Are you looking for a place where you can access a vast collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and other informative materials? Do you want to enhance your knowledge and skills through various programs and services? Look no further than Hart County Library – your ultimate destination for learning, discovery, and community engagement.
Located in the heart of Hartwell, Georgia, Hart County Library is a PINES library that offers free access to over 10 million items from more than 300 libraries across the state. Whether you're interested in fiction or non-fiction books, audiobooks or eBooks, DVDs or CDs, we have something for everyone. Our online catalog makes it easy to search for titles by author, title, subject or keyword. You can also place holds on items that are currently checked out or request interlibrary loans if we don't have what you need.
Getting a library card is easy – just bring a valid ID with your current address to our circulation desk during regular hours. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who can sign their application form. With your library card, you can borrow up to 50 items at once (including up to 10 DVDs), renew them twice (unless someone else has requested them), and return them at any PINES library in Georgia.
Our meeting room policy allows individuals and organizations to reserve our conference room (seats up to 12) or our community room (seats up to 60) for free as long as they comply with our rules regarding use of equipment (projector/screen/whiteboard), food/drink consumption (no alcohol/smoking), setup/cleanup time (30 minutes before/after event), liability insurance coverage (if applicable), etc. To book a room online or check availability please visit our website.
Our library hours are Monday-Thursday from 9am-7pm; Friday-Saturday from 9am-5pm; and Sunday from 2pm-5pm (September-May only). We are closed on major holidays and some special occasions. You can check our calendar for upcoming events, programs, and closures.
In addition to traditional library services, we also offer public access to the internet via our computers or Wi-Fi network. Our computer/internet policy outlines the rules for using our equipment (no downloading/installing software or changing settings), accessing websites (no illegal/obscene content or hacking/phishing activities), printing/copying/scanning documents (10 cents per page black/white; 50 cents per page color), etc. You can sign up for a one-hour session at a time if there is availability or reserve a slot in advance by calling us.
We have compiled a list of informative sites that cover various topics such as health, education, government, business, genealogy, etc. These sites are free to use and provide reliable information that you can trust. Some of them require you to create an account with your library card number while others don't.
Our Friends of the Hart County Library group is dedicated to supporting our library through fundraising events such as book sales, silent auctions, bake sales, etc. They also sponsor programs like author visits, book clubs, craft workshops and more. You can join them by filling out an application form at our circulation desk or attending their meetings which are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 pm in our community room.
