Holiday Inn/Amish Inn Splash Universe Water park Review

Got an 8 person room, only included 4 water park passes. Small room. Breakfast was cold, out of both milk and orange juice and the kids running the place didnt know what they were doing. Will never stay here again.

Food in snack shack was high priced and disgusting. Gift shop had very little options.

I have stayed here several times while in Michigan. The hotel is clean and adequate. The water park is fun for smaller children but it is often very crowded and older children may get bored.

Nice little place to get wet and have some fun. Price is a but much if you pay without a deal or a Groupon.

The waterpark is nice and kid friendly, however the hotel has decreased in quality since the last visits. I recommend it only as a day trip, the food for the hotel breakfasts is not very good, however the staff is very nice and there is a pool and small gym.

I never write reviews but I am highly disappointed...

#1- the heat in our room did not work all night, when maintence came they said it was just fine but we were freezing all night, not them.

#2- the hairdryer did not work, they brought a new one but come to find out the outlets do not work. So he just left hairdryer on table and his trash from the box in the bathroom

#3- the locks on the doors work with the key when they want too

#4- we got the family suite that sleeps 8. It was very dark, musty, and cobwebs all over the ceiling. For the price we paid, $360 for one night, is absolutely ridiculous.

#5- the towels are sand paper in the bathroom and the towels by pool are like kitchen towels at a resturant

#6- the box of kleenex in bath was empty

#7- the "waterpark" looks very run down, also very slippery everywhere. My son slipped and smacked his head on floor of baby pool

#8- not enough seating area by pool with little walk space

#9- half of the arcade games were broken or barely worked.

10#- we will never come back

Oh yeah, nobody ever checked our wrist bands... so what did we pay for???

Great spot to escape the cold in the winter, kids liked the pool and waterslide

Great inexpensive place to take the kids to enjoy a quick getaway. Needs a couple updates and more locker space to accomadate heavy volumes of people needing to store their valuables away if only visiting for the day. Perhaps a couple more water features as well. Overall great place to visit, have kids party, or just enjoy water rides.

Was appropriate for 2y/o, 4y/o, and 5y/o. There was not as much for thw 2y/o but she was still kept busy and enjoyed it. Plenty for the other two children. We went on a Saturday and it was a little crowded. I felt that the life guards were hypervigilent and felt that my chikdern were safe and well monitored. Limited life jackets on site, ao bring your own if needed.

Went this past Thursday and Friday...got to our room went to take a shower found pubic hair in the shower I just simply let it go and cleaned it up took my 3 kids down to the water was in 2 foot water being whistled at and yelled at by life guards for playing with my son watched it happen with many others I didn't pay 300$ to be yelled at and told what to do !!! The splash universe bathroom smelt like old pee and toilets was covered in pee and half of them out of order when I said something no one would clean it my son had to pee in the drain pipe because he had to go so bad.The arcade was just horrible i dont see how they have pride in any of that nonsense u spend a dollar on a game that doesnt even work its all a rip off. After tht we left I forgot a pillow in my room that morning when I went to front desk to get it I was left there for an hour and still no pillow and still yet to get it when I Called the vice president Rob he didn't seem to care about any of my concerns at all never even Called me back like he said he would I ended up calling him back when talking to him he still didn't seem to care blew off all my issues and did nothing to fix the problem at all and was extremely rude for a vice president to treat a customer with concerns like that you are wrong never again Will I go there again EVER !!! Inconsiderate staff and vice president and very horrible at their jobs I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!! You people are horrible at your jobs and I plan to take it to corporate ! A simple apology would have sufficed but you couldn't even do that shame on you

Great water park for kids. Our two little ones loved it!

Great place to go and splash around. GREAT from younger kids in that it is small and not quite as crazy as some of the larger places.

It s alright. It is pricey for the size if you are getting a day pass at full price. 2 big slides for the older kids. The whole place is the size of a large banquet hall. And the noise. You ll definitely have hearing loss after spending 1+ hours in the place. Decibel average for 1 min = 95dbl

It was very crowded and not as large as I thought it would be. There was no place to sit and the food is very expensive and not that good. Service is slow

Water park was great. Hotel staff was generally young. Room locks were having issues with cards not being recognized. Many of the arcades were out of order. One of the arcades would take my money and not let me play.

I attended a birthday party in late February but left without my bathing suit. I called back frequently to see if it had been found and it did. My credit card information was taken for the shipping payment.

It's now Match 27th and I have not seen any charge for shipping or my bathing suit hasn't arrived. No phone calls to update me on what's going on either. The weather is getting warmer and I'd like to know whether or not I need to buy a new one. It's very unprofessional and suspicion to take that kind of information down if it's not being used.

Great birthday parties pizza was good and they are huge

It was a nice facility and all of the employees were great. The breakfast offered when staying at their hotel was buffet style and very fresh. I was really looking to floating in the lazy river. But, I learned that it was not actually a lazy river. The rules are very relaxed for the lazy river compared to many other indoor water parks I ve visited. I was kicked by children countless times as they were attempting to rough house with others. Tubes are optional and sometimes there were 3-5 people playing rough around 1 tube. The lazy river isn t good for those with toddlers/babies or those who are pregnant or elderly. I say that because the safety aspect with all of he rough playing going on in the river. Other than that, children ages 6+ seemed to have a blast. There isn t anywhere else for them in the park to actually swim like other parks (no activity pool, etc.). The hot tub was very relaxing and very large and was for adults 18+ only. There was a nice play area for the small toddlers with slides. The arcade seemed expensive and didn t have many options for prizes when turning in tickets. Many of the arcade games were also out of service.

Facility is on the decline. Changing area smelled of urine, flies were all over the place.

Slow day at Splash Universe made for an enjoyable stay. Very few people, not nearly as crowded. Alert lifeguards. Only real problem is the arcade... Too expensive!!!! Otherwise, fun day in the water!

We had a great time. Would recommend Splash Universe to everyone.

Loved it. Celebrated 2 great grand daughters birthdays. Ran up the stairs 9 times and down the tubes, at 75 years young. Will do it again some day,

Great place, fun. Very attentive life guards and they serve beer. Win for everyone!

Wife and took our two toddlers there and had an absolute blast, saved about $60 by booking tickets online through their website (might not always be applicable) we got the family pack that came with pizza 4 drinks cookies and breadsticks. They have a splash pool for the very little kids and an ABUNDANCE of life jackets available at no charge for infants through youth sizes. 2 very large water slides require 36 inches minimum to go with someone 42 inches to go alone down the big slides. Had a blast will be going again next time were in the area!

We had such a beautiful room. Stayed in the Cabela's suite. Loves the whirlpool in room and the fireplace . Had a wonderful overnight stay and would definitely recommend that room to anyone

It was way over crowded. The staff was unresponsive and unintenive. The men's room only has 3 changing stalls which which means a long line. The lockers are very costly and small for the cost. The lazy river will cost someone their life one day, it has such a current that it makes it hard to get to the exits. We won't be back even though it's only 5 min away.

I took my child here for her 10th birthday she loved it despite the price I still took her

The Waterpark was great and not crowded at 530 but as it got closers to 8 it became too crowded.

We went here while visiting my parents in Michigan. I only gave 3 stars because it was so crowded in there way to many for that place you could barley move around. People didn't have tables or chairs to sit in so we kept having people as if we were leave so hey could have our table. It was fun but they really show have more table/chairs for people and people kept taking 4-5 towels at a time so they ran out. Snack bar takes forever so don't bother! Only 1 person was working at the register. With that many people I think you guys can do better to make sure these things do not happen. My daughter loved it though. Last thing was it was a bit cold in there as it was snowing outside, I was freezing! We asked why and they said they had to turn the heat down because people were getting sick?

Flys everywhere. 3 quaters of the arcade don't work. All three kids got sick but they were very accommodating to our needs.

This place was great, we had a suite and 8 of us slept comfortably...not super expensive for things. Plenty to do, and the kids loved it, the kiddie pool was perfect for the Lil ones, even had a couple slides...has alit for adults as well....the only negative thing I can say is that they ABSOLUTELY NEED wrist bands for family's and some type of security, It would be way too simple for kids to end up missing! Something similar to what Chuck E Cheese has, that way kids can't leave with anyone else but who there supposed to leave with!! Very Important security step that needs attention!!

Ok honest fair review....we booked this place for an easy 36hr get away for my fiance, our 7yr old, and myself. We rented a room with a bunk bed and a king. The room is nice, clean, and comfy. A little over priced. No HBO, no on demand, so don't plan on a movie night unless you bring some media. I'd give the room a 4 out of 5 honestly not bad. The rest of the facility..... Woof
The water park is waaay underwhelming. I'd say it's fine for ages 3-7. It is horribly over crowded. You can buy a "day pass" for the water park(more of a fancy splash pad) and that seemed to overwhelm the facility. Not nearly enough areas to sit and place your things down. You can get a locker($7 small one). You could rent a "cabana" gets you a small 4-5 person area above the pool with a couple lawn chairs and a tv for a day($120). I got a couple beers 16oz Budweiser aluminum can ($5.99 ea but I knew that going into it). Also you need a tube to ride either of the 2 waterslides(if you call them that) and there are about 15 of them for 200 people... So ya have fun with that.
Ok so room was ok, water park was a little disappointing. The staff has been great so far though. A girl shuffled some rooms around to allow my family to check in and get to our room on time. And the rest were nice enough in our passing exchanges. Then we move to the arcade.... Double woof.
Minimum 50% of the games are out of order. You load a card with cash and the card keeps track of your to tickets. We had card issues most of the time. The games cost $1.00-$2.00 PER PLAY. Like touch a button there goes $2. So that was extremely disappointing. The prizes are of course garbage but I realize that is not the point. Don't waste your time there is a David Buster's 30min away in Toledo.
The location is a little off the grid. There is the massive Cabela's store across the street that is worth a walk through. Cool facility the is worth the photo opportunity to for the family. Go buy an over priced flashlight and some bass pro beef jerky you won't regret the visit. Out side of that there is nothing worth seeing within a 30min drive.
Did our 7yr old have a fun time... Yes
Did us adults have a fun time... ehh would not want to spend a second night that's for sure and we won't be coming back. Could have gone to Kalahari for about $100more for a night and we would have had a much better experience I think.

Had a blast with the family here and food was delicious.

What a waste of money. There's nothing good about this place. 1 pizza an 4 cups is $25 and the pizza is nasty. Half the place was closed because there not enough people working there. The game room robs you of your money. The game are 1 to 2 dollars pre game. You swipe your card and it taks money off card but don't get to play have to swipe again. 1 time i payed 6 dollar to play 1 game

Fun time, but expensive. If you have young children who are getting in for free you are better off buying a day pass and driving 15 minutes down the road to stay at a cheaper Birch Run hotel.

Lack of adult employees managing this place. Waiting in line, outside the water park at gift shop, to get some towels that are kept in secret behind the counter..it was a Saturday. Probably not a big deal but a pain in the ass. Men's room smelled like a portapotty all day.

We came to hang at Splash Universe on a rainy day with the family. We had a blast! A great little park!

Water was pretty cold. Life guards were present but not enforcing rules. Lockers rooms were messy and hard to change in. Not enough life vests or towels to supply all guests. Hot tub was broken down, so a lot of adults were sitting in toddler pool due to it being the only warmer water at the park.

Today was the first time we visited Splash Universe with my 3 yr old son. It was jammed packed and very over whelming. We should have known it was going to be crazy since we couldn't even find a parking spot. We went to the airbrush stand rather than the front desk because I didn't know which one was which. The waterpark area was so packed that if we didnt already purchase our admission from Groupon, we would have left. We didn't know if there were any family changing areas. There were so many people by the lockers that I thought I was going to get knocked in the lazy river. There were no open lockers and we ended up having to put our belongings in the truck because there was no where for us to put our stuff. Once we changed in the bathroom, we finally got in lazy river. It was packed and we could barely move. Overall there was people everywhere. Kids were cutting in the long lines and it was an unpleasant experience. Also, we continually watched the life guards pace back and forth in their posts but it seemed like they were just worried more about falling in and turning around to walk the other way rather than actually watching what was happening in the lazy river. The older kids were fighting and were misbehaving but the lifeguards never said anything to them. If there was an emergency I'm wondering how they would have ever caught it since their eyes were up instead of down at the river...My husband also got a bad headache from the strong chlorine smell. We did enjoy trying to have fun with our son and seeing his excited smiles going down the big slides but I don't think we'll be back.

Way too many people in the lazy river and they should've taken out those tubes. Service at the snack place sucker. Waited 30 mins for a pizza that was clearly sitting there forever. The 2 slides they had were OK fun, we didn't check out the arcade.

I hated every minute. No where to change. Puddles of water everywhere. Tiny lockers. Gross. The "Asian massage parlour" of water parks. Stay away. This place should not be allowed to operate in Michigan. Obviously the "no refund" policy is in place for a reason.

Small indoor water park decent for little kids. We had fun and will return. The only issue was the strong chlorine smell.

Great water park good food the prices are expensive the customer service at the cafe and really anywhere the was food or games was poor. People including myself waited 25 minutes plus for food waited almost 2 hours to eat dinner in the cafe besides this issues it was very fun

Great for a birthday party! Park is clean and well staffed. Slides are fun; water is warm & crystal clear. Food is delicious but pizza is comparable to Little Caesar's hot & ready. Go early for best seating and locker rental.
Wonderful for a family outing no one will forget.

Overall great time. Bit strong on chlorine but needs to be to stay sanitary. Slippery if not wearing water shoes.

Was a bit gross and run down. Lots of paint missing when you really look around inside... Didn't really meet my expectations. If you're not a guest at the hotel the bathrooms are barely functional as changing rooms if you can even call them that. With little kids getting everyone ready and into swimsuits on site was a nightmare. Bring towels and dress in your swimsuit if you're not planning on paying for a room. Kids had fun and the park was well staffed.

Met our expectations, nice small indoor water park. Broke the trip up. Doing upgrades at property too.

I think that splash universe was a fun place.(ONLY IF YOUR A TODDLER!!!!)I think the waterpark has nothing for the older kids to do other than going on the slides.There are no pools there and the lazy river is only 4 feet tall.The big slides are cool but everything else they have there is boring.I litterally spent tons of money for my family to go and they don't even have anything for the older kids except the 2 big slides.So if i were you i would get more activities for older kids like more slides and a pool if i were you.We will come back when there is a pool and some more big slides.

Splash is a great place to let the kids get their energy out . My girls love it here they run and play all day. The party package prices are not bad either

Only having been there once I can't speak to whether this is a regular occurence, however when we visited it was very overcrowded. There was inadequate seating and storage space leaving you standing with your belongings while not in the water.

Way over crowded would have been a great water park had not been so full of people the hotel was wonderful

Nice afternoon out with the kiddos. Only thing that was a downfall was the lazy river/big waterslide getting shut down due to a parent not making sure their child had a swim diaper on. I think Splash Universe should require babies/toddlers wear the swim diapers to prevent this from happening.
