Hollywood Casino @ Charles Town Races Review

Hollywood Casino is so smoky it is difficult to breathe and the smell of smoke overwhelms the entire place even in non smoking areas. (And we use to smoke and it normally doesnt bother us too much.) We will not return to this casino for that reason.

Great casino to just have some fun on the slots and waste a few bucks. With the exception of the buffet, food is pretty cheap and decent. For those that are complaining about smoking, it's a CASINO! What do you expect? If ya don't like it, play online poker.

LOTS of slots, great restaurants, hotels that provide shuttle service, bands on the weekends....Horse races..Good prices

Lots of changes recently, took out some of my favorite slots. Table games get pretty crowded and they are hesitant to open more. Slot machines can use a good cleaning. Have been unable to use comp rooms due to, according to the reservation line, a lot of government workers taking up rooms.

We were there for Jefferson county animal welfare the Hollywood casino put a very nice venue up, and food for the evening. It was a cash bar at high end club price,4.75 for a domestic beer. All and all a good time for all.

What can I say? We won. Any casino gets 5 stars if we win. But truly this is a nice place. Free drinks, thousands of slots and lots of table games. Sports betting and horse racing, too. Why go to Vegas ia AC when Charlestown is right around the corner?

I say enjoy going to the casino. Charles town is close to home. And if you go there for the crab leg dinner? He won't be disappointed. It's a fun night out.

Love this place, for dancing. Alcohol at the bar is way overpriced for what u get. They don't know how to make many types of shots. They don't have fireball or rum chata. Boo!

Not a good place for people who can't be in cigarette smoking environment.

First time ever at this casino. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. I was kinda clueless about certain things because I don't go to casinos. I like that they offer non-smoking areas. I was unlucky my first time, but I had a great time.

The food sucked and your machines are too tight too win anything

Customer Service and competency rating would be -1, if available.Over a year ago I had serious issues with my Marquee Rewards card. I was not getting any promotional info nor weekly free slot play, which everyone else in my group was getting. I play more $'s than the others AND am there more than most. I am experiencing the same issues, once again. The "cage " staff are of little/no help. It took 6 monthhs and several people from corporate to resolve the issue last time. And here we go again!. The people responsible at the casino deflect it as a "corporate" problem that they gave no control of. The cage manager, after being told that I have been dropped again from the system informed me that I just was issued $50 of slot play and it was used by me as well. I advised I have not received a mailer nor free slot play from a promotion to return program in well over 6 months. They can't explain why others in our group are getting the mailers & offers and I'm not. This is twice now in two years. Also bold-faced lied to in personal phone calls by the GM (at the time) Bill Florence. Bill made several direct promises to me that he was correcting a table game issue complaint, made by a vast number of gaming patrons including myself, dealers, pit-supervisors, and floor managers. He then did not deliver of his word. HE IS A BOLD-FACED LIAR!. Several other egregious service issues with casino employees have occurred over this same time-period. Maryland Live on the other hand recognizes and delivers great customer service. Live is the same distance as Hollywood..... so always choose Maryland Live for casino play. Only thing at Hollywood Charles Town that should be considered is the horse racing. The casino is despicable when it comes to customer service, satisfaction, and caring. Stay away from there. Oh yeah, and that is coming from someone won a large jackpot two weeks ago

This is a great place to kill free time by enjoying free soda while watching people both lose their money and give off a lifeless persona. It'd be better with more secluded smoking sections, though.

Fun. One complaint though is that a smoking section of the casino is not connected to the race track, which is smoking. Strange.

Overall not a bad casino for the location, but table limits seemed high for a Sunday night when I was there.

payback terrible at this casino however the casino is clean uodated and has an adequate food court...nice for a quick visit

Half of the casino was closed which made the rest of the casino crowded....not fun.

Been there many times and will never return again. It needs to be investigated! No one wins there. Something shady going on. The Statistical differentiation that is normal to the results of Black Jack do not apply at Charlestown. The house wins abnormally many more times than it should if the game were legit! Do not waste your hard earned money.

If you are going to run a gambling establishment then stay open until the last race at a particular venue. Not 10: 30, after Charlestown's last race. No way to run a business. Its infuriating.

Fun place to lose money lol. Card tables are fun but crowded. Had some fun playing black jack and roulette. Wish they had the whole casino smoke free I hate smelling cigarettes. Food court was decent not terribly over priced I guess they feel bad taking all your at the slots and tables!!!

First time visiting. Its a nice facility. One of the first things I noticed was what seemed to be a larger staff count than other places weve visited. They were all pleasent and it was nice to have help or directions so readily available. Great selection of table games as well as slots. Large electronic roulette area ! Good food choices available, clean restrooms and tons of covered, lit , monitored parking.

Unfortunately we weren't able to stay in gamble long enough because of the smoking in the casino was so bad

Came here on a Thursday night was very slow at the Casino. Between my wife and I we play the high stake slots. Within four hours not one jackpot for us or anyone playing in the high stakes areas. There better turn up the odds or people are gonna quite coming. Won t be back for awhile tired of donating to West Virginia.

Came to see a comedian at the Casino, it was difficult to walk through the casino floor with all the smoke. Very unfortunate that they still allow smoking because I think more young people would come gamble and see shows if they did not have to smell like an ashtray afterwards. The venue for the comedian was pretty good and the show was enjoyable.

Took a nice trip through the countryside to go to the Sportsbook at their casino. There were around 50-60 people in line to place bets and 2 windows open. After moving up about 5 steps in 20 minutes with the line not moving I was out of there!

Little guys gotta wait for the big shots. Service is poor, attitudes terrible. MGM is where's at if you want equal quality service. NEVER again!!!

Great music in the club. The DJ and the band in the club we're great. Nice atmosphere.

Great place only complain is that they need to maintain the soda machines better

A dated casino with great comps, average food across the board, great employees and mediocre slots with a mix of live horse racing is what makes up this casino.

Great place to gamble. 9 Dragons restaurant is amazing also.

I love the scenic drive on the way to this entertainment place. I also love to watch the concerts and one man shows they have. And they have quite an array of stars doing shows for entertainment. They also have a good buffet area serving different kinds of food. And a lot of shows and music on the main floor. This is a great place to while away time if you like the drive and mountain views.

I was there with my husband, who is well known for his gambling. We played 4 card poker with his help I won $500.

It was small and the games don't pay well but the staff is pretty awesome and friendly.

I had a good time here, even joined their membership and plan to go back. Main issue was the cigarettes being smoked next to me choked me up and I had to leave when I finally got on a roll. Next time I will stick with the non smoking area for my entire visit. The service (as far as servers coming around) were rather short compared to other casinos I have visited. Should have been more people on the floor. I feel like that's due to the fact you can self serve sodas and water in certain areas of the casion.

Seating sucks for the concerts crammed everything together for more money.

I loved it! My boyfriend and I came in and was greeted nicely. We played some slots then to blackjack. Now we both know how to play blackjack but not by the casino rules. The dealer was such a nice guy to take the time to explain to us what the rules were and how to play, very patient. Thank you for that because now everytime we go I'm always wanting to play blackjack!!! I definitely will recommend this place to others.

Machines are so tight mo one hitting, no one celebrating wins. Just blah..
