Our History
The history of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church dates back to 1958 when Bishop Paul Tanner established it as a mission church under the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. The first Mass was celebrated on December 7th at the Eglin Air Force Base Chapel by Father John J. O'Connor.
In 1960, construction began on our current church building which was completed in 1961. Since then, our church has undergone several renovations and expansions including the addition of a new parish hall in 2005.
Today, Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church serves over 1,000 families from Niceville and surrounding areas including Valparaiso and Destin.
Our Mission
As Catholics, our mission is rooted in the Gospel message which calls us to love God with all our heart and soul and love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). At Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, we strive to live out this mission by:
- Celebrating Mass: The Eucharist is at the center of our faith as Catholics. We offer daily Masses as well as weekend Masses for those who cannot attend during weekdays.
- Providing Sacraments: We offer all seven sacraments including Baptism, Confirmation,
Eucharist (Communion), Penance (Confession), Anointing
of
the Sick,
Holy Orders,
and Matrimony.
- Educating Our Youth: We have an active religious education program for children from pre-K through high school where they can learn about their faith while having fun with their peers.
- Serving Our Community: We believe that serving others is an essential part
of living out
our faith.
We have several ministries dedicated to helping those in need such as St Vincent de Paul Society which provides food assistance; Respect Life Ministry which advocates for life issues; Knights Of Columbus who support various charitable causes; Women's Guild who organize fundraising events; Youth Group who participate in service projects locally & abroad etc.

Daily Mass - Monday through Friday at 8 am
Saturday Vigil - Saturday at 4 pm
Sunday Morning - Sunday at 7 am &10 am
Sunday Evening - Sunday at 5 pm
We also provide Confession times every Saturday from3pmto3:45pmorbyappointmentwithoneofourpriests.WeofferAdorationoftheBlessedSacramentonTuesdaysfrom9amto6pm,andwehaveaRosaryGroupthatmeetsonWednesdaysat6pm.Allarewelcome!
Our Facilities
Holy name Of jesus catholic church has beautiful facilities available for use by members or non-members alike:
Church Building – Our main sanctuary seats up-to around five hundred people comfortably with plenty space left over if needed! It features stained glass windows depicting scenes from scripture along with statues representing various saints throughout history.
Parish Hall – This large room can accommodate up-to around two hundred people comfortably making it perfect place host receptions after weddings or other special events!
Classrooms – For religious education classes held during week days there are classrooms available equipped with everything needed teach children about their faith!
Outdoor Space – There’s plenty outdoor space available too! With ample parking lot space along side beautiful landscaping surrounding entire property!
