The airport self is very modern and clean. On Saturday, several stores were not open, but thankfully the convenience store and the food places except for Starbucks we're all open. It's a shame as I did want to go to the Amos pewter store. Prices of course or at a premium, with $2.50 and up for bottle of water. No surprise.

Yesterday were so many bad events in the airport. The airport was without power left us 30 minutes waiting in the aircraft. The parking pay machines were out of order. Another 45 minuets waiting to pay at the gate. The road to Halifax is closed until may 25-2018 due to repair but there was no sign which alternative road is available. It was 12 am and raining so hard and barley see the road. It was totally inconvenience! See the queue to pay!

An airport Nova Scotia can be proud of. Halifax is becoming a vibrant, growing Canadian city and the airport is complimenting this. The new renovations are not quite complete but so far so good. New food options are great, and when the new terminal enhancements are complete there will be a great view of the tarmac. There are now flights coming and going to destinations in the USA and many options to get to Europe. A world class airport in our own backyard. Keep up the good work!

There is no category for unacceptable so Poor is the lowest I can score this airport. I bought a ticket to fly from Halifax International Airport several months ago and requested wheelchair assistance at that time. I tried to find out today exactly how to obtain that wheel chair assistance and was told that as soon as I get upstairs to the international ticketing counter, it will be available. My wings don't work, yet. Currently I cannot walk to the 2nd floor to get to the counter to get assistance. When I asked for help to get to the 2nd floor, I was told that it requires a special application to the airport at least three weeks in advance. My ticket that confirms wheelchair assistance doesn't count. Now really, does Halifax International Airport truly discriminate against disabled people? If I crawl up the stairs dragging my suitcase and I fall, who will pick up the bill? What happens if I just can't walk any farther and I just sit (fall) down on the floor and cry from pain. Last time I flew out of this airport, my 82 year old father helped me up to the international boarding area and then my mother fell and my father fell trying to keep her from falling as they attempted to get through the mess of construction going back to their car. Welcome to the MARITIMES!

Very smooth arrival from UK. Started with arrival 40 minutes early - no circling for ages for a slot to become free.

Departed plane via Footbridge into bright well sign posted terminal. Customs was slick and easy with use of electronic passport machines to take your declaration and then over to desk with passport official.

Baggage clain was straight forward with luggage quickly arriving after transit thru passport control.

Arrivals is bright and airy. Well sign posted for onward ground transportation into Halifax and other areas.

A nice smooth arrival into Canada at a smaller airport.

Nice clean airport with some decent shopping variety. There is not a lot of food options once through security, unfortunately. However, there appears to be a number of places under construction and soon available .

A nice average airport. Selection of shops is rather limited and prices seem a little high, but considering the small airport size, still acceptable. The size makes it very cramped when 3 "heavies" are boarding at the same time, but was told this was abnormal and due to delays and cancellations. I found the airport staff to be friendly, talkative and even caring.

The path is eternal to get to the gate since they force you to go through all the shops with the people who rightly go shopping and you have to run like a madman to arrive on time and security personnel who dismantles your suitcase in a bad way and appropriates a cream of my property proven by receipt with its purchase payment only because the tube exceeded 30 gr. allowed and certainly because given the price it made female staff want .......

Not the airports fault but the queues to get through customs and security made for a stressful mad dash for the connecting flight. Air Canada shares some responsibility by having 3 planes arrive within minutes of each other as does the state with the lack of custom officers.

Google Earth is not up to date. The lengthening of Runway 05/23 is not quite complete so this picture was taken prior to Nov 2012. At the eastern end of the runway, there is now a taxiway F that crosses Runway 14/32 in order for aircraft to access R23.

On arrival at the terminal, all flight passengers ...

On arrival at the terminal, all flight passengers were led through the corridors like a horde of sheep, you had the constant feeling that you shouldn't make any wrong movements as you passed the security guards everywhere. The baggage claim in the otherwise empty airport took over an hour. Really surrounded and keenly eyed by armed cops, a security officer let a sniffer dog run across the baggage belt several times and sniff all suitcases. If you consider that these pieces of luggage and their contents have already been checked in detail in Frankfurt and then observed this overcrowded circus, the feeling that you are particularly welcome as a foreign exchange broker in Canada faded away. Even when we left, we were rudely and impatiently ordered around in the security area by a mumbling security officer.
Halifax-Stanfield Airport is called "International" Airport, so the staff should do their utmost to speak to international travelers, speak more clearly and behave professionally if unfamiliar procedures are not immediately understood.
Another minus point: the gate was opened too early on departure, so that the majority of passengers had to wait for minutes on the wobbly gate bridge. The bottom line is that there is a lack of tight organization at all corners and, above all, the otherwise familiar and highly valued Canadian friendliness and helpfulness.

Excellent airport, airport shuttle service - Holiday Inn Express Halifax Airport hotel - every 30 minutes, very professional and respectful immigration and customs officers, very friendly and efficient Delta airline staff.
I recommend visiting Halifax a city with many contrasts and very special people.

This airport and its staff are top notch, service is friendly, volunteers are wonderful and one gets through there fast. My complaint is with the posting by the airport of the location of the hotel shuttle service. It is hard to find and one post serves both hotel shuttle services so you don't know where to stand to pick up YOUR shuttle. The airport needs to address this problem and do something about it.

Not bad at all. Needs renovation for sure but for small city like Halifax its normal airport. The staff is always nice. Not too much flight cancellations. Most likely positive impressions rather than negative.

A very standard airport. Security isn't unbearably long, plenty of space to sit and outlets at every set of 3 seats, restaurants and shops with interesting souvenirs.

They have these cool library machines, so if you have a Halifax library card you can check out a book while waiting for your flight. It's a brilliant idea.

Bathrooms are very clean and big. The water fountains have very cold water too.

May 31st I waited 65 minutes for my
Luggage. Reason was staffing issues.
Today, I land again after a red eye. Guess what. Staffing issues tired and want to get home. 70 minute wait for luggage.
Staffing issues is not the problem. It s the result of brutal management.
If can t get act together please be upfront on how long a flight actually is when landing at Stanfield airport.
People make plans. A better choice may be landing in Moncton. Or just picking your suit case off the plane storage yourself.

I enjoy the Halifax airport because it is a medium size airport, which means that it has many of the same amenities as other, larger airports, but not quite the same overwhelming confusion, claustrophobia and chaos of other airports. They have done a lot of improvements over the years, and the hotel on-site and parking has really improved everything. I find it very easy to navigate.

One of the cleanest, most pleasant airports I have ever been to - and I have been to tens of them. What really surprised me are the staff. There was a problem between an airline and me. The airport staff fought tooth and nail to get me a ticket refund, so that I could go home to Toronto - and after hours, late at night, they were finally successful. They called the airline numerous times and negotiated on my behalf. They even got the airline to pay for my accommodation near the airport for the night. Some amazing people work here. If I could give this airport 7 stars, I would.

I was flying with my puppy Dexter from St. John's, NL to Ottawa with a three hour layover in Halifax. One of the very friendly volunteers told me about the airport doggy park! What an amazing convenience to find at an airport!!! It was the perfect place to spend the 3 hours while waiting for our flight.. Dexter loved it. At first he barked at the Dalmatian statue but fell in love and while not playing fetch with me, was captivated by the statue. Not so much by the fire hydrant statue though. Thumbs up to this airport;; it was the highlight of our trip.

Ok but like all airport's everything is expensive. Duty free only opens 2 hours before international flights depart and is no cheaper than a uk supermarket. Plenty of seating and information boards toilets were clean lot's of retail outlets.
