Our ferry to Faroe and Iceland, departed from this port. And we spent some hours around the port before departure. Not much to see except the winds, sea birds, the sand, the stones, and the port activities.

They made big queues and waiting time was almost an hour so that was bit annoying but apart from that loading unloading was great and nice options were there on ship for eating and drinking. Dock was amazing

The large ferry port was undergoing an extensive expansion in 2016 so the place was a bit of a mess, parking was in a huge shale field, we looked like the cast out of MAD MAX!..Getting on board was a new experience, only the drivers can take the vehicles on board. EVERYONE else has to embark as foot passengers..Ive done plenty of ferries over the years but this ferry company has its own special way of doing business

Nice port for travelling to Denmark by ferry. Usually the departure is ok, but the return to Norway is a nightmare because of long queue of custom eventhough at 02:00 early in the morning.

If you are taking the ferry, and have some hours to spare.
I will suggest going to the oceanarium and/or Hirtshals fyr.
The town has also some good cafe's
The port is ok, but not much to enjoy here.
