shows how bad the service is .
Probably the worst online set of forms I have ever had to fill in. It has taken me upwards of five or six attempts to actually submit the paperwork. It would simply not save my annual wage, or my referees details. Everytime I reached the submission page, the details of my referee would somehow change into the generic employers name and email. Inefficient and very frustrating.
I work for Bairstoweves in Chafford and it s been a absolutely dealing with this guys. Very helpful throughout the referencing process and update us on a regular basis!
We have only had a positive experience with the team at Homelet. The system is easy to use and is updated by their staff (unlike many other companies we have used in the past). They are easy to get hold of and generally polite and quick to act. Better than most reference companies.
Recently used homelet as a tenent. Our agents used them.. they seem to have a scheming side business of selling you contents insurance.. obviously knowing you are moving into a new place.
They make out this is an essential requirement and that they should be the provider. Then hound and hound and hound.
They need to decide what line of work they are in and learn to buzz off
As a referral agent for Homelet we were advised we would continue to receive commissions for renewals as long as we paid our subscription, however when we found an better product for our clients and stopped selling new Homelet policies they kicked us off the scheme despite paying our subscription and lost our pipeline of renewals we had built up over the years.
Tenancy referencing check was fine, but company now calls me and my partner daily to try to sell us their insurance. Despite neither of us giving them consent to use our information in this way, nor giving them any indication that we were interested in their insurance. I'm pretty sure they are breaching GDPR.
Excellent service, I wasn't sure how the process worked with my employer so I rang up and recieved an incredibly polite reposnse and extremely quick response to my queries. They made the reference process far easier than I expected.
Really unpleasant experience. They spam my text and email inbox with advertising. I got a call and I felt pressured to buy their insurance for our new place, while being mislead by the sales person in the phone. I don't think it's right or fair for the company who is doing the referencing for us to be forcing so much unwanted garbage down our throats during a stressful time.
I am writing to complain about the abysmal service that I and my co-tenants have experienced using this service as it has caused us nothing but grief and stress on every occasion. Particularly on the day we were meant to pick up the keys for our new place but were told one of our guarantors got rejected when the form was completed over two weeks ago. This was 2 hours before we were meant to pick up the keys. As the disorganisation and intrusive behaviour of the service has made our guarantor feel uncomfortable in a manner that is reprehensible.Additionally, the service is extremely slow to get back to us. Furthermore, the service is extremely slow at giving us our any additional information that is required and as result of this we cannot get access to the the property that we are renting and have already paid for 2 weeks without access. Coupled with the website UI that has crashed on many occasions when the information is uploaded. Going forward I will not recommend this service to anyone as what awaits is a deplorable service with dread at every turn.
took advantage of me being a naive student whom hadn't rented a house before and called me up out of the blue asking me about insurance. I explained that I wasn't with my 4 other house mates and couldn't provide the correct information for what they needed, so they ensured me that they were just providing a quote. A while after the call I checked my bank account and an amount of money I hadn't seen before was taken out of my account by this company. I hadn't received my quote. after a lot of digging I found the email in my junk and I never confirmed that I would willingly pay for that insurance. when they asked for my bank details over the phone I said I didn't have them and they told me not to worry they where already on the system from me providing my information to the company to be able to rent my house. Once I complained, they denied everything, wouldn't give me a copy of the call that I had and refused to pay me back for the month that I didn't know that I was insured for or what was covered. I am sure they are taking advantage of lots of people in this way and I plan on trying to take further action.
We have been using HomeLet for a while now and the service is great! The team there are lovely and always willing to help with any questions I have however difficult they may be. As soon as a reference is added they get to work straight away making the process fast and easy for tenants to move into a property unlike the other company's we had used before. HomeLet are highly recommended by us at Leonard Leese
I am a tenant and I've been a customer with them for merely a year, but I've had great customer service both through phone and email. I still remember the first time I called them to ask about the policies and the guy on the other side of the line been nothing but helpful and delightful to talk to! I wish I can remember his name for credit.
Although I think they should work on their international service via phone, they still helped me cancel my policy via email when I couldn't reach them. Great experience.
We have been using HomeLet for a few years now and the service has always been great. We have used a couple of other referencing agencies before, and none of them touch the service we receive from HomeLet. The team are always happy to help and always do their best to answer all out queries from Flick & Son.
In cahoots with estate agents to get renters to buy insurance with them after completing reference checks. Have pestered me almost every day with nuisance phone calls trying to get me to buy their insurance (even after I've told them I don't want it and to stop contacting me) which is far higher than others providers on the market. Would recommend avoiding.
I have experienced the worst business to customer experience with Homelet. After numerous letters, emails, and hours on the phone, my complaint has not been resolved. Furthermore, I have yet to receive an apology from anyone for their mistakes. I do not recommend Homelet for either tenant or landlord.
Their website link got error So I sent email of my information to them as asked. They sent me a email and sms message said referencing began. Two days no results, I called them and you guess what: they did not even check the email, and only waiting information not even try to ask me again.
Excellent customer service, easy web-portal for uploading our Tenants references and a great team who manage our portfolio. Would highly recommend this company to any Agent who is looking for an efficient company to provide excellent and in-depth references for their Landlords and Clients!
Our letting agency went through homelet for our referenceing, me and my partner have now been persistently contacted about insurance, even before our application was completed. Two calls a day to both our phones, texts and emails, we did not sign up for marketing, it is an annoyance and unfair as it wasn't our option to go through homelet in the first place. Would not recommend
We use Homelet for our tenant referencing and find them very easy to use and quick to provide us with the information required. Wilkie May & Tuckwood Lettings, Taunton
In the process of being check through this company now and its been over a week already, everytime you've finished they ask for more. I've provided payslips and bank statements, passports, and reference in the forum of personal phone calls and emails from the owners of my company and hr for my other job. Then they ask for contracts, then headers for the letters.... Then another thing...
DON NOT USE THEM. I've got a criminal background check to work with kids that required less time and effort then this company, even their customer service was terrible.
Very annoying...called me multiple times, emails, texts trying to sell me insurance. I appreciate you're following up on leads but this is bordering on harassment. It's also costing me to opt out of a text service that I never opted into
Not sure what services Homelet provides, other than aggressively trying to sell 'tenant liability insurance' which their letting agent partners now include as a requirement in letting contracts. It is a conflict of interest to require tenants to get insurance, and then to immediately offer to sell it, at a cost 2x higher than can be found by a simple Google search.
Homelet was supposed to collect my references. This meant they tried calling my referee once, then started to bombard me with emails instead, asking for me to send them the references. I could have sent the references directly to my letting agent, without Homelet involved.
After my application went through, I started getting junk mail advertising removal services. Homelet was the only agency that knew I was moving, I presume they sold my information.
Our rent application fees, with the very same agent and very same housing development, got 25% higher compared to 2 years ago, most likely, to pay for Homelet 'services. The letting agent never notified me Homelet was involved, before starting the process.
As a private landlord I have used HomeLet for both referencing and insurance. The referencing process was simple and the results detailed and provided me with peace of mind.
I have also purchased my Landlords insurance from them, as they offered a great level of cover.
The referencing process was fine, no fault with that. Now they have my number they will not stop harassing me with calls trying to sell me tenancy insurance!
Consistently bad. They ask for a huge amount of information in the forms, with no flexibility -- not everyone is able to provide two phone numbers and emails for their present and future jobs. Then the uploading of new files after the form was submitted didn't work on their site, so my agent had to do it instead. Still, the referencing takes very long to complete, even after providing supplemental information multiple times.
Once the referencing finally finishes, they send spam emails, messages and make calls trying to sell insurance. This is quite ironic, since the chances of me buying anything from this company after the experiences I've had, are zero.
We always have good service using HomeLet, they are fast acting always willing to help, I am new and they even answer and explain my basic phone calls no matter what it is, I am never on hold for long but whenever I am the music is the best. Highly recommended.
Waaaay too harassing. Countless missed calls, countless voicemails trying to sell me insurance products despite saying I don t want this contact (I already have insurance but thanks). Please...stop. I get that estate agents use you for credit checks etc but hounding their clients is not good.
I had to find somewhere quick to move in to and was so confused with everything I had to do. I recieved a call from Elle James from the gas and utilities team. Not only was she so lovely and friendly, she explained everything to me with patience (even though I was a very difficult customer) She stayed on hold whilst I found everything and offered great support and reassurance. She helped me though the whole process and supported me through everything! She was amazing!!
Constant phone calls from this company despite me informing the letting agency that my number was not to be used for ANYTHING. Please stop harassing me
Complete and utter joke this place is. I sent them information about working self employed and accountants details they verified then because I told them I was having a job start perm in such and such time they wanted confirmation. They received verbal but needed it in writing after sending a contract in they didn t even know how to interpret it and came back saying something so ridiculous the whole table at dinner had a laugh. Why on earth does anyone use them for referencing I m baffled there s no care there just them saying we sent an email when you ring them
The staff are always happy to help, very friendly and keen to provide us with general updates on the tenant referencing side of things, Home Let are definitely one of the better referencing companies to deal with. From our happy team at Holdens.
Stvgirst I thought this is a good professional set-up organisation. The application form seemed ok. The are polite and trying...
However the communication is terrible.
Then I called up and they asked for various documents which I provided. They keep going back and forth. They want to see payslip, bank statements, letterhead as a prooof I work for them, then a contract of employment, then They want to confirm with my employee TWICE if the information is correct. What a joke. It's as if I made the whole thing up!
They Work as a terrible team. They don't have one person to deal with each client. So communication is everywhere.
I have had to pay for a hotel, and stay at a friend's house duebto the delay. In future, if I have to rent ibdont be using a landlord that uses homelet.
My future lettings agent sent my referencing application to HomeLet who then started sending me all kinds of marketing information that I didn't opt into and that was seemingly impossible to opt out of.
We have just changed our reference provider to Homelet. Homelet provided fantastic training so that users could navigate around their page easily and effectively. The website is easy to navigate around and the customer service is fantastic. Updates are given regularly on the references that are being undertaken and if something needs to be amended, the team are quick an efficient in dealing with it. Fantastic experience from day one.
Very happy with the exceptional customer services from Sam Taylor our account manager. Also our previous account Manager Maria Lloyd was excellent too. Thanks for all your support and great service.
As a letting agent, I have used Homelet for over 15 years in total with over 2 years with them as a business owner myself. Earlier this year, they put our Rent Recovery Plus prices up substantially, without prior warning. When I asked to discuss this with my account manager, he was 'unavailable' and to this date has never rung me back! We are a small business although our volume is steadily growing and perhaps they've got too big and only deal now with 'big fish', but they dealt with this matter appallingly. I now use Blinc Referencing, who are great and I highly recommend them!
Sometimes things can go really really well... and other times the referencing team can be a total waste of time! Wont accept a consent form that is a duplicate word for word of their own - just because its not up-selling their products - another delay in referencing!!!!
AVOID. I took out Rent Recovery Plus last August with Homelet as advised by Haart, my letting Agents. The tenants in my property didn t pay 3 months (now 5 months) and neither have Homelet reimbursed me. Homelet won t speak to me direct (hiding behind Data Protection of course) but Haart s made a claim in December on my behalf. In January, Homelet were very busy (though not with my claim apparently) and last week came out with another classic - there was a computer glitch in their payments department. Letting agents should not use this company who should be investigated by the Insurance Ombudsman.
Sales representatives from HomeLet called 3 times, and emailed once attempting to sell me insurance after I provided my personal information and contact details only for the purpose of a tenancy reference check.
On one occasion, a sales representative left a message stating only that: "I am [name] from HomeLet, the company which processed your tenancy reference. Could you please call me back on...".
This is misleading, as any reasonable person would assume that the call was regarding the reference, not that the call was a sales call.
You may wish to seek advice in respect of your company's compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation. Specifically, Article 5(1)(a)-(b) which provides that "personal data shall be processed...in a transparent manner in relation to individuals...for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner that is incompatible with those purposes."
As there appears to be a number of other people commenting that their personal information has been appropriated for purposes other than for which it was procured, I anticipate referring the matter to the Information Commissioner's Office.
I have contact this company in the past to get a quote and after having read Google reviews I decided to not proceed and since then, I am getting bombarded with SPAM e-mails and Text Messages. Avoid this organisation as much as you can - do not make the mistake of providing them with any contact information otherwise be prepared for harrasment sales calls, texts and spam
Spoke to Janek who set up my policy, was really professional, really clear, answered all of my questions and got my cover in place quickly and efficiently. Happy with the price, cover and service received, thanks!
Very poor service with inconsistent requirements for referencing which were changed mid-process. We provided the documents they said were required to pass and then they changed their minds and refused to pass us, leaving us potentially homeless. Would NOT recommend!!
Very disappointed in this company, unfortunately as with many faceless companies, they really don't care about people's individual circumstances. The whole process of referencing is invasive enough. They asked to see evidence of savings, More
Made a claim with Nathan the other day. I was expecting to have to jump through hoops and argue the toss but it was super quick and painless (think it took about 10 minutes in total). Highly recommend these guys.
Had a terrible interview with them about two years ago, where the floor manager left me in tears. She spoke down to me as if I was not only incompetent, but her ultimate inferior. She asked irrelvant questions and left me doubting my abilities after telling me I was "less intelligent than other potential candidates" despite the fact I was 17 and had 12 GCSE's along with experience, two years on I am at university and excelling thoroughly. I have also excelled in roles far beyond her role since then. I really truly believe the company needs to investigate the competencies of those in middle management and the bullying natures they exude. I also found out that a friend of the family who secured a role there was outed during her maternity leave and forced out due to bullying from the same individual. Not only that, but I was informed from various individuals in the area (post interview), that they are manipulative and lie in order to secure a sale. I would advise anyone to be cautious, wether you are a customer or a potential employee as they are highly unprofessional and will lie in order to "achieve".
Literally their entire online referencing service is down, meaning none of the referees myself or housemates have provided can respond. Had to be asked twice to even start my referee process. Clearly as useless and money grabbing as all of these companies are.
Have used Homelet for years, via different agencies and Ive always found them to be exccellent. However recently Ive come across an Account Manager, Cameron Still, that I absolutley adore. He thinks very much like I do, very black & white, no jargon, straight forward opportunities available for us. Explains everything, a total joy to work with. Thank you Cameron x
We use Homelet for our tenant referencing service and they are efficient and also extremely helpful. Whenever there are complications we are able to call them straight away and they sort out our issues immediately. Referencing made simple - could not recommend them enough!
Homelet have been great at giving our Landlord's peace of mind that the tenants we are putting into their property have been referenced professionally, quickly and reliably. Thanks Homelet from us all at ELPM.
If I could give negative review i would, absolutely useless insurance, try and catch you out by what you say so be careful, if not find another insurance company.. avoid this old school insurance attitude!!!! most of these reviews are fake, i mean just read them. avoid guys, avoid.
Stop hounding people via text&email after the home referencing process is complete. Add an 'unsubscribe' button to your emails so people can opt out of them.
Not a positive experience so far. My letting has been held up for over a month now because of all the rubbish with these. I'm currently renting, haven't missed a payment but because of a ccj that was paid off im having to get a guarantor who is now trying to jump through the same hoops as I had to. Her employer is letting her down and cant complete so I now cant rent. My extensive references, work and offer to pay two months in advance isn't enough. ive been passed from letting agent to homelet then back to letting agent. I'm residing to stay where I am and save all the hassil.
Two of my pedal bikes were recently stolen. After reporting them to the police and making local community groups aware I then contacted Homelet to make a claim.
The person I spoke to then let slip in the phone call that actually it's more cost effective for them to avoid upgrading customers. So that explains why they've never highlighted it before. So the only way people discover this is when they go to make a claim and hit the same brick wall.
Easy to use and usually very quick response. My only criticism is when our landlord wants a guarantor but Homelet feel it's not needed so mark them as unacceptable and we have to pay to get this altered. Letsand Property Management, Grimsby
We have recently re-joined Homelet for their services and our experience is very good to date, we would not hesitate recommending them, they are a very professional, efffecient and friendly team.
Extremely Unprofessional I've been a landlord for over 20 years experience and never seen such an unprofessional outfit operating as a tenants' reference checking company. They sent me six emails and five text messages within an hour and then called me to discuss the details of my tenants. I told them in no uncertain terms that I do not discuss my tenants details over the phone with anyone. It is simply wrong. They just want to make a quick buck no matter how and insist on an immediate response as if we have nothing else to do.
