Fun little pub for a drink and bite. Don't get ahead of yourself though.
Food and service was excellent,. My wife and I make it one of our 1st stops for dinner when we visit
Established in 1957, this little hostelry claims to have won more 'Best of Bermuda' awards for Best Pub than all other Bermudian pubs combined. I can readily believe this.
It also claims to be the original inspiration for the 'Cheers' pub in the US TV series, although of this I am somewhat sceptical - I'll let them fight it out with the 'Bull and Finch' pub in Boston USA.
A range of keg beers on offer, including Sam Adams and various ales from Dockyard Brewing Company. Unfortunately, they serve US pints, not Imperial pints. (I always feel cheated by this - though I know full well the price is adjusted downward to reflect the smaller US measure).
Good range of pub grub - but at first glance, somewhat overpriced in my opinion. A disappointing Bermuda fish chowder - for me the only thing that made it Bermudian was the rum and sherry peppers. However my deep fried fish and chips were good (probably the best chips I've had on the Island, in recent times). The wife's open panino of smoked salmon, figs, walnuts and cream cheese was reportedly excellent.
They don't serve all guests seated at the table at the same time - the meals are delivered 'as they come'. So, if you have been brought up with basic manners and don't start your meal until all have been served, expect your dish to be cold by the time all meals arrive at the table.
We complained about this (after all, there were only two of us at the table to serve) and the manageress was most apologetic; explaining my wife's special of 'soup and sandwich' was treated as one course, and they were waiting for me to finish my chowder before bringing out her special. She then fixed everything (zapping my cold soup, etc) and the service by all staff thereafter was exemplary. Couldn't be faulted.
Free wifi, ask for password.
I had the Shepherd's Pie here in 1985. It's 2020 and I'm still taking about it!!!
The food is acceptable but nothing to write home about. Local beer is great. If you need a quick bite in a pub environment, Hog Penny fits your needs.
Very old authentic pub. The yellowtail Tartare is awesome. Great food and Locations.
Have been there before and enjoyed it. Tonight I had the worst prime rib I ever had. I would never go back again.
Amazing old time pub for the best of drinks and food
I was there in 1982 if memory serves me right. The owner gave me a small mug like glass which I used here at home. It has been broken and I'd like to replace it. Great place to eat and drink.
Really good food, good price, cool atmosphere.
Snag a coaster as a souvenir!
This place is a good bar to stop by and grab a drink after a meal. The bartender is very friendly and will tell you all sorts of stories. It is open until a bit late and the prices are good. We met a couple of drunk Portuguese constructors that made the night a bit more fun, crazy guys. Good place to hang out with buddies
The food was okay. I had a salad and french onion soup. The waitstaff was less than inviting with only 3 tables of customers.
Wonderful food and drinks were stellar. If you like mojitos, then the Dark n Stormy Hogito will be your new favourite. Prices were pretty good (for Bermuda) and the interior is comfortable and casual. We did have an issue with our dessert (left too long in the fridge) but the manager and server were extremely apologetic and gave us a discount, which shows they care about their customers and reputation. Aside from the dessert, I would go back for the food and drinks.
An excellent classic British pub with pub fare and drinks. Moderately priced for the island the food delivers! Definitely a great spot to grab a bite
Looking pretty tired these days, its seen better times!
The old " Cheers " bar/restaurant has improved it's menu. Service is not as before. Guess they don't know our names.
Cool pub, good food. Easy to walk to from cruise ships
Delicious black bean burger, fresh and as leftovers!! Great drinks too!
British that features great seafood from the days catches. Best casual place in Bermuda
We stopped here after a local s recommendation. I ll have to say, without a doubt I had the best calamari I ve ever had in my entire life here. The mixed drinks were delicious, so was our meal. The staff was wonderful, and mama joe was a delight. Highly recommend!
Stopped by for a quick drink during "Harbor Night" while waiting for the last ferry back to the cruise port. Our bartender Steven was fun and accommodating. There was a guitar vocalist on the small stage offering to play backup to your live karaoke endeavors. His song catalog was not very current or extensive but he passed it around. I think it's a fun place. Try it out!
Great pub, friendly atmosphere, terrific food and drink.
Everything was very good. Good ambiance and service. The Bhuna masala and the sliders were excellent.
Mostly white crowd. Very touristy and not bermudian
Great service!! Ira our bartender was the best! He has years of experience and will give you or make you a drink. Love this bar!! Fun fact: this is the bar the show CHEERS was based off of.
Good food and entertaining live music late at night
A great stop in Bermuda for food and drinks. We had the beer cheese fries. I didnt want to share, and could barely eat my sandwich because of it!
Great little boozer, bit of a local pub, could do with more draft lagers but a good selection of bottled lagers. Bar staff are fantastic. Great entertainment in the evenings. Haven't eaten here yet so will update once I have.
Excellent dining choice. Best seafood chowder on the island. Very hearty fare, but the prices are a little hefty too. Highly recommend. Extensive menu with a wide variety of flavours. Pleasant decor and a very welcoming atmosphere. You ll remember this place. It s a favourite.
