This center needs to be investigated by the state....

This center needs to be investigated by the state. My mother is currently at this center. My mother is recovering stroke patient and needs maximum assistance. 100% today she fell. The center failed to report this incident. The Director Nestor said so sorry, but I don t have the report. I said excuse me, you don t have the incident report when this fall was over 3 hours ago? He said I am sorry... let me contact her nurse. My mother told me about her fall. She also told me that at night she doesn t get enough rest seems like they are having a party. She calls the nurse for assistance they come all upset and bother she calls for water, and assistance for removal of diaper. She currently has a diaper rash due to her diaper being left for numerous hours. I will follow up with director and demand answers. I can t wait for the state to investigate.

So far, I have only went on a walk through tour at the Heritage and found it to be exceptionally clean and they appear to have a good choice of activities to choose from. I am very hopeful to be placed at the Heritage in their long term More

Reviews for this facility need to be separated int...

Reviews for this facility need to be separated into the Physical Therapy Unit (whose personnel and treatments are excellent) and the Nursing/Care Unit, whose personnel are generally inattentive, and their leadership/doctors who have little ability to distinguish between a patient in distress vs. a patient who is improving.

My father-in-law was brought to Heritage for rehab following a heart valve replacement at Kaiser. He was 94, frail, had lost considerable weight, and had developed a condition with his esophagus following surgery which made it difficult for him to swallow during eating or drinking, and caused him to feel noxious after ingesting small amounts.

Having made it through the heart valve replacement, he was motivated to get through the rehab, and enjoy a few additional golden years. He worked hard at the physical therapy, but also needed to ingest ~1500 calories a day to have enough energy to improve and was struggling to do that.

Heritage provided pureed meals, or hi-calorie Boost as an alternative to regular meals. Due to his esophageal condition, all the alternatives were difficult for my father-in-law to consume without feeling he would vomit. There was little effort to understand the nature of the problems with his esophagus. One of the Heritage leaders badgered him to the point of humiliation in her attempt to get him to continue eating/drinking, even after he had asked for a plastic bag to vomit. 2 days later he was dead.

I would caution anyone who wants their loved one to have a compassionate productive rehabilitation to avoid this facility. If you do have a loved one there, you must have a family member present almost around the clock for them to get the attention / help they need.

My mom went there for inpatient physical therapy. ...

My mom went there for inpatient physical therapy. Most of the staff was nice, but not very attentive. When she needed help to get to the bathroom they always took at least 15 minutes to get there, and always too late. In the hospital before they gave her a walker and a bedside commode and she was fine, but Heritage wouldn't do that. I watched one of her physical therapy session and it ok. She made progress walking with a walker, but they didn't do much work with her getting out of her bed or a chair (she actually got worse). They discharged her without getting her close to being able to get up and around on her own. I would not take anyone else I cared about there.

6 months ago I went to Heritage here for rehabilitation after some back surgery that I had to have which was called a laminectomy and they had me up and walking with a walker in no time at all then they also trained me how to use a cane as well and I was at Heritage for around 10 days or so. I rate Heritage as No. 1 with great nursing as well as a great therapy room with wonderful nurses and therapists who took really great care of me. So if you are looking for a place for excellent Rehabilitation Heritage is the place to go to I highly recommend it. Thank you Heritage for everything. I am also now walking with a cane.

My stay in Heritage Rehabilitation Center was duri...

My stay in Heritage Rehabilitation Center was during the period of Coronavirus 19. I was transferred there from the hospital on
7-17-2020. I was placed in the room with a patient having pneumonia. I was in that room for about three nights before I was moved to another room and that was due to my complaints of being in there with such illness. My life could have been at stake. They did not take it upon themselves to move me. Also I noticed the toilet was not being cleaned. I saw the same spot of poop from day to day. I complained at least twice about I and was told that it was being cleaned. Finally, they cleaned it.
One day being wheeled into the bathroom, I saw a worm on the floor. The cleaning lady was called to handle it. She came in with a can of insecticide to kill it. With the expediency of her coming with the can made me wonder if bugs are a usual problem.
Rehab is a place where you should be able to sleep and rest. Sometimes it was so loud in the hallway, I was wondering if a party was going on.
The linen had small holds in them which let me know that they were old and needed to be replaced.
I would never want to be placed there again.

My journey from being involved in a near death car...

My journey from being involved in a near death car accident to finally coming home took two months and three health care facilities. Heritage was the last of the three and I m grateful. The staff is caring, kind, and responsive. I always felt that my needs were a priority that we re always competently handled. I highly recommend Heritage.

If you can, get your family member into Torrance M...

If you can, get your family member into Torrance Memorial's rehab facility (limited beds) or Little Company of Mary''s rehab or Kei-Ai in Gardena. My mom is nearly immobile with after failed surgery to correct spinal stenosis in her lower lumbar (didn't fuse) and in extreme pain. As others on this review have said, PT is pretty good but nurses are seriously lacking. People try to be very nice but seem greatly overwhelmed or just incompetent. Within the first three days of being transferred in, they forgot to give her the nightly Norco for pain, though they repeatedly told her they had given it to her when she kept complaining of pain. Then, in the morning, "oops." One of the nurses at night even gave her attitude and treated her like a junky who just wanted to get hopped up. On another occasion a nurse gave her attitude, so my mom told her she should get into another profession if she doesn't want to help people. The nurse quickly apologized but it's indicative of the type of service to expect. Then they didn't move her in bed correctly and she tweaked her back again, setting back therapy by a couple of days. All the while they were pressuring her and me to move her out of her assisted living center and stay at Heritage long term. That didn't make me or my mom's assisted living place very happy. The place also regularly smells ... my mom's previous rehab center in Fullerton never smelled. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because they have been attentive to my complaints and have tried to be better. But it shouldn't require me getting up in their grill every other day. The only reason she's stayed is mom mom didn't want to get moved again, she is in so much pain, and supposedly she only has a couple of weeks left. But like someone on here said, you must be regularly present at the facility to make sure they are doing their jobs.
