Clean, well maintained trail with multiple lookouts to the beautiful valley below. The trail to the first lookout was quick and easy but the rest were a little more challenging with rocky terrain and steeper climbs. Nevertheless I loved it and look forward to going back.

Lots of different lookouts with great views and diverse wildlife! Some of the trails are very rocky, so plan your hike out to make sure you're prepared. Definitely worth the trip and can't wait to go again!

Hawk Mountain is usually a great place for hiking and bird watching. There are good advantages for overlooking large swathes of the Appalachian. It would be a good thing if periodically someone would level some of the ruts in the dirt road that leads to the parking lot. Gravel is relatively inexpensive and would probably be a good idea. Approximately a mile and a half to two miles away from The Visitor Center are entrances on to the actual Appalachian Trail.

We went in the welcome center and purchased several items and then took hike up the trail. Saw 3 hawks, 2 turkey buzzards, 2 eagles, 2 small deer, and one eagle nest. Had great time and view was amazing!

Wonderful native plant garden, very pretty some in bloom. Hike was somewhat strenuous, some very rocky areas as part of the path. Bring water and of course your camera. We didn't see any hawks, could've been the time of day, but the view from the overlooks was spectacular. We are planning to come back in the fall.
