I truly had the best care during my stay. The staff was timely and cared for every need. I even got lost when I first arrived with all the COVID procedures in place and one staff member personally walked with me to where I needed to go. Very grateful!

So appalled at this ER! My bf suffered a pancreatitis episode while we were on vacation and the ambulance took him here. The first time we even saw the doctor he told him there was nothing he could do for him! He never introduced himself. Dr Lyssey was incredibly rude and told us he did not believe him. He was sent home while doubled over in pain. The nurses were not using gloves to put in IVs. His vitals were never even taken! We watched the nurse pour urine into a cup right over the nurses desk. I will be reporting this hospital. I wouldn't let this place treat my cat!

I had a very stressful and painful experience. I w...

I had a very stressful and painful experience. I was told that my anesthesiologist was the best. However my block wore off right in PACU as I could feel my leg and wiggle my toes already as opposed to my surgery in September my block lasted a wonderful three weeks so I did not have to worry about pain medication. I also had multiple bruises to my lips, uvula and some nerve damage to my lower lip that no one explained that this might wear off or go away. I did not receive a call to see how I was doing until 5 days later.
I had multiple issues with trying to obtain pain medication which the doctors knew in the hospital right before the surgery and said they would correct. Nothing was fixed so I had to call my pain management doctor as soon as I got out on the way home to TRY to figure something out. I am taking 5 mg norco twice a day for severe back pain which was a 9 right out of surgery. Because of this and the law, I am unable to take it more frequently or obtain the surgically written norco script of q4-6 hours. My pain management dr office told me to go ahead and take mine q4-6 as needed and hey would call in another prescription (on Friday) and I would have to come in and see her on Tuesday. There was nothing. In the meantime my daughter was attacked by a dog and bitten, I had to run out to help her and my dog who was also attacked and I ended up spraining my ankle. It turned purple. I called O Days office and told to come in to LWR office which is near me. She told me three times that office. So my hubby took me there and they told us that O Daly is only at the Pt West office making us late for the appointment. We were made to wait over 2 1/2 hours there to be told sprain and rewrapped and to wear the boot after that.
Still no pain med so I called pain management. Was told they were going to e script another prescription. Later that day called pharmacy. No prescription. Called pain management. Said they would resend. Called pharmacy. No. Started to cry. DONE WITH DOCTORS AT THIS POINT!! I am an RN who also went to med school before this and am appalled at the care we give now to people. I was never able to rest, sleep for the first week and am now totally exhausted from going through withdrawal because I calculated how many pills I was told were ok to take and caused a deficit in my prescription so now I am suffering diarrhea, vomiting night sweats chills. Thanks to all of the wonderful health care we have.
I have to go through pain on to of my pain.

I was there for an outpatient test and my techs were very good at their jobs. They explained everything to me and made sure that all of my doctors got my test results. I was a bit nervous, but when I met them and they began explaining things to me, I felt very at ease. Thank you for the great service.

I was admitted to Blake Hospital after arriving at their ER with an allergic reaction. The ER and hospital staff was very professional, effective, and pleasant to interact with. I am very grateful for their service. I was released the next day relatively cured. I can happily recommend Blake Hospital. They were on their game and it showed.

My father in law has been at Blake Medical for over a month this most recent time. He was brought in roughly 6 weeks ago, was misdiagnosed as having a urinary track infection and sent home. Well he actually had a fistula that was SO bad he just had surgery and is on a colostomy bag! And while they were trying to get the infection under control they left him naked, unbathed, unshaven and doaped up to the point he was knocked out constantly for about 3 weeks until complaints were lodged and he was moved to a private room on a different floor. It s disgusting how they treat patients there, if I could control this is of had him moved to Tampa General weeks ago. Do not leave your loved one on 3North unless you can come see them everyday. We are 5 hours away, thankfully we have people who love him and are keeping us informed.

Went to Blake emergency room about a week ago for a rib injury and severe pain. They took X-ray of me and told me I was fine and probably bruised them and sent me on my way. So after a week of not being able to get out of bed work or do anything. I decided to get a second opinion at manatee Memorial Hospital were they told me I had 5 broken ribs!!!!! Not the first time I have heard of horror stories like this from Blake hospital.

my Bf had a stroke on July 30th. The ER doctors were awesome and kept us all informed of what was being done. He was admitted to the hospital and was later sent to the rehab unit. All of his therapits speech, OT and PT were fabulous and work hard with him. He ran into some cardiac complitcations and is now in the cardiac part of the main hospital for monitoring. The nurses have all been so nice when I call to check on him een though I know sometimes I catch them at bad times. They work hard and do an excellent job. Hoping that all will come out with my BF being able to return to an independent lifestyle. thank again for everything.

I went in because my neck was stiff and my left arm was numb, I explained I had a cervical c6-c7 fusion and how I was awoken by a "crunching" sound in my neck and the shooting pain in my arm! I was sent in for an x-ray of my head and then placed on an EKG machine, then sent for blood work? My insurance company was billed for OVER $17,000.00 because of tests that were done that were NOT NEEDED! I won't even go into details about how I kept getting sent back to the waiting room even after a line was put in my arm! I received better care from a combat medic in the sand box, that knew way more than any of these quacks that treated me that day. Is this your protocol to over charge individuals and their insurance company for un necessary tests? This is one of the worst hospitals I have ever been treated at in my life! I would tell my friends to seek help from the humane society before going to this hospital! I have filed a complaint with my insurance company about the over charges for these ridiculous charges for tests that were never needed.

Staff was extremely pleasant and easy to work with...

Staff was extremely pleasant and easy to work with. However, my doctor, Jose Erbella, was anything but punctual. The staff had given me very little notice as to the time of my scheduled day surgery. This made it increasingly difficult to arrange transportation after my procedure. The ability to use an Uber or my County Bus transport was rendered useless with their scheduling process.
That being said, I was told to arrive, fasting no less, at 11am for my 12:30 operation. So I arrived on-time at 11am only to wait, and wait, and wait as time passed by. An IV for fluids and medicine was placed into my arm around 11:30, but my timeslot passed and my scheduled meds were not administered until I began to sweat. Unfortunately I was told my surgeon was running late... very late. So starved I went, and waited patiently only to have a patient scheduled AFTER my appointment, taken first AT 3:30pm. My patience ran out and I demanded an update and was promised that I would be next. Finally around 5pm, 6 hours later, I was taken into the surgical suite. I woke up in recovery around 6pm and was told because it was so late, I might have to stay overnight for observation, at a very steep cost to me as a copayment. I demanded to be released to my exwife, AMA if needed, so I could go home. In closing, I was released from the hospital at 7:30pm without so much as an update from my Dr. Erbella about the operation. Thankfully, my attending nurse explained my follow up care and appointment time. Going forward, my next procedure will be at a different location and with a different specialist. This experience was just short of a disaster and I was very much disappointed with the whole situation.

The worst place on earth . My wife , who is tough...

The worst place on earth . My wife , who is tough and high tolerance of pain , went to Blake after going to Manatee first . At 3 am 1/23/17 she had severe pain in her right shoulder. she had a 100.3 fever as well .We thought is was the flu ONLY 12 hours before, because of muscle aches . the pain went from her chest, to her right shoulder, and hitting with a pain level so bad, it is making her cry . We went to Manatee first, and the Doctor seen that she was in serious pain, and handled it promptly. Within the first hour and half . At Manatee, they ran a gambit of tests, but by 4 am they could not tell her what the trouble was .so with the pain relieved we went home. However by 8 am she was right back to the pain level as before . ....................We decided to go to Blake since Manatee could not find the problem. My wife was in agony for 6 hours with no relief under Blake's care.... the Doctor in the ER refused to giver her major pain relief for the entire time she was there . Right from the start the triage nurse got a real attitude , my wife started cry because she put the BP cuff on her hurting shoulder arm . she said "you must have a low threshold for pain" she then put it on her forearm . 2 hours later , we finally got in a room. and there she waited longer ..... meanwhile patients who clearly on had minor troubles were being taken car of . .......MY WIFE WAS CRYING FROM THE PAIN, AND THEY DID NOTHING....They did all the testing like Manatee . Then the Dr said all the tests came back normal , like Manatee ...but this Dr still refused to give her any pain relief. not because of pain meds given before at Manatee, he simply refused to help her feel better . My wife with held her own pain meds in hopes she would get some real relief . The Dr at Blake treated her like she was some dope addict looking for a fix !!...we are not drug users . but this doctor made us feel as if we were .... no pain relief because this Doctor thought she was not in pain . We live outside of Chicago for 8 months a year and come down for the winter . we are not spoiled people , but we do recognize quality health care . ...........THE SIMPLE TRUTH IS , MANATEE IS A DUMP AND SMELLS LIKE PEE... BUT THEY HAVE BETTER MEDICAL HELP AND TRULY CARE ABOUT MAKING YOU FEEL BETTER........ IF YOU WANT CLEANER HOSPITAL, GO TO BLAKE ....IF YOU WANT TO FEEL BETTER, GO TO MANATEE .....

I've had three procedures and three lab testing experiences at Blake Medical Center. All three procedures were good experiences in that 1) the check-in process was very easy, 2) the nurses in the OR prep and in the recovery areas were friendly and caring, and 3) the professionals in the operating room had great attitudes (lots of humor and concern for my comfort).

My only complaints involve the three testing visits. I had pre-scheduled appointments for bloodwork and EKG on each occasion. My wait time for two of the appointments was unacceptable, but the professional RNs were great. For some reason, the only visit where I waited only a few minutes in the lobby was for an appointment that was double-booked. I have absolutely no idea how the appointment process is supposed to work, but it clearly needs improvement.

Had the worst exp. Waiting 16 hrs before seeing Dr Velcu. Hospital room was old, smeltbad, and was super out dated, brought a second patient in the room that kept talking about having opiate withdraws the whole time. Nurses all tell you something different no one is on the same page. The worst hospital ever I would rather die then spends 1 more second in that dumpster that's disguised as a hospital

I hate to even rate this place...The only thing I ...

I hate to even rate this place...The only thing I might be generous about and rate is the nurses, PT and CNA staff that gave care. They were all friendly and nice. Other than that this place is a complete joke. I work in the health care industry and have not seen things this bad. My grandfather was admitted almost 3 weeks ago because he had hip surgery. Everything went good but then a few days after started having heart attacks. To cut the story shorter he has to have open heart surgery but before he can he has to be able to walk on his own without a walker. He cant push or pull during recovery from heart surgery so they have to wait. It was THREE days before getting answers and seeing doctors. He is now ready to go home and it has been a nightmare. They are snowbirds so we all live in Michigan. We have had all of us flying back and forth to try and get answers. The case work we had was HORRIBLE. My mother did her job for 8 hours trying to find a place to get my grandpa rehab. My mom would call and get it set up with insurance and such and this lady would call and then they would deny him. She called ALL DAY and that is not exaggerated. This lady would get no where and my mom would call the same people and they would tell us everything was set. She said he didn't have insurance when we had a direct line to the senior living lady in charge at the insurance company, who was saying he did. It was a mess and an emotional roller coaster. Like i said the nursing staff were very friendly but other than that it was horrible. Most stressful hospital ive ever been in with no answers. My grandpa feels trapped. We will NEVER be returning to this hospital. I can see now why they have a 2 star. Oh and in case you are wondering about the caseworkers, they all seemed very nice except a certain one, name starts with an S. She was rude and did not complete her job. EXTREMELY upset with this hospital.

I was hospitalized for a total right knee replacement. The surgery, by Dr. Alan Valadie, was very successful. My Blake Hospital was just as successful. The room and the contents were clean. Nursing staff was very attentive and any of my needs were tended to promptly. Dietary needs were met in friendly, courteous ways. Interruptions during the night were kept to a necessary minimum. Next day discharge was complete and swift. I won t hesitate to use Blake Hospital again if the need for hospitalization arises in the future. I thank them for their services.

After my injury the staff here told me I'd be fine and that my knee is sprained and I'll be back to normal in 2 to 3 weeks and also referred us to an orthopedist that wouldn't see us because of our insurance. After 2 weeks of trying to find an orthopedist that actually worked with our insurance I had an MRI done and found out that I had a complex tear in my meniscus and I could need surgery that might not even work and will limit my ability to do things as normal and I am only 16 years old. Thanks for the wrong info..

The er nurse was very unprofessional. She did not listen to what I was trying to tell her my issue was and repeatedly talked over me. I was having severe pain in my lower back due to a kidney infection. I have had these in the past and knew immediately what was going on. The nurse told my husband that my cat scan looked normal and there was nothing wrong with me. She refused to even give me another bag of fuids. When I asked her what my doctors name was she responded that she didnt know but he was super cute. The doctor looked at the scan and found that I had a kidney infection that would require taking two different antibiotics. even after this the nurse told me I did not have a kidney infection but that I had a uti. My discharge papers clealry state that I did indeed have a kidney infection. The nurse then told me as I was leaving to make sure I drank lots of fluids to stay hydrated....horrible experience.

The main problem I had with the hospital is some of the nurses. I know they have their job put when I would push the nurse button, alot of times it would take almost an hour. Even the assistants would take their time. The week and a half I was there. My bedding was change only once. I had to ask so I could get washed up cause I wasn't aloud to take a shower.
The hospital in general was clean and the people were nice and would listen to what I had to say.
Within the next 3 weeks I will be back in the hospital cause I need heart surgery. I'm hoping the nurses in ICU are alot nicer.

Wasn t happy at all how things went down today. I get there with my brother the person that was there this morning told me I had to wait out not sure why because there sign I read said that 1 visitors are allowed in with the patients, unless pui patient. He seemed like he was clueless on what he was doing. I been sitting in the lobby for 3 hrs and not one person asked me hi are you doing ok anything. Finally I got up and asked them why wasn t I allowed in with my brother. She said she didn t know. Then after all that I got the approval to go see my brother. That s not even the worst part. There were two employees who had symptoms and walking around in the emergency room one without a mask on as she s walking out the lobby, coughing and all. I take care of residents and I have family members who are not well . You really think I want to be taking anything back to them. Unbelievable! Definitely Unorganized won t be coming back.

My father stayed at Blake and while he was in ICU the nursing staff was great, however, when he was moved to 4th floor South only one nurse was exceptional her name Lacy (little Cuban girl) all the other nursing staff that I encountered was rude, snarky, unprofessional and had to beg the nurses and Lead Nurses to do their jobs. I would type for too long giving examples. Spare yourself the grief, if you don t have to use this medical center don t, you will be glad.

I choose this hospital over closer one to my house because it's much better at cleanliness.

I was severely burned with 3rd degree burns to my legs from a propane gas grill explosion. Initially I was taken to our local ER in Bonita Springs, was patched up and told to go home and over the next 4 days had 2 follow up appts as they recommended an appt with their burn specialist set for over about 8 days later roughly 13 days after the blast. I was in so much pain and did not think I could make it that long, I consulted with another doctor who looked at my wounds who was appalled that I was not immediately transferred to a burn center. She contacted Blake and I was operated on immediately the day I arrived with a burn infection. I had a subsequent skin graft operation 4 days later and a total of 9 days in the hospital.
My entire experience at Blake was excellent and I especially want to thank Dr Van Vliet and his dedicated team!

ER Staff was excellent! They provided top notch care and we're genuinely concerned with my health and what was going on with my body. I have always used Blake Hospital as a native of Bradenton. I will never use them again after my last experience. I was in the hospital for 24 days, had two surgeries, not once did they bathe me or give me a sponge bath or even offer me a toothbrush. The nurses were rude, impatient, heartless and not helpful at all. I would sit in the restroom crying for up to 20 minutes waiting for them to help me. I can hear a nurse in my room and I can hear the other patient telling the nurse that I needed help and the nurse then says she is not my patient and leaves the room. When the other patient in my room wanted to get up and go to the bathroom, they would tell her to just go in the bed and they will clean her up. Not only is that degrading but it is also very inconsiderate to me. There is so much more I could say but I am getting more upset about the whole situation as I am writing. (I ONLY SELECTED 1 STAR BECUASE I COULDN'T POST THIS, IF I DID NOT SELECT A STAR)

My father was in I.C.U. for 2 weeks and the care that he, and we as family received from the time we walked in, to the time we left, was A1, top of the line! Our nurses (Kristina, Kristyn and Kristin were the 3 we spent most of our time with during the day) were SO amazing and worked SO hard to make sure they looked in after my dad every couple of MINUTES! The amount of compassion they have for their patients shows in everything they do! There wasn't a day that went by that we were not checked on by Patrick, the RN Leader, to make sure there were no questions we needed answered, or just to make sure that there was nothing else he could get us. We couldn't be there 24 hours a day, so when you have to leave a very sick loved one to go home for a bit, it sure feels good to know they are in such capable, loving hands. My mom and I cannot thank Blake enough for everything they have done for our dad! You are all THE BEST! From the bottom of our hearts, to every one of you that helped in his care, "thank you" for all you did for him! Janice & Ginny

I've began entering to Blake Medical Center since I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis for four months and haven't changed to any other hospital for the past year and a half. Doctors and staff have worked with my condition to make my lifestyle comfortable with my illness and the Rehab department have done so much more to help me learn to fight my condition with strength and mind. Dr. Beard is one of doctors who works in the Rehabilitation floors and she just an incredible doctor. She listens clearly about your symptoms and difficulties, then notes them for all therapist to be aware to work on their sections. The nurses of this hospital are always aware of your medications and are quick to responding your call lights. Everyone works together and communicate pretty well from all diffrent fields, so it makes your stay relaxing and healing.

My husband had an accedent at work and cut two of his fingers almost completely off, he was originally at NF regional in Jacksonville. Neither jax nor gainsville had a surgeon that would be willing to try and sew his fingers back the rest of the way on. The surgeons at BLAKE MEDICAL CENTER agreed to do the surgery! We were transported by ambulance from Jacksonville over to Bradenton, as soon as we got there we were greeted by a VERY sweet lady named megan(I think that was her name) ,she answered all of the questions we had and helped get him put in a room very quickly so that he could be comfortable and relax for surgery the following morning. They placed him in the burn unit, We were at blake for a total of 6 days, between all of the nurses and the two surgeons that we saw I'd like to put two of the nurses up on the highest pedestal possible! Sandra and Sherri were the most amazing hospital staff that we have ever had to deal with, any time we needed anything, the were on top of it and making sure that my husband (and myself) were as comfortable as possible considering the situation. If he needed a dose of his medication they were in to give it to him within two minutes, I could not say enough good things about these two ladies!!!!

Got to have my preferred name said out loud, which was great, until it was said to a family member, by a doctor, over the phone who never should have heard that name. I had requested to leave early and when the nurse proceeded to remove the tape holding my IV down, she pull the whole needle up along with it, giving me an "oops" and just kept going. And finally, even when I was about to request to leave, my nurse call button didn't get a response for 10+ minutes, so I guess I'm glad I wasn't in some sort of fatal danger because I sure would've died by then.

I had an appendectomy here on Oct 27. I was to go home that day but when I went to urinate it was very painful and discovered the hospital resident injured my urinary tract from removing the catheter wrong which caused me to spend two additional days in the hospital. The five days I was there I could not get the staff to change my soiled sheets but once... This hospital doesn't even deserve one star.

Unfortunately had an unexpected visit to the Blake medical emergency room on a very busy day for them. However I was still treated in Rapid fashion and was in and out within a matter of hours. The Entire staff who assisted me that day were extremely professional , kind and proficient even though they were dealing with a full ER. Couldn t have asked for better care.

I went here recently in the middle of a night for a bad asthma attack. I was barely able to breathe and very scared, and the staff were so sweet and polite and very quick to treat me. They really helped me to feel at ease during such a scary time. Thank you so much for your help!

My appointment was to get my blood typed before starting a new line of chemotherapy. I have been to Blake only a couple of times (ER visits by my wife). All was very good. It was easy to make appointment. Facility was clean. Everyone was friendly & helpful. Service was very good.

This was the first time I had to visit the ER at Blake.
What a great experience! I wasn t bleeding and I wasn t having a heart problem. The time from walking in the front door, until I was in an exam room and talking to the Doctor, was about 7 minutes.
On a Friday night no less. Excellent car, and a great Doctor and staff!

I had a hip replacement on October 1, 2020 at Blake Medical Center and spent one night on the orthopedic floor after surgery. The entire experience including admission, pre-op, surgery, recovery, PT and OT was outstanding. Each person handled me with care and professionalism and I was very comfortable throughout.

I went in for shoulder surgery, which is typically an overnight procedure. I asked if it may be done as out-patient, since I live alone & have a dog to care for, & I d rather be in my own bed, honestly. The surgeon told me it all depended on how I was doing after surgery, which thankfully allowed for my same day discharge. Everything went smoothly and couldn t have been better! The staff was attentive, professional, & friendly. I am pleased with the entire experience and thankful we have such excellent professionals in our small town of Bradenton! Now, it s time to heal quickly! Thank you, Dr Valadie & BMC!!
