The overall sales experience was as expected and I have no issues with the initial service. However after purchasing a brand new kia sorento my significant other (who was the purchaser) asked the salesman, Malik, if the vehicle had a flex fuel engine. His response was a very definitive yes. A couple days after the purchase the vehicle was driven to the Chicago area and refueled once with E85 fuel. Shortly after the check engine light came on so we contacted the service department for advice where they immediately informed us it is not a flex fuel engine and should be taken to a dealership service department as soon as possible. They also informed us that any potential damage and even the cost of checking for damage would not be covered by the warranty. I will attempt to resolve this issue with the dealer, and because their uneducated salesman was the direct cause of this situation its incredibly unprofessional and if they refuse to help with this legal action will be taken. This review will be updated once the issue is resolved, and based on their actions possibly removed.
Update: Though some minimal communication has happened, and promises have been made, your manager was unavailable to talk to the dealership the vehicle was taken to which resulted in us paying out of pocket. We are expecting a reimbursement.
In addition the man who took care of the paperwork and claimed to be knowledgeable about Illinois' tax and registration requirements is obviously just as uneducated as the salesman. We paid our sales tax to H&H yet upon trying to register the vehicle in IL we are informed that the tax has not been paid and we will again need to recover the money from H&H or pay the same fee a second time. You're staff is clearly undertrained, and the service and communication in the event of issues is horrendous. This experience has left a very clear understanding of the dealership and H&H as a whole. Its is in fact places such as this that have led to the common stereotype of car salesmen.
