Healthwatch Bromley: Making a Positive Difference in Your Local Community
Healthwatch Bromley is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of health and social care services in the London Borough of Bromley. The organization was established in 2013 as part of a national network of Healthwatch organizations across England, which were created to give people a stronger voice in how health and social care services are delivered.
At Healthwatch Bromley, we believe that everyone should have access to high-quality health and social care services that meet their needs. We work closely with local residents, community groups, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to identify areas where improvements can be made and advocate for change.
Our team is made up of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a positive difference in their local community. We offer a range of volunteering opportunities for people who want to get involved with our work, including:
- Community Engagement Volunteers: These volunteers help us reach out to local residents and gather feedback on their experiences with health and social care services.
- Enter & View Volunteers: These volunteers visit healthcare facilities such as hospitals or nursing homes on behalf of Healthwatch Bromley. They observe the quality of service provided by these facilities.
- Research & Analysis Volunteers: These volunteers help us analyze data collected from surveys or other sources so we can better understand the needs of our community.
We also provide training opportunities for our volunteers so they can develop new skills while contributing to our mission.
One area where Healthwatch Bromley has been particularly active is mental health. We recognize that mental illness affects many people within our community but often goes unnoticed or untreated due to stigma or lack of resources. To address this issue, we have launched several initiatives aimed at improving access to mental health support services.
For example, we have worked with local schools to raise awareness about mental health issues among young people through workshops and assemblies. We have also partnered with healthcare providers such as the Bromley-by-Bow Centre to offer free mental health support services to residents.
In addition to our work on mental health, Healthwatch Bromley has also been involved in other areas such as:
- Improving access to primary care services
- Supporting people with disabilities
- Advocating for better end-of-life care
We believe that by working together with our community, we can make a real difference in the quality of health and social care services in Bromley. If you are interested in volunteering with us or learning more about our work, please visit our website or get in touch with us today.
