When my son was in kindergarten, he was suspended 18 times. His teacher was wonderful, but the principal, despite having a PHD, did not work with the educators or student body to create an environment where teaching was paramount. Having had children, who attended schools in other areas, this system was by far the worst ever.
Would not recommend sending your kids to school in this district as I have a phone number in living South Carolina but kept getting calls about someone else's child, when I called to try to have it changed I was hung up on three times and the receptionist for Johnsonville elementary was very rude and huffy and was just playing out rude and not even caring that maybe somebody's child could have got snatched because of their error she hung up on me three times and then when I tried to contact the district board they're like well did you contact the principal tried to no answer three times so they just connected me to her again instead of the superintendent like I requested for complaint so very much so do not send your kids to school here they probably wouldn't be very safe
Hiring process takes forever. Interviewed for a position in the first week of August. I didn't even get a job offer until the last week of September. Then it takes almost an extra 3-4 week to hire in someone.... just simply crazy.
I have always have a good experience when coming to this office. Everyone is very pleasant and helpful. In 15+ years of me having to come here it has always been a pleasure.
I wish I could leave 0 stars. My wife works (or thought she did) for a school in Harnett County. She called Central Office day in and day out, only to find out on the 2nd day of school that she wasn t even in the system. Saying that she wasn t allowed to work around children without a background check, etc. ...yet she worked all the workdays, was around children on the first day of school, and even was a bus monitor in BOTH AM and PM for a special needs bus!!!! And not allowed to receive pay for any of the days she s worked, despite a 30 minute commute. VERY unprofessional and VERY unaccountable.
Great school system. I wish they had more funding because Harnett county is in dire need of a new high school. I went there many times for Student Advisory Meetings and the superintendent is very nice and heard what all the student had to say about their high schools.
I have left messages for EC Dept. that are never returned. No one is ever there. No wonder our schools are a hot mess.
Horrible superintendent. He refused to see me until I had seen the principal of the school where I had an issue. His administrative assistant was THE WORST - Mrs. Johnson. She was condescending, and had a "better than you" attitudeand made snide remarks. I showed up at 8 am when the building opened and only a handful of staff was there. Tried calling and no one is there. The only personnel working are the receptionist. My impression was that the superintendent did not show up for work. My opinion is that these are civil employees doing less than the bare minimum and collecting a healthy check for doing almost not work. The only bright spot is Mrs. Vera Jones.
