I have a Chevrolet 350 V8 that a subpar engine re-builder put together for me and it had a blow-by problem because it had some trendy chrome molybdenum piston rings in it and I don't think it had a proper cross hatch honed into it.
Long story short, I had it gone through by another area engine rebuilder and the first thing he told me was that IF he were going to do the job, I would have to let him install a new set of Hastings piston rings.
The end result - This thing has about 20k miles on it and it runs awesome and doesn't burn (or leak) oil any more.
Bottom line;
Hastings piston rings are the way to go if you don't want trouble...

This company is in a very calm and quite city named Hastings which is 40 mins south-east of Grand Rapids, 35 mins North of Battle Creek and 50 Min North-east of Kalamazoo. Very friendly place to work.

Bad place to buy rings . Working there sucked too .
