Incompetent medical diagnosis
Incompetent medical diagnosis
Following a routine lung function (Spirometry) test at Hampton Hill Medical Centre (94 High Street, Hampton Hill, TW12 1NY) in September 2018, I was told by a doctor at this practice that I had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), that it was progressive and would get worse as I got older. He ended by saying the condition was not yet serious enough to require treatment. I knew he was talking nonsense. I soon afterwards consulted a private lung specialist at a BUPA hospital in Earl's Court, central London. Without doing any tests, this consultant told me I did not have COPD, or any other serious lung illness. He performed a number of tests which confirmed his initial impression. Replying to my subsequent complaint, the owner of HHMC stated (letter 31 October 2018) that the doctor who told me I had COPD denies having told me that I had COPD?
If you have been diagnosed with COPD or any other significant illness by a medical worker at HHMC, you ought to get a second opinion, as you may be being treated with prescription drugs for a condition you do not have - which could cause you new medical problems.
