About Health pei

Health PEI: Delivering Quality Health Services in Prince Edward Island

Health PEI is a government organization responsible for providing publicly funded health services in Prince Edward Island. The organization operates hospitals, health centers, public long-term care nursing facilities, and community-based programs and services. Health PEI’s mission is to provide quality healthcare services that are accessible, sustainable, and patient-centered.

With a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, Health PEI strives to deliver the best possible care to Islanders. The organization offers a wide range of services including acute care, primary care, mental health and addictions services, home care and community support programs.

Acute Care Services

Health PEI operates two acute care hospitals in Charlottetown and Summerside. These hospitals provide emergency medical treatment as well as specialized medical procedures such as surgery and diagnostic imaging. The hospitals also offer rehabilitation services for patients recovering from illness or injury.

Primary Care Services

Health PEI provides primary healthcare through its network of clinics located throughout the province. These clinics offer a range of medical services including family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), geriatrics/aging population health management (APHM), chronic disease management (CDM), mental health counseling/therapy sessions with licensed therapists or psychologists on staff at each clinic location.

Mental Health & Addictions Services

Health PEI offers comprehensive mental health and addictions treatment programs for Islanders struggling with these issues. These programs include individual counseling sessions with licensed therapists or psychologists on staff at each clinic location as well as group therapy sessions led by trained facilitators who specialize in addiction recovery.

Home Care & Community Support Programs

For those who require assistance with daily living activities due to age or disability-related issues but wish to remain independent within their own homes rather than moving into long-term residential facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities – Health PEI provides homecare support options such as personal support workers (PSWs) who can assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and meal preparation. Additionally, Health PEI offers community support programs such as Meals on Wheels which delivers nutritious meals to seniors or disabled individuals who are unable to prepare their own food.

Health PEI is committed to providing quality healthcare services that are accessible and sustainable for all Islanders. The organization works closely with other healthcare providers in the province to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
