I worked here for 6 months. I was an aide in the kitchen. When I was hired I was promised 20 hours a week. When I quit working here I was working 20 hours every two weeks. I watched CNA s stand around while residents transported themselves. Higher management talks down to the employees that do the actual work. We did a picnic outside not too long ago and none of the staff knew what exactly was needed. In the kitchen they ask for too much in too short of a time span so you re always behind on dishes or serving. I ve seen the RNs give one resident another residents medication because the RNs sit behind the desk all day and almost never interact with the residents. Some of the staff is fantastic, don t get me wrong... but management sucks and a lot of the CNAs, RNs and dietary staff don t give a hoot about the residents well-being. This place is disappointing. I wouldn t send my dog here to be taken care of if we re being frank about it. This from an insider... please don t send your family here if you don t want to see them neglected or ignored....
This is the cleanest, kindest nursing home and rehab center we have ever encountered. Couldn't be happier to have our Mom living there for the past year. We had a hospitalist tell us it was the best nursing home in the Cedar Rapids area and we agree!
Please get to know their policies and request same before you learn after the fact they may not harmonize with other organizations. Get a patient care advocate for if that seems to you. I have included pictures taken since I o arrived this app and it at Hiawatha Care Center that show. Painful legs and feet caused 1st day I entered Center and was left in wheelchair from drop off at 2 till 9p without any medication until I put on mask and left my room to wheel my self down hall to find nurse
Worked there for a month. Worse experience I ever had. Building is very nice. I enjoyed working the residents. Upper management could care less about the employees. I was the 3rd maintenance person they hired since January. I should of took that as a red flag. No please or thank you .Rushing you all the time. Always walking around finding something wrong with what you do. The housekeeping supervisor is very unthankful very rude. Thinks she knows it all. You think they would figure out that maybe she'.s the problem and not the employee's. The administrator talks down to you making himself look big. I glad I'm out of there.
