I had the vegetarian burger with cheddar cheese and the chopped salad along with a $2 margarita. The food was good and my server was nice.

Live bands are pretty good for the most part. Nice crowd depending on which nights you go. They have a good vegan menu which is also nice.

Cute enviornment loved the name...ordered tacos they were sooo spicy had to send them back...ordered a "dont drink this" which was really cute in design but also fell short in taste

I arrived around midnight. We we seated shortly and met with friendly wait staff. All of their vegan options are great! Hummus platter is a bit underwhelming however if you go here to drink I'm shure it will satisfy late night. Very accommodating for an under age guest. Somewhat loud granted it is one of a few places with good food and drinks that is open late. Their vegan aoli yeas!! And the pot o fries is not a side dish.

A great place to go on any day of the week. There is always a relaxed atmosphere. Great music, art, and reasonable drink prices.

Really nice lunch today. Spring salad grilled chicken falafel. My honey had an omelet and we had the cauliflower wings.

Homegrown is one of my favorite places to eat in Newark! The Asian wrap and the dirty burger are great. They have a pretty decent bet selection, too. The service here had always been good, if a bit slow.

I used to live in Newark and came here often. Had to have lunch there while I was in the area again. Good food, lots of vegan options, fun atmosphere

Great beer selection and super friendly staff and bartender. They also validate parking if you happen to park in one of the lots.

The food quality has gone down a bit recently, but it's great to have vegetarian and vegan options that are marked and a menu that is always changing

This is our go to restaurant... Love the seasonal specials, fresh and always delicious!

The food, service, and safety measures are all top notch and we can't wait to go back.

Keep in mind it's been a couple of years since I entered HGC so things may have changed.

Upon arriving my partner and I were promptly seated and quickly waited on. Things went sour from here.

I am a vegetarian AND have Crohn's disease and colon cancer. Yeah sucks for me haha. But it does mean I have to ask extensive questions about food preparation, separation of meat cooking and veggie products and also all ingredients used. I felt an all natural lace like HGC could accommodate my extreme sadly ridiculous dietary restrictions.

Upon asking the server a few rudimentary questions she suggested, politely, that what customers are told regarding such matters and what is done are two different things.

Food prepared for vegetarians for example would be cooked in the same oil and pan as meat. Some things declared gluten free by a server may not be and I was congenially warned to stick with hummus. Which I did.

Everything was excellent, service quick and nice atmosphere.

I realised the server may have made an error . But her training is the responsibility of the management, no?

Upon leaving my partner went back in and spoke to an owner or manager who was seemingly horrified and asked which server it was. My spo use declined to throw her under the bus and we left.

I can't risk my health with inconsistencies such as we experienced . if you have dietary issues then ask lots of questions. Twice.

Homegrown Cafe is nothing like what the name suggests. The food is not fresh. I ordered a falafel wrap that was served cold. It smelled awful in there. Overall the experience was not good. On the upside we had a very nice server. He was friendly and pleasant and timely.

Now if you want a laid back experience this is the place to go... some of the most chill people and music in newark... Hughes selection of drinks and great customer service... I highly recommend this place!

The food is for tree huggggggers and they don't even have mustard.

Large, open dining room and bar area. The music is background, not competition. The food is excellent - fresh ingredients simply but creatively prepared. The staff is professional and knowledgeable. Interesting art on the walls.

A friend and I went for a late lunch and arrived in time for the happy hour menu which was inexpensive and the items we chose, crab nachos, fried pickles, and I can't remember the third item, were very generous portions.

It twas okay. They're vegetarian food is way better than the non vegetarian food

Good service and a nice patio. But the falafel was mushy and bland, the chicken tenders over-battered, and the tofu in the Thai wrap was extra bland.

Great for eating in, not for take out. Got overnight oats take out and got 1/2 cup not even filled up all of the way. When you order it at home grown, they give you a mason jar filled. The food is good but was really disappointed.

My default place when someone asks where we should eat/drink/study. The food is so good and they have veg/vegan options that are thoughtfully made and packed with flavor. Endless mimosa brunch option on the weekends, great weekday deals, friendly staff. They have live music occasionally and a rotating beer selection. Go here. Eat. Tip them. Enjoy.

Come here often for brunch and have never been disappointed. Food is amazing, try the bloody Mary it's to die for!

Know they won burger battle previous years. Ordered 2 and kids menu. Angus was good. Cold bread, cold bacon, weirdo lemon dressing. Kids menu - peas fried in some pork fat. Waited 30 minutes for food.
Now I wait for 20 minutes for bill

This place was recommended to me from a great customer. I'm sure places have their good days and their bad days, well this was one of them (bad). Waffles were tasteless I've have better at motel 6. I ordered the huevos rancheros had to send it back, the eggs were supposed to be over easy, well they were over not done. Staff was very accommodating no problems there. Food tasted very processed and tasteless. Prices are a bit to high for the grade food your getting and the amount your given. 15 bucks for 3 eggs scrambled with some bean paste avacado from a bag, and a few taters. I've eaten at much better places for under 40 bucks for breakfast. I know the reviews on here are great and I had high expectations for this place, guess they were to high, coming from the Philadelphia area.

Still one of my favorite spot in town to enjoy some live music in the evening. Suggestions would be Thursday's half price nachos, and Tuesdays hotdog and $1 mystery beer.

The fresh food here is great at prices that are good too. The staff is great too.

This place is absolutely wonder! The food, the service, the atmosphere - every area is excellent and worth a visit. We did the unlimited mimosas since it was brunch on a Saturday and they were so careful due to the pandemic; they brought the champagne in a glass and the choice of juice in a plastic cup to refill as we saw fit. Always a pleasure!

Good locally sourced food in a casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. Stop by on Sunday and enjoy the Mimosa bar for an awesome brunch.

Fantastic place to stop by. If you're in town I highly recommend it. Lack of extra star was due to oddly shaped bar and lack of cocktail tables (high tops)

Ate Vegan dishes that were great!!! Highly recommend. This was my first visit and I was not disappointed.

Cauliflower wings, Korean salad, Corned beef, and Dark chocolate budino were excellent. Awesome service, we loved Dylan!! He was so friendly and kind! Can t wait to come back

I love HomeGrown and I frequent here about 3 times per month. The prices are a little extravagant for the laid back atmosphere. Sunday Brunch is awesome and Endless mimosas are customizable which makes up for the price! They have awesome vegetarian and vegan options, more than your average restaurant. Also the live music and $2 Margs on Thursdays is the perfect pair!

Best vegan, vegetarian, & organic food ever!! Been going here for years. They are always changing up their menu & wall artwork. Live music in the late night hours. Good music. They are such a unique & artsy place. Definitely a hidden gem. Staff is usually really nice too.

The establishment has worked very hard to turn their image around after a few years of really slumping in terms of service and quality of food. I didn't eat there for a few years because of this but the sole owner reached out (after buying out the other partner who seemed to be the bulk of the problems) and invited me back. The food is MUCH better and the service is improving for sure. Bigger groups still present a challenge for the wait staff it seems but a couple people sitting have been great experiences. So glad to be coming back and extremely happy that the owner has put such an effort into restoring the true beauty this establishment once held and will hold again!

The salad was so good, I just don t like the eggs in it.

Lots of space. Interesting modern decor. Friendly staff. Music that makes you wonder what the name is. Top tier food options. Interesting cocktails. Enough variety to find what you want. Great location on main Street. Easily accessible.

The Crabby Fries are THEE BEST I've ever had!! The salads are great too. Its a fun atmosphere and I will definitely be going back. All the staff are welcoming and happy.

It's the place mixed relationships can eat. Vegan and omnivore alike. It's marketed as healthy blah blah blah. But it's good. Prices are friendly. Sometimes the musicians are not annoying.

Favorite restaurant maybe of all time. Go hear at least twice a month for food or drinks and music.

Addicted to the cauliflower wings! Very nice staff and most other menu items sated our palates & bellies. I do miss the more traditional Bahn mi sandwiches they offered over the summer, though.

Busy Saturday afternoon. 20 minute wait at bar well worth it. Be sure to try Jason's bloody Mary and or Jason's elixer. Wife and I split the chili hash off brunch menu. Delicious!
