Too few parking spaces; likely to get hit or blocked in. Basin smaller than flannel. Heating is too hot or off entirely. Bar is expensive. Barely room to squeeze past end of bed. Breakfast was good except sausages were undercooked. Railway line across the road.
On the plus side, staff were ok.

Very welcoming, comfortable, clean and the food is excellent. We have returned many times because we love it so much here. EV charging stations in the car park are an added bonus!
We have had a wonderful time at Hedley house hotel. Our rooms were beautiful, clean and had everything we needed, including a large 4g tv.
The hotel itself is gorgeous. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was great and we stayed for an evening meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. Restaurant quality... would definitely recommend..

I'm a single traveller and have just stayed at the Hedley for four nights and opted for the below ground level room. There is perfectly adequate light coming in from the patio type door which leads to the private car park. This was a budget priced room and with a recent en suite and double bed I found it to be very reasonably priced for the area.
The quantity and quality of the breakfast was excellent. One morning I had to be away early and the staff kindly made me a fully packed lunch.
The parking price may sound expensive but I have been to York many times and parking is a nightmare with council daily rates more expensive.
The Hotel is a few minutes walk from the City wall and the same for the railway station and museum.
All the staff were very courteous and friendly.
I visit York every year so in future I wont need to search for a hotel.
We ve stayed at this hotel a few times now . It s become our home from home. Lovely spotless rooms. Great friendly staff who go out their way for you. Ideally situated. Everything at this hotel is perfect for us.

Beautiful building on a nice quiet street, lovely walk through the Museum Gardens from the station. They were all so friendly and welcoming - they gave the kids extra hot chocolate sachets. Beautiful grand room and everything felt very Covid safe.
