I have never been disappointed or had a bad meal here; chicken is fresh, juicy and amazing, spiced perfectly and so delicious. The milkshake made with pie is an experience not to be missed!! I m not a soda person BUT i get their fountain soda every time, the flavors are nummy & refreshing. Very spacious and there is seating downstairs when it gets busy. Give them a try!!

Chicken tenders were great-- crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, as they should be. Didn't try much else.
Where do I start. The chicken was very undercooked. So undercooked that there was blood and the bone was red. Also, the outside was so overfried it looks black. When we asked to speak to the manager she came up to us with a nasty attitude and said that it wasn't undercooked and it was just a vein. She started arguing with my aunt about it. I wish I could load a picture to show you how nasty the chicken looked. It was slimy. One of the workers got very upset with my uncle for grabbing a tray. When we asked her for something later she agreed reluctantly without eye contact . Very disgruntled . At least we got some money back for the nasty roadkill chicken.

Best fried chicken ever!!! We got the sando, whole bird, macaroni salad and extra comeback sauce - the highlight was the fried chicken, the thigh piece of it is so juicy and flavorful. Seriously so so good! We came here on a Friday after the holidays and waited 4 hours! It's worth the wait and not so bad if you mentally prepare yourself for it.
Underwhelming given how pricy the food is. The chicken meat is bland and the skin as well. I don't know why I see so many people eating here when there are better cheaper chicken places to eat.

Avoid this place at all cost! Way overpriced for garbage food. It tastes like it looks ... already eaten once by someone else. I was actually happy I made it to a table. The floor is so greasy I almost broke my neck slipping. This lunch cost me 17 dollars. A funny looking "sandwich" named wickedwich and a side of creamy cold slaw. The grilled chicken still had bones in ... so be aware I would say! The cole slaw was everything but creamy ... When I wanted to take a mayo cup out of their self service corner, my hands got all sticky due to open mayonnaise cups in the container, just disgusting. The only positive note was that my Blue Ribbon beer was cold enough to swallow away my sorrow!

Wayyyyy too expensive for 2 pieces of chicken. The seasoning was good and the chicken was decently moist and tender but nothing outstanding, it felt it was not freshly fried. Mac and cheese felt like it was made with cheese sauce, pimento and crunchy bits on top were nice.

The chicken is good, but more expensive then I believe it needs to be. They could improve their combo offerings to make it easier for their customers to try more food without spending $20 on lunch.

Me and my family case in hours before closing, ordered a family meal only to be told they ran out of drumsticks and wings and didn t have enough classic chicken to fill a 10-piece. The Coop comes with 4 fountain drinks and this place had no cups with lids except for only 2 coffee cups. Idk who the lead for this shift was but she made sure the young lady at the register didn t help us all the way through and she didn t want to give us a cup carrier for the rinky dink cups they did give us. Also sales lead was constantly shouting for the young lady working at the register and being absolutely rude. Awful, awful, awful.
Very disappointed with this last visit, the drum was overly salty and the breast did not have enough salt and it had one spot on it with a lot of some seasoning that was not normally on the chicken. The breast was also a lot smaller than all of the previous times.
Seems like this place is starting to slack off as some places do.

I was walking by and it looked almost like an old fashion diner. I had chicken tenders and twice fried mash potatoes. Everything was great. Fast friendly service.
Not very nice for the almost 20 dollars I spent there. Ate less then half of it. Been better value to eat at eataly.

Overall the food was ok, but the price was too high for 2 pieces of chicken and one side ($10+).
If you happen to work in the area, it might be a good spot for lunch, but the prices for too high.

This is a real homey feeling place the chicken is great!, The biscuits are delicious and the banana cream pie is amazing. Unfortunately I have not had the pie in more than a year bc it either runs out or most of the time I'm there too late and the pies are not there. The sitting area is great but it's even better downstairs. It feels like you are eating at home and you can play a few games while you are there like foosball.
Years ago at my first days living in NYC I was randomly walking and found this amazing chicken venue. I come here often. I really like the staff. They re outgoing and friendly. Food is always exactly how we expect. Love the sauces and the choices of fountain drinks. Organic fried chicken very well made and crispy as it has to be.
Unlimited boylan soda bar! That excites me. I love coming here. It's like a southern treat with fried chicken and pie. I find not much of a difference between the southern fried and the skinless, so if you love chomping on chicken skin, of course get the southern fried. The pies are good, small sized. You might be full from the chicken already but there is always room for dessert.
The lunch rush demands logical organization and it just feels confusing here, with ordering in a piecemeal fashion and receiving your food not all at once. Prices just feel high for what you get, though the chicken is very tasty.
I wish I could say this was excellent chicken, but it's more along the lines of average. However if you find yourself here, try the pies or shakes. You also can't go wrong with a pie shake.

Great fried chicken! If you're looking for non-fast food fried chicken, I would definitely recommend this place.
There are two types of Fried Chicken "Classic" and "Mama Els". Basically Mama Els is fried but sans bread and more spice. Both are delicious.
They offer a number of sides but none on the healthier side. Even the veggies are packed of cream and cheese. I wish they had like a steam or roasted veggies option.
Their biskets are big but on the dryer side. I know a ton of people who love then but I like biskets that are a tad moister.
They also have a large mini pie selection, milkshakes AND pie-shakes. Yep, you heard me.
Lastly, if you're a Soda/Pop person, they have Boylans on draft. You can also buy wine and beer.

Very fine fried chicken. The classic was far better than the Mama Mel's. Cole slaw and broccoli salad were both great too. Staff are very friendly. If you're looking for fried chicken you could do far, far worse.
It was good. Service was nice and friendly, food was relatively quick and inexpensive, even for new york. I got the chickwich and a biscuit. Chickwich was suprisingly larger than the photo, and it was full white meat fresh chicken,delicious with the pickles. Biacuot was hot and fresh, very buttery.

Not your average fast-food place, in a positive way! Chicken had incredible flavour, even though it was a bit greasy for my (Dutch) standards. Fries were good, WiFi is free and relatively fast. I actually came back another time when I found myself near the Flatiron again, that says enough.
Used to be so good!! Chicken sandwiches were stone cold! The fries were OK. And it just had a really sad vibe in there, unlike before when it was a lot more cheery
Friendly fast service, an American-retro decor, and delicious chicken make for a perfect trio at this Flatiron-adjacent spot. Prices are very reasonable, portion sizes are huge, and I left satisfied.
Just walked in to buy a pie and coffee. Four staff behind the counter, three doing nothing. I stand there waiting, they just keep talking among themselves, look at me, keep talking, so I leave. One star is too much.
I was dissapointed by the vibe of this place but the food itself is pretty good. I was hoping it would be based on good ol fashioned southern hospitality but it was just like every other restaurant in NYC: expensive and stingy. Can't hold that against them. As a former southern-bell turned city-slicker it would be nice to see more compassion and generosity in the city. But the little food I got was really good so I'll still probably go again.

I don t take joy in writing negative reviews, but my recent experience at this establishment was too abhorrent to not acknowledge. I have previously eaten here and loved it! Unfortunately during this visit (dinner vs lunch which is perhaps part of the problem?) they didn t have the white wine I ordered so they gave me a room temperature can of rose cider. When I asked for a cup of ice it was acknowledged with a dirty look. I ordered the classic (cheaper) meal but was charged for the deluxe without receiving the biscuit that is part of the deluxe pricing. The pimento Mac and cheese contained barely any cheese, mostly lukewarm plain noodles (pictured.) I m so embarrassed to have spent $25 on this terrible meal! I have patronized and loved Hill Country many times but this experience was enough to make me never visit again - woof!
Tasty lunch, the skinless chicken is very good. A little pricey but overall kind of healthy. The service is great! Update: had an odd yellow piece of chicken. Yellow chicken meat!

Worst chicken I've had in a long time! I ordered mac and cheese and they gave me mashed potatoes. The chicken was tasteless, the drink size was small, the biscuit was dry and worst of all the price was ridiculous for the amount of food you get, $16!That was the first and last time I will ever go to Hill Country Chicken. I also will never recommend someone eat here.

Kind of an upscale fried chicken joint. Nice ambiance, and a little expensive.
Horrible delivery. All food came cold and mushy . None of the sauce I asked ( mayo and hot ) were not in the package. Chicken was soft over seasoned, fries was all sticky and soft. I ordered first time and very disappointed. Worst part my pie was upside down. I am not sure if I will give them second chance. Sorry I won't write review usually but this one really make me upset.
