Well it was great. We adopted gadget. Gadget is now our dog son. He came from the center and now he has a bed and two kids and he is our doodles best friend he has a kitten friend too. I am so happy that we came here. My daughter is autistic my oldest daughter and he loves her. He hugs my 7 year old and steely and gadget are partners in crime. They did a great job remodeling the facilities. I had adopted my cat back when they were still in the old building. Me and a friend went out to look at dogs cuz she was thinking of adopting. They at this time was fully running in a newly remodeled facility. The people were so nice, the facility was clean and beautiful, and the animals seemed all to be in good health and happy, well as happy as you can be in a cage that is. I was very pleased and will be back when I and my friend are ready to adopt.

Very nice and clean location. The woman in the cat area is very attentive and loves the cats. The have a lot of excellent programs to try to find the animals homes. There are so many sweet animals here who need good homes, many were dropped off by owners who can't understand that animals grow old and you should love them until they pass or they have an animal gathering problem, ending up with too many pets. Either way, adopt a sweet fur baby and please fix your animals!

While I did find an acceptable dog I am upset that the testing they do leads you to believe you are getting a healthy pet I and my other pet now have hookworms. So I paid 200 to get treatment for both animals and have to take meds for 3 days myself. My question is - if this is one of the most common problems in a kennel- why was this not tested before releasing the animal to me without any warning.

I can't say enough about the service they provide for our community. The staff - both administration and animal care alike - each have huge spots in their hearts for God's creatures. They do a wonderful job with every animal entrusted to their care, and they always put forth the extra effort to make sure every animal finds a forever home. On a personal level, I have an immense amount of gratitude for what they have done for me.

The new and improved HHS is really wonderful..it even has a store in it..lol. The people there are friendly and kind and very understanding for what ever reason you are going there for. New pet or old they show the same feelings we do about our 4 legged babies. And best is they are now a "no kill place.." So nice to hear. I think everyone should go out and see the new place!

About Halifax Humane Society

Halifax Humane Society: Providing a Safe Haven for Animals in Need

Halifax Humane Society is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community since 1937. We are an open-door animal shelter that provides care and shelter to over 30,000 animals annually. Our kennel and cage capacity can comfortably house approximately 350 animals per day, and we are usually full.

Our mission is to prevent cruelty to animals, promote humane education, provide quality care for homeless animals, and reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs. We believe that every animal deserves a loving home where they can thrive and be happy.

At Halifax Humane Society, we offer a wide range of services to help pets find their forever homes. Our adoption program matches pets with loving families who will provide them with the care they need. We also offer low-cost spay/neuter services to help reduce pet overpopulation in our community.

In addition to our adoption program and spay/neuter services, we also provide medical care for sick or injured animals. Our veterinary clinic offers affordable medical treatment for pets in need of emergency or routine care.

We understand that sometimes pet owners may face difficult circumstances that make it impossible for them to keep their pets. That's why we offer surrender services so that these pets can find new homes where they will be loved and cared for.

At Halifax Humane Society, we rely on the support of our community to continue providing these essential services. Donations from individuals like you help us cover the costs of food, medical treatment, housing facilities maintenance expenses as well as other operational costs associated with running an animal shelter.

We also have volunteer opportunities available if you would like to get involved in helping us achieve our mission! Volunteers play an important role in providing love and attention to our furry friends while they wait for their forever homes.

In conclusion, Halifax Humane Society is committed to providing quality care for homeless animals while promoting humane education within the community. With your support through donations or volunteering efforts together we can make sure every animal gets a chance at finding its forever home!
