Gumout

Discovered a major flaw with Gumout while restoring my Honda CB750 carbs. It cleaned the grime effectively, but after storing the parts for a bit, I noticed the rubber components were damaged. When I went to reassemble, the o-rings in the needle seats had swollen up, and the rubber on the needle itself was also swollen and stuck. The packaging doesn’t mention that this solvent degrades rubber, which is a huge oversight. Because of this, I had to order four additional rebuild kits just to finish the job, costing me over $100 out of pocket. If your project involves any rubber parts, avoid this product—it ruins them.

I had no idea that Gumout’s carb and choke cleaner was versatile enough for gun maintenance, but it really works wonders on barrel parts. Five stars for this multi-purpose solution!
