The location of the Park Lane overlooking Central Park is amazing. Even more amazing was the service. The staff went out of their way to ensure our needs were met and more. Our family spent five days at the Park Lane. I would recommend this hotel to any family wanting to visit New York.

The place is extremely worn down. Stains on carpet and furniture, wall sockets fallen out, broken desk, torn couch. Service is average at best - there was nobody to help with our luggage when we arrived. Price and location is excellent though if you can get past the decay.

We have stayed at Park Lane twice and fully enjoyed it both times, once in August and again in January. The rooms are spacious and well cleaned, especially by Gloria on the 28th floor. The buffet from 5-7 in the 2nd floor banquet room is perfect for an early evening lite menu. I love the fact that s the hotel is walking distance to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and so many amazing restaurants, Rockefeller Centre and of course 5th Ave shopping. I love being able to walk across the street and visit Central Park, one our our favorite places in the city. We will return for another visit very soon, the Park Lane is our home away from home.

Run down, decrepit, very overpriced hotel ($400 with tax)... valet was a nightmare, lobby downright depressing, room not made up when we arrived, bath tub rusty and full of hair, internet not working, no room service offered whatsoever. Really $400 a night?

The location and accommodations were great! The happy hour was a nice treat especially since we watched snow fall. The first night our room was good but Lamar and Edidta made arrangements for a better room our second night, which was awesome! My only complaint was that our bags got lost somewhere in transit (for several hours) during the room change. Nana was helpful in getting the problem solved but we were nearly late for our show as a result. I would definitely stay here again!!!

I have visited Manhattan countless times, but this was my first time staying so close to Central Park. Needless to say, Park Lane exceeded any expectations I had! I chose this hotel 100% because of its location and am so happy I did. I was absolutely blown away by the incredible view from my 34th floor suite! Every staff member I encountered went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of during my birthday vacation. Even with a minor hiccup of an air conditioning issue, the staff made sure that I was always comfortable. Let's face it, things happen sometimes that cannot be predicted -- afterall these are older NYC buildings! If I were to suggest anything, it'd be that the furniture (chairs, sofas) in the rooms could be updated, and the carpet could use a refreshing. Other than that, everything was very clean, comfy, and truly added to a magical birthday in the city. :) I will definitely return!

Location is excellent and the room we had on the 20th floor was an executive junior suite with a park view. It was spacious and well appointed with fabulous views over Central Park. Regarding the condition of the hotel, being generous, I'd say it was shabby chic but with a liitle too much emphasis on the shabby. A renovation is clearly overdue. That said, our room was clean and serviced every day.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the evening hospitality betwen 5 and 7 was good and an unexpected bonus with the executive package. The 3 stars in my review are down to the hotel's general shabby condition and the cost of a stay doesn't really reflect this so as it stands the hotel is not good value for money.

I'm giving them a 5 for great value. Great location, good price. The room was very comfortable, with a great bed and very clean. Quick check-in. Good amenities, friendly service, and a gym. Charming. Will come back.

Pretty pricey for a hotel with few amenities.Room at $400 was pretty basic but bed and pillows were comfortable.May just be NY prices but not much for a view of building roofs vs Central Park.Mold in the bath, phones broken, very dated. Wasted $800+ ...
incorrectly billed on checkout, for a restaurant charge which we never visited . Questioned It before we left and it was resolved... possibly overlooking Central Park may have been an improvement but despite making that request several weeks in advance I was informed reservations needed to be made 2 weeks out...mine were 3+... not worth the battle. It was our 50th anniversary and I was not going to let this dictate the outcome. At least we slept well. That was about the last week in August, who knows something miraculous may have happened since but I wouldn't bet the ranch on that.

I've been there in the middle of 2013 around one week during the wedding travel and later.
It's good and the location is wonderful. Nothing comparable to the view on Central Park. I suggest it for your permanence in Manathan.

It is in an excellent location in front of Central Park.
It lacks a bit of maintenance.
New carpets and some paint but I think it is in the process of sale.
It needs a restaurant since it is closed.
Put to new and running better can be highly recommended.
I would also stay again.

If you want to stay here, we recommend Park View on the upper floors. I think cospa is considerably better than other hotels in the same row. The furniture and furnishings are old, but the cleaning was well done, so I didn't care about the oldness. I think it's good to enjoy the antique atmosphere that is typical of NY. The room was large enough and the large desk facing Central Park was very comfortable to work on a business trip.
A small refrigerator is installed in the room.

Unbelievable view from the higher floor rooms - overlooking central park. The buffet on the second floor in the afternoon was a nice touch and make you feel welcome. The addition of a pool would be good, but in NYC it is understandable as space is such as issue. The design was a little bit old fashioned and could do with some renovation - but the location for it is excellent especially as it's next to a major subway stop!

Great location, magnificent view of Central Park for some rooms. spacious bedroom with comfortable bedding.
Welcoming and accessible staff.
The only downside would be that there would be a slight need for freshening up, especially in the bathrooms.
Very nice experience

The hotel staff were, without exception, incredibly courteous and friendly. The rooms were ok -- the beds are uncomfortable (very hard), and the service at Harry's Bar leaves something to be desired, but overall, I enjoyed my stay. They're going to be renovating soon and I would consider staying there again. It's also quite centrally located and for us smokers, there's a nice smoking area outside. I had a very pleasant stay.

The hotel is beautiful and staff very helpful. This place charges $250.00 USD (more than the actual room rate!) for a small dog to stay with you. The highest pet fee I have ever paid in NYC was $100! Talk about price gouging and taking advantage of people who love their pets. My dog doesn't shed, is very friendly, completely house trained and doesn't wreck anything. You would never know I had a dog with me, heck there are plenty of people much dirtier than any dog. They state on their website that they "pooch package" includes a dog bed and treats, etc, but I didn't receive a single item. I feel robbed. I can't complain about the room which was beautiful and very comfortable, or staff who were great. I couldn't do anything else after paying the pet fee, I was completely broke after that. I doesn't always pay to be honest about bringing your pet.

What a great location and wonderful hotel. Everyone was fantastic & customer service was outstanding. Timothy greeted us and made us feel at home when we arrived. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We really liked the wine & hors d'oeuvres from 5-7pm. Betty took great care of us each night. We highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel style classic, beautiful, old fashioned, but all very comfortable and clean. The hotel is located in the heart of Central Park, just a few blocks from Central Park. The hotel is located in the heart of Central Park. The hotel staff is very attentive! The breakfast was not included in the room rate, but it was tasty, well complete and with a beautiful view of the park - we passed! We stayed in a very large room with a spectacular view of the park and downtown north of Manhattan. We paid extra for this, but they knew we were in NY to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were surprised by a good bottle of wine, cheese and fruit. The room had flat / wide TV, hairdryer, safe, minibar, very good heating system and free wifi working well in every hotel. Like most hotels of this standard in NY, there is also an extra resort fee (approximately $ 37 / day). The total cost x benefit was very favorable, we loved it and will go back!

Location is all this place has going for it. Room size is good. Excessive in-house prices. Breakfast cost $92 for basic 'off the menu' - orange juice was $9! Reviews of rude staff are dead-on. Concierge (w beard and glasses) was extremely rude on 2 occasions, to the point where we did not bother to even ask him ever again during our stay for further advice. And we were there for 8 days!

Stayed here as a guest a couple years ago and also hosted several business meetings here. The hotel's location is convenient as it is right near central park. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. I wouldn't describe it as modern, but the decorations do have some old school European charm. As far as the staff goes, they were very welcoming when I stayed here as a guest and accommodating when I had to work with them for business. The front desk ladies were a bit strange though -- I needed a pair of scissors to cut a tag off of a dress and they would not send it to the room but had me bring the dress down to the front. I guess there are some liability issues associated with scissors? Very strange. We had originally booked a room for two people but a friend ended up spending the night and no one at the front gave us any issues. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would probably select Park Lane again if we wanted to stay near Central Park. If you are looking to book a room here it is not the cheapest but if you check online you should be able to find some great deals.

NOTE: Though I enjoyed my stay here, I would not recommend the restaurant. The service was impeccable; however, food is extremely expensive and not tasty. NYC is full of great restaurants, and you can easily find some other options within a 5-block radius.

My family, in various groupings, have stayed here many times and have loved our experience. My wife and I had a trip planned for March of this year, which we were forced to cancel. Thank you for the refund of our payment. You were most gracious. We look forward to being able to return and wish you and all New Yorkers all the best in these times.

How disappointing! The pictures are a total lie ! They are going through renovations but it doesn t excuse the way everything looks! Run down, dirty, exposed wires, extremely dirty baseboards, stained carpets, old old bathroom and the dirtiest curtains( and more) !!!
We booked 2 rooms and cancelled within 5 min . Unacceptable for $400 a night!

DISASTROUS!!!

DISASTROUS!!!

The poorest 5-star hotel I've ever seen. Dirty rooms, old and malfunctioning electrical system, carpet impregnated with smoke and dust, still there since the 1960s. 5 star hotel WITHOUT RESTAURANT. Every night they called us at the reception ORDERING us to show up with a credit card because they said we hadn't paid the whole bill. In reality 3 times they made the wrong count.
They even stopped us from entering the room with the card so that we must necessarily be presented at the reception. The only positive note is the location close to central park. Mostly rude staff except Americo (who speaks a little Italian) and Anthony (son of Italians).
TOM (we think he is the manager) and the most rude and slippery I have ever seen, it was he who ordered us several times to go down with the credit card without even wanting to hear our reasons, without listening to the customer in the least. We were anxious every time they entered the hotel.
NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

The hotel lobby was nice but beware of the rooms. Especially the bathroom, they are the equivalent to a days inn. I took pictures and the front desk moved me to a different room. The second bathroom was just as bad. I was really looking forward to my 4 night stay at Park Place Lane. The Marriott I stayed at in D.C. Was far better. A big plus is that the staff ( bell man, door man, and others) are very pleasant.

Not as expected at all. Besides being a great location, service is very bad. They charged $75 for "facility fee", $35 for breakfast buffet + tax + service fee totaling over $45 for continental buffet that you can get at any other hotel. Welcome to New York.

Stopped on the 5th floor. Old dated decoration. The room was large and comfortable and the cleaners did a good job. The staff were very accomodating, professional and diligent.

The water was cut off for half a day due to the city completing maintenance in the local area without informing the hotel. The hotel staff kept us updated and were very organised and supplied bottled water to all residents.

The issue with this hotel is the decor. Is needs a refurb drastically. Grout kept coming off the wall around the bath so when I put my child in to have a bath they were sharp in there. The sink plug came off in my hand. The carpets were dull and warn. The air con rattled to the point where I had to get up in the night to rearrange the grid covering it. The windows are not double glazed so the road traffic is very load in the room even at night. It woke me and my kid up a few times.
Staff=4 star
Hotel itself=2 star
So I averaged this as 3

nice hotel, we lived in 38 floor and the view of central park was breathtaking. Very friendly personal, every day clean sheets and towels. The gym in the hotel is weaker, little equipped, I was very bothered by the too strong air conditioning, which I do not have much advice during exercise. In the room, the air conditioner worked well and was perfectly regulated.

The worst hotel I have ever visited. We had 2 rooms and because we did not occupy 1 for 1 night they checked us out automatically without even notifying us and then they did not want to give us another, but in the same way they charged us for the previous one every day. The room service was terrible, there were days when we requested it and nobody went. For worse, when you leave, they charge you 40 usd a day on the original price. DO NOT BOOK HERE! IT'S ONLY GOOD LOCATION !!

This is the worst hotel experience in my life as I have traveled all around the world. I've tried Top 6 stars in Dubai and motel's in mexico.Yet, this ranks as the worst place to stay because of the following:

1- they charge $30.22 per day for a food fight ,, basically you are to be charged $30.22 daily for snacks and drinks from 5 pm - 7 pm ,, first they don't give enough drinks and food ,, 2nd they don't respect what people may eat or not ( NO VEGGIE )

2- As for the rooms there is no coffee maker, boiler or mini bar. not to mention the old bathrooms and the weak plugs

3- finally the worst service you may ever get, all staff are disrespectful, not caring for their customers, and sadly this hotel is going downhill so fast.

my last words would be STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE it deserves one and a half star
