Everyone here is unfailingly friendly, helpful and forthcoming, from the receptionists to the optometrists. Other places have a wider selection of frames, so go elsewhere if you're looking for that, but come here for your eye exam and prescription first.

Hands down, among the top 5 in town. This team is highly skilled and the waiting room is immaculate. HSEye is positive, everyone's welcome what you'll get is dedication to finding answers that suit your optical needs, period. No attitude. Just, overall, a team of lovely people. Clients range from every color, grandmother's in wheel chairs, fashionista Asian youth, pre-teen boys and girls getting glasses who play sports attend school to top drawer professionals who require elegance without trendy glam. Love going to Terry for my eye care. He always takes the time to explain things and is thorough in his exams and helping me try different lenses, especially when my old contacts lenses were giving me a problem and the solution was to switch to dailies. I've been having a much better experience after that.

1) called his YOUNG Chinese Receiptionist made appt for EYE EXAM
and READING GLASSES Cannot SEE COMPUTER PHONE ETC MY EYES ARE BAD I do not wear
glasses but cannot see compter screen etc have ASTIGSTIMS (etc) BLURRY
2) she took my Medicare and Medi-CAL (Medicaid) Insurance card account numbers over
the phone. (Note I went to this establishement over TEN YEARS ago; the other Chinese
MD OD was great! He got me glasses FAST (READING GLASSES but he is DEAD and the
REPLACEMENT IS AWFUL CON ARTIST SWITCH AND BAIT BUSINESS FINANCIAL FRAUD ( I am a
Retired SIlicon Valley dot com era Startup CEO, Finanical, SEO, Solar Consultant for
Elon Musk and work in tech online DAILY, and this was the most EMBARRASING FRAUDLENT
experience I have had with any doctors office I can remember in my 32 years in San
Francisco up from UCLA Engineering in Santa Monica CA and 20 years same place here
in Hayes Valley.
3) I took my #SanFrancisco #PARATRANSIT #TAXI to their offices on Fillmore St @
Sutter near Japantown, only a few blocks from me. I elected to go there after 10
years as I am a disabled combat military veteran Americans With Disablites ACT
certiifed LGBT protected class under state and federal laws and this medical
pracitce has commited finnacial accounting #FRAUD.
ARRIVED on time, seated, the young Chinese receptiionist medical assitant
photocopied my insuriance cards, Medicare and Medi-Cal (medicaid) cards, and State
of CA Photo ID DMV. I was seated.
In a few minutes she told me to come with her and she tested me for 20 minutes on
about 3 eye machines
She seated me thereafter in the waiting room. In a minute
Dr Terrance Chan OD came out of this room, invited me to have a seat
in his office adjacent, and I sat down.
He started testing my eyes with the eye chart I wished him Happy New Year in Chinese
as I had a wonderful experience visiting Hong Kong in the 1970s during the Vietnam
War (am a Wounded Warrior, Federal SDVOB Disabled Vet Contractor as well VA DOD
certifed).
I speak a few words of Cantonese (Chinese) and was delighted to have a Chinese
doctor!
I was SHOCKED after about 10 minutes with the DOC.....
he was in the middle to telling me about my new presrcitption
READING GLASSES (which the VA HOSPITAL TOLD ME WOULD TAKE SIX MONHTHS to get and I
need glasses YESTERDAY I lost mine in a taxi black hole :)
The SF VA Medical Center is a joke for vets needing urgent care, and I had beein in
the Communty non VA for years, So the DOC was ABOUT TO WRITE ME A PRESCRITPION when
the Chinese young Medical Asst Front Desk Receptionist @ HAIGHT STREET EYE CARE ( Used to be in Upper Haight where I lived in the 80s and moved to Fillmore later SEE PART 2 separate review CONTINUED.... Very disappointing: Went to pick up prescription for my wife and experienced a receptionist who engaged in condescending remarks and non-verbal behavior (prolonged head shaking) when I could not initially understand (am a senior with a bit of hearing loss) her queries. I am a client who will now be going for my eye care needs to a different agency: one whose employees are a little more sympathetic to a variety of customers.
